Andrew Southwick: I am a full time technician as well as the owner of Flat Black Automotive LLC. I started Flat Black Automotive in October of 2013 after I outgrew my position as lead technician at a local, highly regarded independent repair shop. I had a vision and standard of service that I knew could only be achieved by opening my own business.
Andrew and his team diagnosed my 2005 Subaru which was having a CV axle problem and wheel bearing issue. Almost a seamless transaction. All the issues were corrected and Andrew and his crew were professional & informative in every way. The service and integrity at Flat Black is top notch. I had a very complicated problem where my car wouldn't start in freezing temperatures. Took it to another shop and they first said I needed a new battery, then a new timing belt to fix the problem. I reluctantly agreed and $1500 later my problem still persisted. The problem had nothing to do with the battery or the timing belt. I took the car to Flat Black and they quickly isolated the problem to a faulty wire on the engine wiring harness. Andrew walked me through the process every step of the way with nothing but patience and professionalism

I was referred to this shop by my old mechanic, who shut down his own business, and I wasn’t disappointed. Andrew and his guys, went over my truck with a fine tooth comb, and identified all the issues I need to address too keep my Old Chevy running, reliable, and smooth, on the road. The repairs made were major, and extensive, but the pricing was very competitive. I like my old truck, and I plan on keeping her on the road for a long time. Now she is running like a top. Just found my permanent shop.

Absolutely great service! Andrew helped me out from start to finish and was very informative and helpful throughout the whole process. I had an issue with my passenger front bearing, Andrew quoted me for the worst case scenario so that there would be no hidden fees or surprises when I went to pay. He was upfront about everything and completed the job surprisingly quick. 10/10 would recommend this to anyone with automotive issues.

Flat Black is a great shop that is trustworthy and affordable. I set up an appointment online, they followed up with an email and a text. I called them with a small hitch and they were very accommodating. Even better, they knew what they were talking about, were informed, knowledgeable and didn't try to upsell their services.
I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD with all new suspension. I talked about setting the alignment with the Caster set between 3 - 4 degrees. It was done without complaint or with shoddy work.
Flat Black has exceeded my expectations. I will be back....

I love this shop! It is very organized and professional. Andrew was able to get us in quickly and was great about staying in contact and communicating. I thought the prices were very reasonable and work was done efficiently and well. We will definitely be back. It's nice to find a shop that I feel confident in the people, the quality of the work and the customer service.

I've taken my Land Cruiser here twice now—once to diagnose and repair a collection of issues, and once for a straightforward starter replacement. In both cases: the interactions were pleasant, the work was done to a meticulous standard (in a surprisingly short amount of time), and I've had no issues since. Would recommend without a second thought.

Followed the great reviews about Flat Black and so glad I did. Andrew's customer service is TOP NOTCH! They quoted us a very reasonable price and did the work today in the exact time frame indicated.
