Howard H. Carrico, III, DDS is a member of the American Society of Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry (ASIRD). ASIRD is committed to improving the quality of care for dental implant patients by elevating the standards of surgical and restorative dental education and practice. Not every dentist routinely restores and maintains dental implants and not all placers of dental implants are surgeons.

Was traveling in Hawaii to visit family and lost a battle with some Starburst candy, losing a major filling. Dr Carrico got me in the same day I called and completed a full crown replacement in 2 hours in and out. I had a painless experience and the crown not only looks great but working perfectly. When you are around Kailua or in Oahu, Hawaii, this is a great place to go take care of your teeth.

The very plain and clean doctor's office belies the excellent and very personal service provided. The Dentist and his assistants are very pleasent. Visiting a dentist is no ones favotite place,. BUT dr Carrico almost makes it a pleasure. The work was professional , easy to schedule, and almost painless. Highly recommend.

Anyone using Dr. Carrico for anything more advanced than a filling, a tooth extraction or a root canal should not trust this dentist to do it. I had a procedure done about 4 or 5 years ago that turned out to be a nightmare. I went in to see about some partial lower dentures and was told I could keep all my original lower teeth and that the results would last the rest of my life. But, after the first day of the procedure 3 of my seven original teeth were gone. The rest were ground and re-shaped to a not so pleasing appearance. Absolutely amazing. Dr Carrico is hands down the best Dentist I've ever experienced. Just had a crown done yesterday and it was pain free and unreal. They scanned then made and baked my crown all in house and it was PERFECT! Excellent Staff Dental assistance. If you're anything like me and hate going to the Dentist he will change your entire attitude. Mahalo Nui for such great work.

If you are on a dentist search in Kailua look no further. Besides being witty,Dr Carrico is excellent in his craft. He is caring,meticulous ,patient and a perfectionist in performing his work. I dread needles, but with Dr Carrico,you do the feel the needle at all when he administers his shots .
I highly recommend him and I hope he does not retire.

Dr. Carrico is very knowledgeable and explains procedures and recommendations while offering a timeline of options. I’m paranoid with Dentists so when my doctor relocated out of state Dr. Carrico was highly recommended and I’m fortunate to have found him. He’s caring and gentle always asking if I’m okay. This is my second time coming into the office for my bi annual cleaning via the dental Tricare offers and I love the care the staff has for each person that walks in. Dr. Carrico is very hands on as he completes the cleaning and evaluation and is so genuine in his conversations with you. Justine is kind and organized and I always feel like I’m part of the family when I come in. Most importantly, I know my teeth have been cleaned and looked at with attentive care! I highly recommend.

I used to love in Waimanalo and I started going to Dr. Carrico because my grandmother went to him. This is back in 2009. Since then I've moved and now live in Waianae but refuse to see anyone else. Dr. Carrico and his staff are the best! They are all so nice and friendly and really concerned for you as a person. They are understanding and really they feel like family. Smile! If you're a patient of Dr. Carrico you have every reason to smile. A patient gentle dentist combined with a friendly competent front office staff. How can you lose? Except bad teeth and other dental problems probably caused (as mine are) by a failure to follow up on regular dental preventative maintenance because I HATE dentists!!! But I don't hate Dr Carrico. He's awesome!

Your search for a Great dentist is complete. I have been going to Dr. Carrio for 12 years. I went to him with a mouth full of 6 pepsis a day cavities and a fear of dentist. I am now 63 years old with two implants, several crowns, all the rest of my natural teeth, a happy good looking smile and a great respect and appreciation for the skills of this dentist. He is great at taking good care of people who hate/fear dentist. I actually look forward to office visits. Never thought I would ever say that but it is true. Needless to say, everyone that works here was more than accommodating. I scheduled really last minute and didn't have much time and yet somehow they managed to squeeze me in and got all the work done that I needed. I don't live in Hawaii anymore but every time I visit home I will be coming here again. The entire staff is so friendly. They made me feel right at home from the moment I sat in the chair (and mind you, I can easily state that the dentist always makes me nervous and I never enjoy the experience). I went to this dentist and had multiple fillings (6 per occurrence). I had so much pain that I couldn't sleep all night. I now go to Dr. Marcus Hannah and experience pain free dentistry. He is also much more modern and clean. Agree with the other reviews that Dr. Carrico's office was run down. I even thought the Dr. had a somewhat sloppy appearance to match.

After seeing the dentist I've been going for quite a while who told me I needed a crown for a molar that a portion cracked off the tooth basically still had the roots intact and the chipped part only affected part of the top of the Molar, finding out about the very expensive price for it I decided to try Dr. Carrico to get an second opinion, it was a very good experience as he is personable and told me the different options I had he told me that it could be repaired with out a crown and that I wouldn't have to grind down the tooth essentially destroying most of the original tooth to put

I was in extreme pain and Dr. Carrico and his staff were able to get me in same day and fix the problem on my very first visit! Both he and his staff were professional and soothing as I had to have a tooth removed and dentists are not my favorite place in the world. I emailed the office over the weekend and they were able to get me in on Monday as soon as possible. I would highly recommend to anyone their services, as the whole experience was exceptional. I created my yelp account because of this dentist, enough said.

I have been trying to get my permanent crown in for over a month. The same one that was being worked on in my last review. The color is STILL wrong and Dr.Carrico straight up argued with me in his clinic's tiny hallway and tried to shove the box with the incorrect colored crown into my hands and send me on my way.
I went to a dentist in Ala Moana and looking at my xrays and chart from my initial appointment with Dr.Carrico he said he didn't see any cavities, any root canals needed, no fillings that needed to be redone, and that the tooth Dr.Carrico put a crown on didn't need it

Been coming to Dr. Carrico since he opened and really enjoy the visit every time i come. I live in town and don't mind taking the drive into Kailua for my dentist appointment. He is very professional and has a great staff. They really take good care of you. I mostly come for cleanings but i did have to get a crown done after cracking one of my molars and the job he did was outstanding. I tell everyone if they need a really good dentist to come to Dr. Carrico. In my opinion one of the best dentist in Hawaii.

When I moved to Kailua from the mainland, I needed to find a new dentist. I found Dr. Carrico through his fancy and inviting website. However, when I arrived at the office, I was disappointed with how dirty the rooms were. Dr. Carrico gave me a long evaluation, reviewing all my teeth, then told me I had multiple cavities and needed caps, a dental guard, and multiple other dental work. He said my estimate is $2,500 for all the work needed to be done. I have never had a cavity in my life, nor needed braces or anything, so was shocked my dentist from the mainland (who was my dentist for 30 years)
