Since 1994 Dr. Stemley and his AMAZING staff have been our ONLY source of eye care. Always the ultimate professional Dr. Stemley is the optometrist I have recommended to many friends and because you're reading this I will recommend him to you, too. 8/10/2019 Update: Dr. Stemley has retired but the office staff is just as AMAZING and WONDERFUL as ever. I was advised to see Dr. Elesha Starkey, OD at Total Vision (Dr.Stemley has since retired). My exam was a revelation! The equipment at Total Vision is state-of-the-art. Beyond that Dr. Starkey not only knows how to utilize those devices, she also has the very important ability to illustrate and explain, in layman's terms, what the results reveal. Most importantly, the glasses I just received (for which she made the prescription) work beautifully!!! I am finally "seeing" in High Definition!

Be forewarned, Dr. Stemley retired and this practice is now Total Vision. After having the very thorough, personable, and reasonably priced Dr. Stemley for 20 years, I tried Dr. Starkey. What a difference! The price of an eye exam increased dramatically and yet the exam itself was more superficial. I do not have "eye insurance" and I felt ripped off. Three pairs of glasses with modest exam cost $2000. Outrageous! I am now looking for a new optometrist.

I've been coming to this office for over 20 years. Dr. Stemley has just retired, but all of his amazing office staff is still there. The new optometrists are wonderful. Dr. Kashak correctly diagnosed my dry eye problems resulting from R.A. and prescribed Xiidra. My two kids (17 and 24). are also patients. Whether kids or adults, the entire staff is extremely personable, and will go out of their way to accomodate families.

UPDATE 6/21 I was sad when Dr Dave retired and a bit nervous when I saw the practice became part of a larger marketing group, but it's ALL GOOD! Dr. Starkey is great, and the entire staff is intact. If you are looking for a service provider that actually believes in service, people who are knowledgeable, friendly, and will work with you until you are satisfied in case there's a problem, this is the optometrist for you. I've been a loyal happy patient of this practice for at least 20 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. You won't find a more caring group of providers anywhere

Love love love these eye doctors. The doctors are amazing and take a lot of time with each patient, and don't rush you if you have questions. The rest of the employees offer the best customer service experience you could ask for. I always look forward to my yearly visits because everyone is so friendly and you feel so welcome. All the opticians have great style and I've always ended up with great looking glasses every time. Super stylish. I recommend this eye doc to everyone who asks, and so do all my friends who go here too.

I so appreciate Dr. Stemley and the entire office paying careful attention to all safety guidelines. Not only was I able to go in for my eye exam, but I could also be comfortable shopping for new frames. The fact that you set an appointment for shopping and picking up purchases too and that they keep their door locked in order to screen people before they come in and to maintain a safe number of people at all times will keep me coming back during this pandemic. Medicare patients beware! If you don't know that Medicare covers the Comprehensive Eye Exam, the office staff WON'T tell you.
I went in for a check-up and they asked if I had insurance. Not knowing Medicare would cover part of the visit, I said No (because I don't have vision coverage.) I clearly look old enough to have Medicare, but did they tell me I could use it if I had it? NO. They charged me full price for the very expensive look at my retinas. Where is the "care" in health care at this office? My spouse discovered the over-charge and asked them to bill Medicare

Dr. Stemley has been my optometrists for many years. He's always taken such good care of me and been very patient with my contact lense issues.
I lived in Vista for 13 years and then unfortunately we had to move to Murrieta. Had an urgent need to get new lenses so I went to an optometrist near here and that was a mistake. I would highly recommend Dr. Stemley and I intend to go back to him again real soon. Glad that they are all safe at the office and open again. If you need great care of your eyes along with an amazing and friendly staff go see him.

This was our third annual visit to Dr. Stemley's office. The smooth check in was done by a very professional front office staff. Dr. Stemley has a well deserved first rate reputation for 30 years in practice at his Carlsbsd office. He took the extra steps on an additional test to assure us that there was no sign of eye problems. His back office staff is also superb in the tests they administer. The selection of glasses have something for everyone.

My experience was 10 out of 10 as I stumbled into this glasses shop for the first time. We were welcomed by all the staff and Stacey was incredible. She was so helpful and also offered to clean and tighten my current glasses. There are so many options, but the really good looking ones can get pretty pricey. If you have the money I would 100% recommend this spot.

I purchased glasses here. After two days the lenses were very scratched. I have had many pairs and cared for them in the same manner. I asked for my one time replacement and to check to see if the lenses were flawed. They reported they weren't. I have had the replacement lenses for many months and they in good condition. I am disappointed I no longer have my free replacement for the future and am sure the original ones had an issue.

Find yourself holding the phone a little closer or blinking a million times so you can read the fine print? Well, maybe it's time to get those pretty little eyes checked! I just had my annual eye check up and so much for being perfect as I'm face to face with Father Time and I think he is winning. Dr. Stemley and his girls in the front are absolutely amazing. You feel like part of the family as soon as you walk in the door. They are all so much fun and always take such great care of everybody. Dr. Stemley is such an amazing man and you can tell he really really cares about his patients

I just moved here and was searching for a new optometrist. I went to Dr. Stemley because of his high rating, and I am really glad I did! He is excellent, takes his time, and has kept me informed of why he made the changes in my contact prescription that he did. His office staff welcomed me with open arms, and made my transition from Mississippi to San Diego seamless. I highly recommend Dr. Stemley and his staff.

Love Dr. Stemley! He is a great doctor and is always so professional and nice. His examinations are always efficient and he's full of great information. I have been going to him for years and get both my glasses and contacts through him. His staff is also very sweet and helpful. I had a sty in my eye a couple months ago and he was able to help me right away with getting it taken care of.
Also, he's expanding his office. I cant wait to see what his new office is going to look like after remodeling!
If you're on the market for a new eye guy, he should be on the top of your list.
