Mickey's Cafe & Organics
He has been working in the health food biz ever since, bringing fresh organic ingredients, sourced locally when possible, to your table. Mickey started up the first organic restaurant in downtown St. Petersburg back in 2005. Mickey's Cafe & Organics is modeled after his original restaurant, serving colourful salads, wraps, housemade soups, fresh squeezed juices, smoothies and a full espresso bar.

It is also home of the locally famous Cosmickey Cookie! Mickey immigrated to the United States from South Africa back in 1996. He worked many different jobs in Key West for 9 years before coming to St. Petersburg to open his first restaurant, Central Cafe & Organics. Mickey started working with food from a very young age, helping at his family deli and traveling to Greece to visit family and work summers in their restaurants and bakeries.

My husband enjoyed his Cuban sandwich. My meal was just ok. The mushroom soup tasted like it came out of a can, and the roasted veggie salad was loaded with rubbery, dry carrots. I definitely wouldn’t order it again. I should have ordered a smoothie!

Whether you're into organic eating or just good, non-greasy food, Mickey's is a great place to go for lunch. I love their big ol' oatmeal cookies!

Stopped in at Mickey's after a morning walk. We each had an egg & bacon croissant, one bottle of water and 1 smoothie. The total with a 20% tip came to $32, which I thought was pretty pricey for a modest breakfast. The sandwiches & smoothie were excellent though!

Good service! I had the featured smoothie which was delicious! The lady was super sweet and brought my order out to me. Also offered me a cookie! Over all I really enjoyed the vibe. A healthy lifestyle with a mom and pop feel!

Now that Lucky Dill shut down it's time to look at the breakfast options diagonally across the street at Mickey's. If you thought it was only a lunch spot, check out the breakfast menu on the door. It's modest, but serviceable. For something simple yet nutrient-dense try the Paleo breakfast. It consists of scrambled eggs & crispy bacon. I added a fruit cup.
For something more filling try the Greek omelette. Mickey is generous with the spinach & feta cheese. A small fruit cup is included.
They can also do fancy coffees like Lattes. For outside dining there are a few small tables against the wall

Food was subpar, service was tolerable. The espresso was terrible and came out in the wrong cup. The seating area had trash stashed in it. The food took too long to prepare. I wish I had something nice to say but the whole experience was poor.
