Established in 1890 by C.D. Barr, Sr., Barr Funeral Home of Leesville, SC, has the distinction of serving this area for well over one hundred years. As a young man, Mr. Barr was a farmer, cotton buyer, owned a mercantile store and eventually began a saw mill cutting long needle pines.

As these trees grew scarce, short needle pine was used and this type of developed lumber did not sell, Barr's sawmill began cutting short needle pine and he began making store show cases and coffins. Many of these show cases are still in use, and making coffins marked the beginning of the Leesville Coffin Factory and eventually Imperial Casket Company.

It highlights our loved ones' sacrifices, reminds us of the things that they value, and inspires us with their life stories. Have the Talk of a Lifetime, a program created by The Funeral and Memorial Information Council, was designed to help families have meaningful conversations about the things that matter most in their lives.
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.

We've used Barr-Price 4 times over the past 6 years and everyone was helpful, kind and sympathetic. Robert Lollar helped our family each time, he made everything as easy as possible in our time of need.

The funeral home is awful. They are not honest and do not return phone calls. They choose the people that they show respect and those they don't show respect. I have worked with other funeral homes that have much higher employee standards. It is sad when funeral home employees are not honest. I don't care who you are, what color your skin is, or how much money you have in the bank - all people should be treated equally. Why would I be refused my mother's death certificate? I know I can get a copy from DHEC but why should I have to go down that road. Show me the same respect you showed the man in

Barr-Price is absolutely the best Lexington has. Amanda went so far beyond what is expected for my Mother-in-law. She/they helped us make our way through a very tough ordeal. We are thankful.

The experience my family and I had with them was nothing short of great. We lost my dad in November 2016. IT was unexpected and didn't have alot of time/notice for family to get in town so they allowed us to have a private viewing with immediate family before cremation was done. They were there every step of the way, had a military flag over my father for the viewing and even mailed a hand written card to my mom shortly after everything. They made the unbearable and miserable experience a little easier to deal and cope with. Thank you to the staff at Barr-Price!

It is hard to say "loved it" under the experience category because of the grieving experience but I feel compelled to write to support Barr-Price. I felt they were very compassionate and desirous to meet our family's personal needs during this difficult time. We wanted minimal services, cremation and an urn, and did not need onsite services such as visitation, funeral, burial, etc. I thought they were very economical compared to other competitors in Lexington and that was important as it would have honored my father's wishes. They took care of details such as arranging to receive a flag for the
