Moving Breath Pilates is a dynamic Pilates Studio in the heart of Tempe, Arizona that is owned and operated by Virginia Nicholas, M.A., R.N., an internationally recognized expert in the Pilates method. Moving Breath Pilates offers a number of Pilates classes including private lessons, duets, quartets, group Mat class and several unique workshops.
Moving Breath Pilates is also the home of Pilates Core Integration Teacher Training Program. PCI offers MAT certification as well as a comprehensive certification. The teachers and students at Moving Breath believe in integrating movement into their lives on a daily basis and aspiring to higher levels of fitness for a greater quality of life.

My wife and I have been taking Pilates classes for six months now from Virginia. It's been amazing and it just gets better! When we told her that we would be away for several weeks, she give us a full set of exercises to do on our own so we would not lose what we had gained over the previous sessions. It's so clear that she cares deeply about the well-being of her clients and that she's a master of her craft. I love the way she integrates mental awareness with the physical movement.

I decided to give Pilates a try since I had heard such good things about how it focuses and improves one's core strength. I've suffered with low back pain (I'm 5 ft 9"), extreme neck and shoulder pain (result of multiple TMJ surgeries and a fused neck (C5-C6)) for many years and needed to find something that was going to work for me. And boy, it has it! Those first few classes were tough but with Virginia's expert guidance and persistence I've seen real results and a huge improvement in my muscoskeletal strength, not to mention increased flexibility. I started attending classes at Moving Breath Pilates in 2007 after I was injured in a car accident. I had lower back pain and terrible pain in my right shoulder. The Pilates practice I learned at Moving Breath was life changing for me. My back and shoulder pain were greatly diminished after only a few months of Pilates and the pain was completely gone after one year. My posture improved, I had "abs" for the first time in my life and I had a new passion. Moving Breath Pilates is a special place and Virginia Nicholas is a master teacher and healer.

I was interested in different styles of Pilates teaching. I signed up online and received an email confirmation that I had signed up with the studio. I filled out 3 forms to prevent Virginia from any liability.
At the end of the hour class, I was asked to make a payment. I have taken many Pilates classes and have always pain online when I register for the class and this time was no exception. I put my American Express credit card information into the system when I booked my class and believed that I had pre-paid for my time in the studio.

Moving Breath Pilates has been my go to place for Pilates classes for well over 10 years. Whether the classes are private or group oriented, I feel that I always get an outstanding workout & leave feeling energized. The classes are never boring or tedious & offer both beginner & intermediate students a great opportunity to practice the art of Pilates.

I randomly found this studio over 10 years ago and it has changed my life. Virginia has an extensive knowledge of movement and rehabilitation, and combined with her dance background, she tailors each and every class (private or group) into what you didn't even know you needed! My posture, tone, and movement abilities have been transformed and I no longer suffer from asthma. I feel in control of my body, with a sharper mind-body focus than before. I have taken Pilates lessons from Virginia Nicholas for 10 months. Before that, I studied with one of her excellent students for 3 years.
Since taking from Virginia, I have greatly increased my core strength, reduced back pain from a constant occurrence to infrequent bouts, and improved my posture and alignment.
Virginia's experience as an ER nurse, her many years as a professional dancer, her MA in theater, specializing in kinestheology, not to mention her extensive Pilates training under Michelle Larson, an internationally known Pilates master, has given her unique skills as a teacher

Her teacher training program consists of a lot of one on one training and smaller groups of trainees. I get my questions answered and she's always available to answer more. Every experience I have had at Moving Moving Breath has been fantastic. Virgina's knowledge of movement and the body is like no one else I have ever worked with. I also learn something new and leave feeling successful in my practice and good about my body. If you are looking for classical Pilates as its finest I highly recommend Moving Breath.
