FABULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with Mel's. The first time I brought Bernina in that I had not bought from them but needed to be serviced, they called me to give me a choice about what I should do. Today, I called to tell them what the tension problems were with my walking foot and asked whether I should bring it in. They made several suggestions to fix the problem and to call them back if suggestions didn't work. It worked---I appreciate their not requiring me to bring in and pay for servicing. I don't understand any of the negative reviews

I was so happy to purchase my Bernina machine. I appreciated Mel's knowledge. I love the machine and took classes from their wonderful trainer, Carol. However my last two visits for machine service were most unpleasant. The first time two men in the store tried to sell me a new megabucks machine. Recently, I took my machine in for a problem unrelated to its sewing functions. Two ladies "helped" me and they said a certain $150 part was probably the problem plus a complete cleaning service would be required for "labor". $300 total! I explained the machine had just been

Mel's used to be customer service based. They are not anymore. They are very happy to sell you a machine. But if you have issues they are not as fast or courteous. Service is a minimum of 2 weeks and many times longer. I can not recommend them any more after sending many of my 4 H sewing members there and friends over the years.
Sad to see a business who says they will not work on your machine any more and puts the blame on the customer instead of trying to make it right. If i could give zero stars I would.

Thank you for servicing my Bernina sewing machine so quickly! All of the people at Mels' are friendly and helpful. They follow Covid protocol and have hand sanitizer on the front counter for customers to use. I appreciate the extra service they provide of carrying my machine out to my car. There are other sewing machine businesses closer to me, but it is well worth the drive from home to Anaheim to get great service that I can rely on every time.

My 1970 Bernina has been a workhorse with minimal service needs through the years. In September of 2018 it began to feel kind of klunky so I decided to invest in a full service. Because Mel's advertises itself as Bernina experts I took it up to Anaheim. The first thing that got my attention was that the man I was working with to set up the service only wanted to sell me a new machine. He threw out trade-in numbers and walked me through all the new Bernina models. I said I only wanted the service on my machine. It took what I thought was a long time to do the service. When I picked it

Been a customer for at least 20 years. Always pleased with the personal service I have received over the years. I have bought sewing machines, fabric, and notions. Perry has always bent over backwards to insure I am pleased with my purchase. All who work there are very friendly and a nice place to shop at.

I love this place. They have wonderful sewing machines, cute fabric, a great selection of thread and walls of notions.
But more important to me is the quality of the owners and folks who work there. They're cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. Plus they offer great classes, both in-house and vendor (I've been to Bernina and OESD).

I went in there today and when I left I felt very discouraged on having an older machine. I went there after calling about older machines and I was told that they do have them & when I got there I was never shown any older machines only brand new ones. He explained how he's phasing out his baby lock machines and gave me the prices of them and proceeded to show me the Bernina ones and that how they were better than the baby lock and they were more money of course more than I wanted to spend. I left there went to another sewing machine shop and bought a brand new baby lock machine for a

I called to ask about a brother machine and was told that the Baby Lock Jazz was similar to what I was looking for. It was the last one, for $499.00, in my price range. I came in, she clearly did not want me to buy this machine and told me that, that wasn't a quality machine. She could have saved me the time and gas and told me that over the phone. She helped minimally and didn't have any patience. I felt like it was bait and switch and I wasn't worth her time. Before I left, I thanked her, no response. I just bought a Brother online that was highly recommended. Never will

I have been to this sewing machine store before and have had nice experiences. Today I went in to grab some sewing machine needles, woman behind the counter was about as rude as you could be! I'm even going to go with nasty. Very sad!!! I own three machines and when I'm in the market for a new one I will not be coming back here!

It's okay. Their thread is pricey, but they have a varied selection, specialty threads. They don't have any large threads, they're all small spindles. It is not a 'sewing and fabric center', they have a small selection of fabric, but even the worst Joann's beats them, and the sewing is strictly Bernina. Every problem you have can be fixed by buying a Bernina. They have no parts for industrial machines, or other brands. Just ask, and you'll get a gist that they don't want anything to do with anything but a Bernina.

Came for a adjustable bias, left with a brand new machine. Owners son helped us out. Came in looking for certain feet for an odd machine, three times in one day for a gift. Explained what we needed and was told since our machine was so unique for a babylock that he could order certain parts. Unfortunately we could not order the part we needed for our machine. So we surpised her with the Lyric at less then half the retail price. Great service. He explained the funtions, classes and service plan. Very impressed with his honesty and knowledge of the machines.

I am a beginner and I went in to Mel's completely clueless as to what I needed or wanted. Bennie was very informative and took the time to educate me on the various machines, their uses, etc. I ended up with a Bernina and I love it.
Their classes are great and the instructor, Carol is very patient. As I said, complete beginner here.. I was very nervous to go to the class since I didn't know the first thing about sewing but Carol, as well as some of the other students helped me right along. It was a great experience and I'll definitely be back for more classes.
Thanks Mel&apos

This is my third Berninia I have bought at Mel's. My first Berninia I bought in 2001 and each time I have been able to trade up to a more advanced model. I love the patience the owner Perry and this time is son PJ give to their customers. Very knowledgeable and helpful. No pressure, just knowledge. Stayed answering all my questions and I had a lot about the new 700 series. Both stores work together, so they almost always have whatever you need. Will be going back to get a Babylock serger!

You can go to the big national chains for fabric--even Wal-mart has a section. However, if you want help and guidance, a place like Mel's is optimal. I bought a sewing machine here a few months back. The staff was super friendly. They helped me pick the right one for me. Whenever, I hit a snafu I come back here to ask questions. There are classes taught here as well. A place like this is a community treasure. The only weak spot is that the selection is a little small. However, the customer service is here is worth it.
