Services
You are what keep Third Hand Bicycle Co-op running! Third Hand depends on donations in the form of tools, shop supplies, bicycles, parts, and money. Rest assured your donation to Third Hand will go towards getting more people riding and keeping bikes on the road. We do not buy or trade for items. With help from Ecohouse Solar and a grant from ComFest, we installed solar panels on our roof.
Be the shop you want to see! Coordinators are responsible for opening/closing the shop, managing volunteers, and running the register. Behind the scenes, Coordinators run social media, order inventory, write grants, and work with other community organizations. Attend a Coordinator meeting to introduce yourself, meet any unfamiliar Coordinators, and answer questions.

Amazing ppl. Highly recommend for ANY and ALL things related to bicycles.
We have taken multiple bikes there for repairs. You can either make and apt on their FB page or do a walk in if you have time to kill. They've always been super friendly and actually teach you about the bike and how to repair whatever you are there for. All of this while doing the repair work right in front of you.
They work 100% on the kindness of volunteers so be sure to leave fat TIPS before you leave.

This has to be the city’s greatest gem...I encountered some of the most considerate, helpful and most knowledgeable people when I took my bike there for repairs. Highly recommend! I’d give 10 stars if I could! Thanks Dan for all of the time and energy you expended in making adjustments to my bike and doing it with such a positive attitude

I went here back in January. My bike needed some tire help, but the person running the place took time to really give my whole bike some TLC. I only had to pay for new tire tubes (very cheap), but they were so helpful that I left a donation too. The person who was fixing my bike was also attempting to educate me on how to do it myself, if I ever get the chance. I need to make a trip again soon!

Awesome! I got just what I needed for my bike The man there Mr Dan was very kind . He took down the bike , taught me how to use the gears, tips on how to manage the bike and how to properly use it . He let me test ride it. He walks you through it like a family member or an uncle showing you what to do with it. The bikes there are very affordable. If you want a good deal on a bike and awesome customer service and helpful tips you should definitely come here.I just got my bike yesterday and a lock from him and I was very pleased. If ever I need another bike or fixing I will be going back there. Highly

Love this place. Been going here for 10+ years and always go back for any bike part need or DIY bike fix. They also have a great seasonal (early spring is best time) selection of used bikes for affordable prices. The money benefits the poor and underrepresented folks.. getting them bikes, fixing them and teaching them how to fix their own bike. This is also a place were peace hope and love resides and open conversations happen

A wonderful asset to the community--you can learn to fix your own bike with the help of volunteers or purchase a solid older build at a fraction of the cost of buying something cheap from a big box store. Everything is used, but built with care from members who are passionate about riding. Bikes range from 50 dollars to around 250 depending on components and cosmetic appearance. If you aren't afraid of scrounging through boxes of components, you can usually find what you are looking for.

If you own a bike (or want to own one) and don't want to spend too much, just go to THEM! They will teach u and take care of your bike like no one else. And at almost negligible cost. I have been almost 'looted' by bike repair shops in the past when I found them. Now, almost 2 years later, my permanent place for everything related to bikes. #nobrainer

Definitely a hidden gem of columbus! It was my first time coming here. My bike tire got popped and I came across third hand. The guys worked there was very professional, kind and helpful. Steve picked up a replacement inner tube for me for just $5! Jim set the apparatus up and guided me through how to replace it. Rather than guided me through, given how not handy I am, he pretty much replaced it for me.
There are tons of amazing things in the store. Tools, parts, accessories for biking, etc... I came on their community day (Saturday afternoon). There were quite many volunteers and staff members

Hidden gem!
I hate to throw labels around, but it seems the hipsters have totally missed the bus (or bike?) on this treasure. Or maybe they just prefer to pay peasants to do the work for them. Regardless, Third Hand is a great place for ANYONE to fix their bike AND learn how to do it in the process, all for little or no money. I haven't been to the shop's new location (979 E. 5th), but I learned how to true my wheel at the previous shop on 5th. They have all the tools you need to fix a bike. A person in need of a bike could walk into the shop and build a bike from the ground up with

I was a member of the Third Hand Bicycle Co-Op from 2006, back when it was ran from Teddy's garage, through 2008, for the early months of its move to 5th Ave. I continued to stop by here and there throughout 2009. Let me say up front that I love the Co-Op and support everything it does. However, I'm about to make some constructive criticism. You'll note I'm still rating it high because we NEED places like this. And it's a work in progress, it ain't gonna be perfect.
In its early days, one of the downsides was that we were falling short at one of our core purposes

Great place! Got new tires, tire tubes, and learned to fix my own bike (priceless). They have a huge number of tools (hardware...) here and always have spare parts for you. Paid only $15 for 2 tires and tubes, so not at all expensive. Before I heard about Third Hand, I was quoted something like $35 for replacing the tires at other bike stores!
I've gone on two different occasions - once on Wednesday and once on Saturday. I definitely recommend going Wednesday because they were PACKED on Saturday. You won't get as much attention if you go on Saturday if you're a little apprehensive

A great place born of great intentions. Plus i went to a fun Halloween party there and met interesting people who (sadly) didn't objectify me in my tight blue dress. There seems to be a like mindedness running through the people who spend a lot of time at Third Hand, and at its lowest common denominator this mindset seems to be an overarching dissatisfaction with many of the conventions of society we've become accustomed to, such as overreliance on cars and a tacit trust of government. I can appreciate that move toward new modes of life and trying to subvert the unhealthy status quo

The philosophy of Third Hand Bike is simple: they promote biking as responsible transportation and encourage the public to bike more often by making bikes (and bike knowledge) available.
They sell used bikes and parts and will have the tools to help you repair your bike, all for a very, very low cost. If your bike is broken and you don't know how to repair it, they'll teach you; it's a teach-a-man-to-fish type of place.
I was introduced to the Third Hand Bike group at a recycling event in April. We were accepting old books, cell phones, electronics, paper, furniture, etc. We tried

This place is really cool. Have you ever had a bike and some little thing went wrong with it and you knew that the repair was probably going to be something easy? So easy that you almost felt ashamed to go into a bikestore just to have some pock faced punk smirk at you because you couldn't lube your own chain or tighten your own brake lines?
Third Hand is great for this because it is pretty much an all volunteer organization where anyone can go in and fix their own bikes (with Third Hand's tools and bike lift) or have one of the volunteers help you (if you are like me and don&apos
