Triunfo translated from Brazilian Portuguese means Triumph. At Triunfo we aim to be triumphant as an academy, a team, and individuals over all challenges we may face both in martial arts, as well as in life. It is said that the way we do one thing is the way we do all things, therefore the diligence, respect, humility, and confidence we develop in training inevitably begins to show up elsewhere in our lives.
Being triumphant does not always equate to a win as the end result, but rather can be the attitude and spirit in which we face challenges and setbacks. Winning is not always in our control, but being triumphant in spirit is.

By creating a safe, open-minded, and welcoming environment, TRIUNFO JIU JITSU & MMA has successfully developed strong Adult and Youth programs within our academy. We aim to build the confidence and on-going curiosity of our students, so that martial arts can evolve into a passion for a lifetime.
Whether you're interested in striking, grappling, or a combination of both we have the right program and membership to improve your knowledge-base and skills.TRIUNFO JIU JITSU & MMA is proud to have such a diverse group of people who call our mats their second home. Our members range widely in age, experience, gender, and professions yet we all come together on the mat to learn, grow, and develop ourselves as athletes, practitioners, and people.

No Gi Jiu Jitsu is the second variation of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. While similar in many ways to the traditional style wearing the kimono, No Gi has some very specific differences and challenges of its own. Many people feel that it is a bit faster paced than it's original variation with the Gi, but the truth is that both arts should be practiced to improve its counterpart.
Triunfo's Youth Program was specifically designed to accommodate youth ranging from 3-11 years in age (12+ would benefit from training in our Fundamental class options). We are proud to have 2+ coaches on the mat at all times with our Youth Program as this allows us to provide not only a safer and more effective environment, but it also allows us to separate the class into two groups based on age and experience.
Triunfo Jiu Jitsu and MMA impresses far beyond its lineage, talent, and heart; the very walls that surround us and the roof over our head bring the entire team a sense of pride and encouragement. Located in Costa Mesa, CA, near the CA-73 and 405 freeways, we are conveniently positioned for anyone whether they wish to start or end their days with our team.
You'll learn to defend yourself and develop confidence in your ability to do so if need be. Our hope is that you're never faced with a dangerous situation, but our intent is to prepare you if you are. Consider this quote, A student said to his master: 'You teach me fighting but you talk about peace.

I was starting to switch gyms a few months back so I took on the free trial week that Triunfo offered, and that ended up being the only trial I would need to have because I was sold immediately within 2 classes.
The school offers a lot of class times for a wide variety of people with different schedules. I've only so far attended the 6am and 930am classes on the weekdays and there are usually at least 8 people in the class - sometimes even 20+.
The most important factor that I see in the culture here is humility. No matter how higher ranked someone is, they will still be helpful with guidance

Triunfo is an excellent place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I've been training jiu jitsu for the last 5 years and spent the last year here. I was training at Gracie Barra in Diamond Bar before moving to Costa Mesa to be closer to work. I found this gym and spoke to my old instructor and he told me Triunfo is an amazing gym. I came and did the 7 day trial and was definitely drawn to this place thereafter. Felipe and all the instructors here at Triunfo are top-notch. Not only that, the facility is clean, people are friendly and technical. Definitely recommend this place for new comers and jiu

I stopped in while in was Anaheim by suggestion from my Professor Matt Baker. I want to say everyone was welcoming and kind. I never felt like an outsider! I felt like I was already a member of their family. The member were so cool to me in addition as Professor Kareem!
I appreciated Professor Kareem's instruction and his patience to work with students on an individual basis if they were struggling with a technique. I highly recommend Triunfo to anyone that is anywhere near the Costa Mesa area to stop in and roll with them. I had a blast and learned a lot today!
Thank you Triunfo

I've been training at Triunfo for about 2 months and Brazilian jiu-jitsu for roughly 6 years. I moved back to the West Coast after about a decade away and was looking for a gym to train at while I found a job. Long story short, ended up not staying in the OC but the team at Triunfo was mad flexible in helping me find a situation that worked in the interim.
The instruction is excellent - Felipe is a gem of a person and an extremely technical instructor. The training partners are tough but also kind, great class schedule (am + pm), and affordable. Plus, when they go the extra mile to figure

