Shaia Oriental Rugs has been in the business of taking care of your oriental rugs since 1973. We understand the construction, textiles, and dyes used in rugs and how to make sure they are maintained properly. Our oriental carpet cleaning is done by hand using cold water and hung to dry. Hot water cleaning can damage your carpet by causing the dyes to run.

Don't: Assume you can use the same cleaning products as you would your wall to wall carpet. The wool in an oriental rug contains natural lanolin (sheep oil) as well as different types of dye than you would see in a wall to wall carpet. A lot of spot cleaning products for carpet will cause damage to the wool and dyes in your oriental rug.

We brought a Bijar runner to Shaia Oriental Rugs to be cleaned. Our dog Toby had had an accident on the rug which had set in by the time we discovered it. I tried to clean the stain with a commercial cleaner that was supposed to remove the odor and stain without harming the rug. Well, the colors did run so I took it to Shaia to see if they could correct it. I realize that this was asking a lot since once the colors run its is quite impossible to restore it to its original form. I was really happy with the result. I have purchased two carpets from Shaia Oriental Rugs and love them both. The first purchase was a room size hand-knotted Romanian rug featuring deer, lions and birds which is so unique. It has been on my floor for 30 years, and it again looks new since having it cleaned by Shaia. I recently purchased a smaller Pakistan-made rug for my bedroom. That rug has a light color, floral design that fits well with my pastel bedroom décor. Both are thick, wool rugs that feel wonderful underfoot. I recently took 5 or 6 of my parents rugs to Shala for cleaning and they did a fantastic job. I walked in and was warmly greeted by a young man (forgot his name, but he was very nice) who helped me drag the rugs out of my trunk. He gave me an estimate on how much the rugs would cost to clean (charge by the sq. ft.) and also told me they could fix the fraying at the end of the rugs where the vacuum had done its damage.
