I am a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience in both Texas and New York, with a specialty in the areas of personality and identity concerns. This includes helping people better understand themselves and overcome the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that hold them back.

Rather than focusing exclusively on symptoms, I strive to increase my clients' awareness of the patterns that shape how they see themselves, others, and the world.I believe that when we begin to understand those patterns we gain a sense of control over our lives and can achieve a greater sense of meaning and fulfillment.

I am a licensed psychologist and Cypress native with over 17 years of experience in the mental health field. After majoring in Psychology at Baylor University, I moved to Upstate New York where I earned my doctoral degree Ph. D. from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 2007.

While in graduate school I developed an interest in studying personality and personality disorders that continued throughout my doctoral internship at the Syracuse Veterans Affairs Medical Center. After graduate school I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University before relocating to New York City to work at an outpatient clinic within the Mt.
There are many different reasons people seek out a therapist. It may be due to a specific problem or area of difficulty, or it may come from a more general feeling of dissatisfaction with life. During our first few sessions I will work with you to clarify your goals for therapy and develop a plan for how we will address them.
I specialize in a type of therapy called psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach emphasizes the role of self-reflection and insight in fostering meaningful change. For me it, it all comes back to a basic question - why do we keep doing the things that we know cause us problems? Psychodynamic therapy seeks to answer that question by looking at the parts of ourselves that lay outside our immediate awareness.
My fee for an initial in-person or video-based consultation session (typically between 90 to 120 minutes) is $250, after which my charge for individual therapy appointments (60-minutes) is $200. At this time I do not accept insurance. However, if you have out-of-network benefits I am able to provide you with documentation that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Our initial consultation meeting approx. 90 to 120 minutes will give me a chance to hear a bit about you and what brings you to therapy. While I believe that our most pressing task is to help you address your current difficulties and begin to feel better, I also think it is important to devote some time to exploration of aspects of your background and past experiences that may be impacting your present situation.

Dr. Knox is a deeply effective professional. He's demonstrably knowledgeable in his areas of interest. He implements his expertise into the sessions in a way that feels not like a mental health practitioner is trying to fix you or whatever, but rather you two are both working on something together.
It's been a few years now since ending my sessions with him, and I still consider his work with me to be an important part of my life and development.
I really know how hard it is to find therapists, so if you're struggling with finding someone and have the opportunity to see Dr. Knox, I couldn't think
