While most vendors are only able to import or purchase plants from the same limited set of wholesalers, we produce our own lines of exclusive plants. With over 25,000 square feet of greenhouse space under cultivation, we are one of the largest dedicated carnivorous plant facilities in the country. Our fulfillment and shipping processes are second to none.
We hold ourselves to the highest standards, and offer a live-arrival guarantee on all of our plants. We aren't just hobbyists. We are professionals. All of our time is spent perfecting the cultivation, propagation, and delivery of the very best carnivorous plants.

Josh Brown started Predatory Plants in 2009 as a small side-project while working for tech companies in Silicon Valley. He sold greenhouse-grown carnivorous plants at local farmer's markets and through his website. Predatory Plants has subsequently grown into one of the premier carnivorous plant companies in the United States.
We ship all of our plants using USPS Mail. This method is very reliable, and has the fastest delivery time of any of the major carriers. All orders are shipped with tracking information, which is sent when the label is created, usually a day or two before the order reaches the post office. We only ship within the United States.
Carnivorous plants are adapted to capture and digest bugs, and a) people are much larger and stronger than bugs, and b) we're make of different sorts of protein. As a result, we're in no danger from our plants. As far as we know, none of the plants we sell have any demonstrated toxicity to people or pets if consumed.

Due to Covid, they were using a walk up window. You can check out the window display with the plants and descriptions. The person staffing the walk up window was very knowledgeable and dependable. I shared what I was looking for and she steered me to a plant I wasn't even considering but turned out to be perfect for what I needed.
The plant I purchased came with care instructions, which was super helpful. My plant is still healthy, thriving, and catching the flies that I've been annoyed by due to all my other new plants.

Ordered a few weeks before Christmas as a gift for my family. Received a message that the weather was too cold to ship without their cold weather shipping kit. Immediately bought it. Never received my plants. When I contacted them they canceled my order without me asking them too. Very unprofessional. Still disappointed that we didn't get the plants and that they were so rude about it.

I ordered a "medium" sized Venus flytrap online that was quite noticeably smaller than the pictures in the description upon receiving it. Not only was the plant itself smaller but the root system & and pot were significantly smaller as well. I have called and emailed to no avail. Was initially stoked when I found them online and was planning to order a lot more items if the first order went well. I do not recommend ordering from these people.

Purchased plants online and took over 2 weeks to fulfill- I was emailing for updates, but received sporadic responses. It was peak of the pandemic so understandably for shipping time, it should specify on website.
Quality of plant compared to picture was a lot smaller than shown and 1/3 had died before it arrived to me.
Thought buying from a place that specializes in Predatory Plant would provide quality plants, but went to Yamagami's and found it for 1/2 the price and 5x better quality.

Initially, they ignored my emails after shipping an incomplete/incorrect order. I received a response 'after' I disputed the charges. Then, they declined to correct any of the problems. Incidentally, they challenged the dispute and tried to keep 100% of the transaction after admitting they'd made a mistake.
While snowflakes are adorable, I do not recommend doing business with this merchant.

Stopped by today during the black Friday sale. Honestly I thought there would be more plants because the website seems to have a lot in stock but I was not disappointed. They have beautiful displays and the cashier was extremely nice and knowledgeable of all the plants. I had several questions about plant dormancy and I learned a lot about how to care for a dormant plant. I feel very satisfied with this trip. Took 1.5 hours to get too but was definatly worth it.

My bf and I been looking for some carnivorous plants and finally found a place that sells it and healthy looking as well.
It's a very small place not big but there's variety of plants you can choose from. On one of the shelf they have a sensitive plant ! Super stoked when I saw it. I had to buy it. I've been having a lot of fruit flies problem so I bought a drosera capensis and my bf has a Venus fly trap but they didn't last long since we bought it from Lowe's but he wanted a different type of plant so he was intrigued by the pitcher plants so he purchased that one.

He had a great time here and learned so much about what I'm hoping to be my new hobby (addiction). The guy working here - ooops, I didn't get his name,- was so helpful, patient and knowledgeable. He even assisted me in picking out plants, planters, and medium. In addition he took the extra effort to put my new plants into the planters for me. It's barely spring and the plants are just waking from their winter dormancy so we can't wait to return to see what else will be available as the weather warms up. And a monstrous plus is that even the Mr. enjoyed shopping for these plants

If you want to learn about carnivorous plants, there is no better place to start, the owner is patient and love to share his love of the plants with young and old. The selection at this location changes, depends on what is healthy and available at times of year. We purchased plants and had them shipped to us. Amazing details, the plants were not in pots, just rolled in tissue paper and sealed in a plastic bag, the pots were put in the shipping box with the perfect amount of spagnum moss to repot. Great service and fantastic people. Definitely buy here,!

