Stopped by on a whim while taking the scenic route back to my hotel and glad i did. arrived half an hour before they were due to close, but ended up staying for nearly two hours. Ken who was running the tasting bar was so welcoming and stayed to offer myself and other visitors as many samples as we wished to try. Can't recommend this place enough. the wine is superb and the incredible selection of ports are amazing and fascinating. Wonderful hosting and so friendly. Obviously i had to buy a couple of bottles....

Amazing place, we went here on a Sunday afternoon, and we had a great time. We tasted both the wide variety of wines as well as the ports there, and even though I’m not a wine connoisseur, I could appreciate the varying tastes of the drinks.
Bill was our host and it was great chatting with him. He was quite kind and we talked for a long time. His wife Kelly swung by for a bit and she was quite sweet too. They’ve a cute dog, who is forever accepting of love.
In the back, they’ve a few tables and chairs that you can use to chill for a while. There’s a pretty cool fountain as well and you

Always enjoy sampling the delicious sparkling wines and flavored ports. Bill and Ken make the experience fun. The winery tasting room is nestled in such a nice setting away from the bustling noice of the city. A great place to relax, sample great wines and enjoy fine conversation with friends.

We stumbled upon this winery on a Saturday afternoon and had an amazing time there with the owner and a few other patrons. We were served a number of tastes on top of the already generous tasting array and ended up buying a few bottles of great wine. We highly recommend stopping in and will definitely be back!

I'm from out of town and stopped by when they were closed. But Bill the owner spotted me and waved me in. I had a great experience talking with Bill and Ken, the winemaker. If you like port wine this is the place! The wine list is huge! I ended up buying a half-case. Their 2012 Zinfandel is highly recommended.

The entrance to Palomares Road said the road was "closed", but the Westover Winery website said to go around the barrier because the closure was further up. I am so happy we did! I was not a port drinker because I had not had decent port until then. Too sweet, too cloying, too I don't know. After many tastings of their port and a little sample of something out of the barrel, I am a port drinker - a Westover port drinker! We had a wonderful time hanging out with the owner and the wine maker, listening to their funny stories about how it all came together, and sampling loads of very good wines. The

Small owner operated winery that has an amazingly large selection of ports. The hours are a bit irregular - usually the second weekend every month, but it's worth taking some time to fit it into your schedule.
The drive along Palomares is beautiful, but windy. Be sure to drive safely.

Me and my girlfriend ended up stumbling upon this winery randomly one day while driving through Castro Valley, walking in for a random visit not really knowing what to expect. Even they though they were closed for tastings that day they gladly led us into the tasting room where Ken (who has a Santa Claus-esque figure to him) proceeded to host the bar with his jolly enthusiastic love for wine and knowledge to match. I did not feel looked down upon for my lack of knowledge but more encouraged to try new wines and learn how, when and where these styles were made. Overall i feel like they stood true

This small but intimate winery is a favorite. Head on up for a very personalized tasting experience! Buy some wine, shoot a game of pool, have a picnic. It is a beautiful setting and the people there are very friendly and will make you feel like you can come and hang out there. I'm a long time (20 year) customer of theirs and I highly recommend their wines, their setting, and the experience in general. They have the largest selection of ports I have ever seen! They are a great place to hold your next private party or family event such as a wedding. Check them out - they will not disappoint!

I happened to be at Ladies night at Dale Hardware in Fremont a couple of weeks ago and Westover Winery had a booth there. It was so much fun I decided to ride out to their winery and check it out. I was the only customer at the time and was going to purchase a bottle of Port for Thanksgiving dinner and make a quick getaway. I ended up spending over an hour talking to Ken the winemaker about how Port is made to everything under the stars.Several times I said I should be going to let him get back to work but he said not to worry and he was enjoying himself too. I also got to meet the owner who was
