Leevy's Funeral Home
Leevy's Funeral Home had the honor of curating a celebration of life for Reverend Clementa Pinckney. His life was celebrated by friends, family and the former President of the United States, Barrack Obama with his family by his side. Bringing a moment of unity, love, and support for families, during a moment of loss and sadness, is why Leevy's Funeral Home continues to server Columbia, Midlands and the entire state of South Carolina.

It makes a big difference who you select as your Funeral Director. When you select Leevy's, you will receive a superior personnel, superior service, superior equipment, and understanding care, at a very fair and reasonable price. Pre-planning your funeral is one of the most considerate ways you can ease the emotional and financial concerns for your surviving family members.
Services
Leevy's Funeral Home was founded in 1932 by Mr. and Mrs. I. S. (Mary) Leevy. Mr. and Mrs. Leevy were both born in Kershaw County, South Carolina. After completing Hampton Institute, Mr. Leevy returned to Columbia and opened the Leevy Department Store on Washington Street, where he specialized in custom clothing and dry goods.
A funeral represents a purposeful opportunity to reflect on the meaning of a life that has been lived and to determine the impact of that meaning for the family and friends. The funeral or memorial service is a time for human sharing in its deepest sense. You and the ones you love are at the very center of the process, and the choices you make will determine its significance for you.
In 1995, when I. S. Leevy Johnson became sole owner of his family's funeral home, he reminded the community that Leevy's had "New Ownership but Old Friends." He signed every letter and ended every radio program with "Your Friends at Leevy's." Whereas the red rose means love, the white rose means peace, the YELLOW ROSE means FRIENDSHIP.
Pre-planning your funeral is one of the most considerate ways you can ease the emotional and financial concerns for your surviving family members. The loss of a friend or family member can take a toll on one's mental health. A feeling of emptiness or sadness can lead to depression and other conditions directly related to a recent death.
Pre-planning your funeral is one of the most considerate ways you can ease the emotional and financial concerns for your surviving family members. Pre-planning your funeral arrangements allows you to share feelings about various aspects of funeral services and inform others of your personal preferences.

I have to agree with a previous review that leevys is operating off of reputation and has become rather relaxed in their operation. To have to deal with such frustration after losing a loved one is absolutely ridiculous. It is obvious that their processes are not efficient and they can't handle the volume. Planning the funeral went ok. I did deal with delays in returning calls and scheduling a pre conference. I will acknowledge that at the end of the day they organized a good service with very few hiccups. However months later I am still dealing with multitude of payment issues. Their biggest

To the Family at Leevy’s,
On August 16, 2021, I had the unfortunate displeasure of needing services from a funeral home. Upon conferral with my eldest uncle, I was advised that Leevy’s Funeral Home has handled the affairs of our loved one’s for many years. As a result of my uncle’s advice, I called Leevy’s.
My initial contact was with an extremely patient and comforting woman

Very unprofessional I made 3 trips to talk to Director and was told I had to talk to my dads wife which is understandable because that’s what she wanted but the funeral home told her my dad was cremated and wouldn’t release his ashes till the bill was paid I. So I paid the bill to find out that they never had a death certificate to cremate him and my father has been sitting there for a month now with nothing being done and they wouldn’t give me my refund because they didn’t have there legal side of things in order like my dads death certificate but they were ready to collect payments

Mr Leevy-Johnson, I did not want this day to pass without sending this heartfelt thanks to you and ALL staff for their displayed professionalism.
From the receptionist to the Pre-meet meeting, with your son Chris, First Viewing, the Wake, Pick-up, the Burial, to the Repast, and back home, we felt like my sister and I were prince and princess and our Mother was the Queen!
Those top hats were classic!! I had to stop and take a photo in the middle of getting into the limo.
Additionally, she really looked like she was sleeping, and with the "Mona Lisa" smile. Hat's off to the embalmer

Leevy's is trading on reputation and sits comfortably on past laurels. They are a known quantity, the devil you know. One would think that if protecting a precious image was truly important to securing the future, one could expect better customer service. One would be wrong. Leevy's has gotten lazy and selective when it comes to caring for customer needs. If you are well connected and able somehow help promote them through media or some other source, (ie presidential photo ops) then this is certainly where you should land. You will be king. Otherwise, don't bother. They are

My family has been patronizing Leevy's Funeral Home services since my mother died in 2001. Prior to that, my extended family, including my mother's sisters and brothers had been content (in spite of the sad occasions) customers for many years. Leevy's is a family owned and run establishment that I think has been around for decades and we have never received anything but compassionate consultation and efficient service from Mr. I.S. Leevy Johnson and his capable staff. In recent years at church and other community events or funerals, I've been able to interact a bit more with
