I started Home Care Assistance of New Mexico after I had a less than ideal experience with hiring in-home caregivers for my parents who lived 1500 miles away. Dad had experienced a severe stroke, and not long afterwards, Mom also declined and became bedbound. They needed help fast. I found in-home help through a local agency and private referrals.
My husband and I had such a wonderful experience with the two care givers we had from this agency. They were kind, patient, extremely helpful and a pleasure to have in our home. We will miss them as they became like family to us! Also the supervisor for our caretakers was very well informed about our ongoing situation and the caregivers also get constant training from the agency.
Our mission is to provide older adults with a comprehensive alternative to uprooting their lifestyle due to health related changes. 89% of seniors have a stated preference to age at home. Home Care Assistance literally saved my mom. If not for having Home Care Assistance, my mom would have not made it out of her home when a fire started in her garage which quickly filled the home with smoke. But beyond the super hero that they are, my mom's day to day care is wonderful. She has found a friend as well as a care giver. They balance her needs, and support and encourage her - giving her respect, independence, and aide. The team communicates with me and ensures I know what has happened over the day.

After an initial period of trying to find the right fit from both client perspective and caregiver scheduling needs, HCA found 24/7 care for our mom with caregivers who are compatible with her personality and needs, as well as show her the respect and dignity she deserves while keeping her well fed, active in her usual routine and safe. HCA always attempts to find a good match between client's needs and the care worker. They strive to fill the client's schedule whether fixed or variable. The care workers are well groomed and dress in scrubs. A best effort is made to be on time every time. HCA has met our requirements for over two years now.

We’ve been with Home Care Assistance of New Mexico for over a year. From the very first moment while desperately searching for in-home care options, brought on by an unexpected hospitalization, the HCA folks have been incredibly responsive. We’ve transitioned from occasional care a few days a week, to live-in care, to 24-hour care, and back. Each time, HCA has been extremely accommodating and able to respond in short order. The care team has been amazing; taking such great care of our mom. We would highly recommend HCA.

My 92-year-old father was ill this past year and I came out to Albuquerque (I live in NY) to take care of him, but he wasn't bouncing back very quickly. I had to leave to go back to work and we decided we needed an aide. Other agencies we contacted either didn't call us back or were too overwhelmed to help. After my step-dad was recently diagnosed with cancer, I've had to temporarily relocate to Albuquerque to take care of him and my mom as he went through his cancer treatments. Our care manager matched my mother with a wonderful caregiver. My mother enjoys her company very much. She is punctual, consistent and thorough. The one day in 4 months that she called in, the agency promptly covered the shift with another great caregiver.
