NAMI of Southwest Ohio is an organization of families, friends and individuals whose lives have been affected by mental illness. Together, we advocate for better lives for those individuals who have a mental illness. Register now for this virtual panel offered at no cost to participants! Services
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Southwest Ohio is a grassroots education, support and advocacy organization originally founded as NAMI Hamilton County in 1979. At the end of 2014 NAMI Hamilton County, NAMI Warren County and NAMI Clermont County merged to better serve the region. We offer educational programs, support groups, and an information and referral phone line.
The majority of those meeting together were moms blamed by the medical profession that their parenting skills caused their child's schizophrenia or other mental health disorder. In the late 1970s, some of these families gathered together in Madison, WI and decided to form state associations. Within the next few years, the state organizations decided to form a national organization named NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
A mental illness is a medical condition that disrupts a person's thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. Recovery from serious mental illness is not only possible, but for many people living with mental illness today, probable. The notion of recovery involves a variety of perspectives.
If you or a loved one is in immediate danger calling 911 and talking with police may be necessary. It is important to notify the operator that it is a psychiatric emergency and ask for police officers trained in crisis intervention or trained to assist people experiencing a psychiatric emergency.

This free and confidential hotline is available 24-7 and provides suicide prevention, crisis intervention and referral information to Clermont County youth and adults.This 24-hour telephone offers support to residents of Warren and Clinton Counties for emergencies related to mental health and substance abuse.

It's been awhile since I went there for a few sessions so maybe it's gotten better. It's run by nice, well meaning people but their methods did little to help me.
