Since the 1920's, Joyner's Funeral Home has been serving families. We are proud to remain a family owned and independent funeral home with a professional staff available 24 hours a day. In 1920, Jesse James Amerson and his partners began the Wilson Furniture Store, located in the 100 block of Goldsboro Street.
This business also served the citizens of Wilson in the direction of funerals. At that time, most funerals were conducted in the home and burial followed in a family cemetery. The main need for the families was a place to purchase the casket and someone to help direct the funeral service. Mr. Amerson eventually bought his partners out and joined W. Boswell and A.E. Bishop to form the Amerson-Boswell Furniture Company.

We will help arrange for transport for your loved one, even if you choose to use the service of another funeral home provider. If a death is expected, please contact us directly. When a death occurs outside of a hospital or hospice, you must notify authorities so that the death can be legally pronounced.

Escorted a group of senior church patrons via our church van to a visitation at the funeral home. Services & treatment was outstanding. Organization for a large attendance was well executed. Thinking ahead to the funeral on the following day, I was concerned about my group's 150 mile trip & seating at the church site. When exiting I approached a service agent to share my thoughts. After kindly listening he suggested I allow him to reserve a section for my entourage. I accepted. Upon arrival at the funeral service, I located the representative. I lost my nephew and my family and I came from New Jersey for the funeral. I was blown away with the awesome care that Joyner's Funeral Home provided. They truly made the entire experience, which was very hard and sad for everyone, much easier. They provided my family and friends with EVERYTHING we needed.