When my co-workers first introduced me to Jiu Jitsu, I tried a few different gyms in the area before coming to Triunfo. After my first day of training at Triunfo, I knew that this was the place I wanted to call my gym. Triunfo had by far the most welcoming group that I encountered, and the cleanest gym.
Now, after training here for over a year, I find that the diversity in skill levels and constant encouragement has provided opportunities to constantly challenge myself and continuously improve my skills. The quality of instruction by coach Felipe and all the instructors at Triunfo has offered

Triunfo is a place where you can learn serious level MMA in a non serious, jovial atmosphere. The coaches are super friendly and understanding; able to teach all levels...from complete noobs to actual competitors in the sports of Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, and MMA. Come in for the 7 day free trial; no pressure, nothing to lose. You'll see for yourself that this a wonderful place to learn, burn a sweat, and make friends that become family.

Triunfo is my home away from home. I spend about 4 days a week here and can't say nothing but good things about the experience and friends I have made here in the past 2 . Triunfo is a healthy place to be the energy is something you have to feel for yourself. Professor Felipe and Chelsie are some of the most humble and amazing people you will meet. The Jiu Jitsu that Felipe and the instructors teach here is perfect for any beginner and advanced Jiu Jitsu competitors, being a competitor I am thankful I found a school were I could come in on a night and see 4 black belt competitors. AMAZING

A new family
I've been going to Triunfo for 5 months and within that time span I've experienced dramatic changes not only with physical strength, dexterity and agility but I've also met a great bunch of new people as well. Initially, I was a little hesitant to join and try jiu jitsu as I've never done anything like this before. Felipe and Chelsie were extremely welcoming and run their business very well. In addition, the instructors put a lot of focus in attentive training. They teach you to be better and don't treat you like a number. This experience has worked out

I've taken private lessons here for many months, attended numerous open mats, and done classes. I cannot speak highly enough of Triunfo. The gym has an awesome atmosphere where one can both learn in a friendly environment while still being pushed in order to compete and grow.
Do yourself a favor if you're in the area and sign up. It'll be the best decision you've made in a while ;)

On a recent trip to California we had planned to eat dinner at California Shabu Shabu.. upon arriving (a bit early), I was surprised to see a jiu jitsu school next door! As I was on this particular trip for a tournament, I dropped in the next day during coach Chris' Saturday class. Black belt Coach Chris gave excellent instruction and added some great details to my back control game. On top of that, Coach Chris was happy to roll with me (for a number of rounds) to help keep me sharp for the tournament. He displayed great technique, and I really appreciated his control and overall abilities

I have not tried the classes here, but the Jiujitsu open mats are a lot of fun, and I have learned a lot from people here. Triunfo is a place where you can feel and experience the vibrance of the Jiujitsu community. Coach Felipe, Budo Dane and all the Triunfo members are extremely welcoming to those who want to try classes or participate in open mat. They are one of the few gyms that offer open mat to the community, where there can be an open exchange of ideas, technique, and practice.

Here is the important stuff if your looking for a new gym
Clean mat and general facility.
The bathroom is stellar.
The people are hygienic. (And friendly) (no long toenails here)
The instructor takes personal time to develop meaningful relationships, and has clear instruction that's easy to digest.
They also have a water fountain that cold as funk, which is nice after getting smashed like you should in jiu-jitsu.

I first came to Triunfo about a year ago on the recommendation from a friend, and soon found myself wanting to train every single day. From the first day, I found everyone to be very welcoming and helpful. Triunfo offers amazing instruction in Jiu Jitsu (gi and no gi), Muay Thai, MMA, and kids classes. The coaches and students all have great attitudes and help you feel like you're part of the team. Professor Felipe is a great coach, and one of the nicest people you will ever meet.
I highly recommend this gym for anyone looking to train and become part of the family!
