Services
For three generations, our family has owned and operated auto repair shops. Our grandfather, Peter Eates, emigrated from Italy as a child and grew up to open a garage in Brooklyn, New York. In the 1940s, he relocated to start a car repair shop in Portsmouth, VA, and turned the business over to his sons, Frank and Louis, who worked together for many years.

I have bought 3 used vehicles from GAC. Been very happy with each one, enough to drive from North Carolina each time I'm car shopping. My latest vehicle developed a problem within a week of getting it. I brought it back, they looked it over & repaired it at no cost in 2 business days. If I could give a higher recommendation than 5 stars, I would. 100% would recommend GAC to anyone looking for a used car or a mechanic.

So happy to have found Pete and Frank(and the entire staff) at GAC. They are an honest and hardworking family business. I initially found the center through a recommendation when I had a car emergency and needed a mechanic nearby. I live in Virginia Beach, but teach in Portsmouth. After getting overcharged for years on repairs in Virginia Beach(ahem, I will kindly not name the businesses), it was refreshing to find mechanics who were honest and charged way less for the same quality of work. They also let me drop my car off and would drive me to work and pick me up when my repairs/inspections

Wow, just wow. I can't tell you how great this place is. I dropped my car off and it needed A LOT of work done. I had no idea on the price, i had been quoted a couple different ones from different companies and then i found GAC and Pete. They had my car fixed in no time. They were honest with what they found wrong and they got me up and running for a great price. I would recommend this shop to any and everyone. I will be returning for years to come.

I'm not one to normally leave reviews but this place deserves an exception. I've been trying to get my car inspected for a couple weeks now, and most places tell me I need to leave my car overnight because they are too packed, even when it's been four hours until closing time! I can't afford to leave my car overnight because I need it for work. I was in and out of here in 40 minutes! Not only that but the waiting room is clean and warm. The staff was super friendly and they didn't even end up charging me because I am military! If you happen to not be military it was only

Awesome experience. Super friendly staff and great pricing! I dropped off my Jeep in the morning and it was ready that afternoon for a windshield replacement. This is my third windshield and the first time I took it somewhere else and was left with a whistling sound after they installed it. Even after going back and getting it resealed there was a whistling sound when I drove. After taking it to GAC there is no whistling!! They did an excellent job.

If your going to drive like an idiot at 6am, don't do it in a van with the company you wiek fors name and phone number boldly emblazoned on the side. This is the second time the same van with the JEZZ11 license plate Lewis through the stop sign on Prescott onto GW hwy cutting me off and nearly causing an accident. I complained to the company last time but apparently they could not care less how they are represented