Excellent! Josh Brown was so helpful because of all his knowledge and friendly personality. We asked tons of questions and he was very patient with us. We purchased both beginner plants as well as plants that will grow in our region of Hawaii. Predatory Plants is definitely a place to stop on a trip to the California Bay Area.

Worlds Rare Plants is an amazing store!! The owners are incredibly knowledgeable and kind. It's sad that they are leaving the business. They're a one of a kind. :( Fret not, a carnivorous plant store will still be it's place; their business was sold to someone in San Francisco. Phew!
Their plants are very well taken care of, not like the sad spindly ones you catch at the hardware or grocery store on occasion. My VFT has been thriving 3.5 months after purchase. It was dormant but now it's aliiiiiiiiive and trappin'. They were having a closing sale last week in which I picked

Nice place to get out to stretch your legs and check out plants of all sorts. I like that they have separate little shops with their own specialties like succulents and carnivorous plants. I really enjoyed the fairy gardens.
The lavender products were wonderful.
There were also some cool metal art sculptures around the premises.
The only bad thing is that I couldn't find a bathroom and they don't allow dogs inside the shops.

A plus! Owners are exceptionally friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. Also they opened earlier than the posted time. Dog friendly too.
They have many small sizes affordable plants. They are so flexible. I was able to buy and add a couple of plants to one of their already created ones. I could not believe how affordable it was. In the City this would have cost 2-3x as much.
Selection is very good. They take the mystery out of caring for these carnivorous creatures. They have some fun color glazed pots if you have a modern decor.
I would recommend bringing your own pot if you have one you

After driving past the big CARNIVOROUS PLANTS sign on the highway to half moon bay about a million times, I finally stopped in today to check it out for myself.
The owner was there manning the register and answering questions, and was really helpful with suggesting plant types and advising us of care instructions.
So far I've only managed to keep succulents and pepper plants alive, so I recognize that keeping finicky carnivores happy will be a challenge. Still, after today I feel totally prepared to take good care of my new little dudes. Plus, if I hit any snags the owner assured me I can

This place is super cute and they have the coolest set up for their plants.
They basically built mini fairy lands with their fern and carnivorous plants.
The staff are super nice here and will educate you & provide you care sheets for all the plants you buy from them. My fiancé told the guy that he had a venus fly trap before and it died really quick. The man told us that venus fly traps are very sensitive to what water they're fed and need to be watered with bottled water and any ounce of chlorine would kill them. We also learned that they don't need to eat flies to live, they

Great selection. All the plants were in good health and nicely presented. The store is as clean as a plant store could be, and very well organized. Everyone that worked there was genuinely nice and we're able to answer all of our questions. We left with the plants they recommended for our situation and love them!

One of the most interesting plant shops in the bay.
Many carnivorous plants. You can buy the plants potted but they also make pretty amazing terrariums.
They seem to be very knowledgable and the type to really care for their plants. They also send you home with instructions so you won't kill the plant. I have a black thumb so I need all he help I can get.

My 7-yr old is presently obsessed (and more knowledgable than me) of carnivorous plants, so today we stopped in at "World's Rare Plants" of Half Moon Bay to peek at their inventory. The owner, Richard, called out from a back greenhouse for us to join him, and he gave us a tour on the spot of his 50-year old collection. Some of the pitcher plants were huge and impressive. He was extremely nice. The staff then showed my son pictures of a flytrap trying to digest a salamander. It was a great day for the little guy!
I'm fine-tuning my hobby greenhouse still, otherwise I would

This place is AWESOME.
Always passed by and wanted to know but figured it was more for tourists than a Bay Area native so just never stopped.
A friend of mine is an avid collector of carnivorous plants and I was interested in this place even more because she recommended it so much, so I went!
I met the owner, super sweet man. Very smart and loved to fill my brain with information. Tons of weird stuff to look at. I wanted my whole world to look like his displays.
It's a work of art in that greenhouse.
I stop there every time we go to half moon bay now I can't be there and not go to

Oh man this joint is awesome! I swear they have some of the coolest plants around! When you pull in the parking lot you see the big carnivorous plants sign. Then once inside it's like walking into the movie little shop of horrors mixed with the smurfs. Yeah crazy but you will get it when you visit. The variety of plants is just crazy I never knew you could have so many options. I normally get these for gifts and for my terrarium. The staff is very knowledgeable and will go out of there way to help you answer any questions. These guys really care you can call them anytime and they will try
