The Human Form
To say that The Human Form has made a difference in my life over this past year is, to put it mildly, an understatement. I came into our initial arrangement with enthusiasm, but it was enveloped in a heavy coating of well-earned skepticism. I had soooo much weight to lose. Plus, I was saddled with a miserable, decades-long track record of injury and failure - and the meanest, most debilitating voice in my head.

But there was something you said that resonated so deeply with me: Just show up and we'll do the rest. The simplicity of that must have triggered something. I could forget how far I had to go. I could even forget what I needed to struggle through during that next hour (stinkin' split squats). Just drive there and walk in the door.
Services
Everyone wants to look, feel and move through life optimally. Sadly, less than 5% of the population achieves these types of goals for the long-term. With so much conflicting information and sometimes less-than-scrupulous marketing tactics, it's no wonder that people are confused and frustrated. The Human Form is changing the way holistic fitness is done.
Although our Semi-Private Personal Training format is an ideal choice for the majority of our members, our coaches do provide an option for people who need or prefer to work privately in a one-on-one setting. This service can be short-term with the goal of joining the Semi-Private groups, or ongoing for private instruction.
Three to four times a year, HF supports members (and interested family and friends) with a group journey on the Whole30. Founded by Melissa Hartwig, the Whole30 is designed to change your life in 30 days. Think of it as a short-term nutrition reset, designed to help you put an end to unhealthy cravings and habits, restore a healthy metabolism, heal your digestive tract, and balance your immune system.
Too many active adults struggle with pain or old injuries that hold them back and prevent them from living the active life they love. At Diverge Performance, we specialize in helping active adults get rid of pain for good so they can get back to enjoying their active lives and say 'yes' to anything.
I specialize in working with closet rebels and renegades; high achieving people who've had success by traditional standards yet feel "stuck" or as though "something is missing". After decades of a full-throttle assault on these never-ending thought-loops, I switched gears (paradigms, actually) and now employ more of an Aikido-style dance with life.

Today is actually my 3rd anniversary at The Human Form so what better time to finally write a review?

The short story is HF changed my life. I'm nearly 61 and stronger and healthier than I've ever been. They helped me lose 70 lbs which was cool when I got to walk my daughter down the aisle at her wedding feeling good about myself and not worrying about the pictures to follow. It was even cooler when nearly 3 years later I held my granddaughter in my arms and felt confident I would be healthy and active and functional as she grew up.

Started physical therapy after total shoulder replacement and the therapist was impressed with my strength and range of motion 4 weeks post op. I owe it all to Human Form!!! Love you guys!!! Can’t wait to be back.

What can I say about the Human Form?
I am stronger and sleeker, I work hard. The coaches challenge me every session and they don’t let me slack. The result? I am more fit now at 48 then at 38 or 28 or even 18.
Deep gratitude for all the coaches who have helped me go beyond my original fitness goal, which was simply to have more energy. Thank you to: Stephen, Michelle, James, Jeff, Cam, Pat, and Haleigh for all your support and guidance. Working out at HF is the best investment I have made in myself.

I am so fortunate to have found The Human Form. There was a point in my life where my entire body shut down. I couldn’t do anything except get through my work day. I was depressed about not being able to do any of the activities I had once enjoyed. But also, to be honest, I hated to workout. Exercise? Me? Never!! Oh a few trips to the YWCA riding a cycle for 30 minutes, bored out of my mind. Then my friend Mandy Miller told me about Human Form and how it had changed her life – she lost weight, gained strength and found a new lifestyle.

I just returned from 2 weeks of walking tours throughout Ireland and Scotland, climbing up castle steps and miles of cobblestone walks, up and down narrow 'closes' and 'wynds' in ancient Edinburgh. When my 87 year old dad could do more squats than I could muster, I knew it was time to do something. Friends encouraged me to look into Human Form Fitness. So glad I did!

I have been a member of The Human Form for almost 1.5 yrs. In the past, I had participated in boxing, boot camp style classes and weightlifting. I considered the form I had been taught pretty good. Then I fell down the stairs in my house and fractured my right scapula. I did not exercise for 4 months. When it was time to return, I knew I was going to need help with my shoulder to get back to where I was.

I recently finished a six-month membership at HFF, and have the best to say about the staff, members and the way things work here.

First, their intake is extremely thorough - not only biometrics and medical history, but evaluating posture, hip mobility, spinal flexibility, etc. to see what the body needs in real-time. The Human Form offers small group personal training that is top notch. I've worked with trainers before but nothing like this. Even though the classes are small group (max 5 or 6), you still get highly personalized training. Everyone starts with a detailed assessment and that info is used to modify workouts as necessary for each person in the group. This business is very evolved with the community, and always reaching out. Yelp partnered with this local gym to throw a free gathering so people could come and see what all the talk's about.

Scoping this gym out, I'm totally impressed! I am a big fan of new/refreshed training. Basically, a regiment of free weights and the treadmill will never keep me motivated. Small group personal training sessions that really work. Fun environment.serious healthy mind and body results.

I've known Stephen and Michelle (HFF owners) since they were trainers at Grant medical hospital gym-- over 10 years ago. I had a 6 month old at the time. I was out of shape and exhausted. Stephen wrote me programs that helped define my health from the inside out. He taught me that a healthy mind and a healthy body go hand in hand. Stephen and his Team at The Human Form are amazing. If you are looking for improvement in personal health or ways to improve your golf game, Stephen will make it happen. I have reached new heights and consistency with my golf game, including a three round stretch of 64, 65, and 67. When I first went to The Human Form, I decided I would give Stephen a year and figured I would not see much change and be on the search for something else. Now after working with him for over a year, I know I will still be working with him next year and the foreseeable future.

The Human Form team! They have improved the function and quality of life for both me and my husband, and have been great life coaches as well. Great counseling on overall health and nutrition in addition to meeting fitness goals.
