Areas of life that are less understood or difficult to identify are discussed by C.G. Jung as the shadow side: To confront a person with his shadow is to show him his own light. Once one has experienced a few times what it is like to stand judgingly between the opposites, one begins to understand what is meant by the self.
Anyone who perceives his shadow and his light simultaneously sees himself from two sides and thus gets in the middle. In therapy, the identification of the shadow is a delicate process. The therapist and patient become a working alliance that carefully identify and process these elements of the patient's life.

Dr. Kaufer helped my daughter (and through her, my family) immensely. Dr. Kaufer utilized modern therapy along with her extensive educational background and real-world experiences to help us through some very challenging times. Dr. Kaufer also held firm to principle as well, which was not easy, but critical in our situation. As a result of Dr. Kaufer's diligent efforts, my daughter is significantly better off.... thriving today with far less risk to her situation. Dr. Kaufer, through her therapy, cared for our daughter as if she was a member of her own family. I would not hesitate to recommend

I strongly recommend Dr. Kaufer. She genuinely listens to patients, and she provides solid and grounded psychotherapy. She treats adults, families, and children with evidence-based interventions, and does so with utmost confidentiality. As a fellow psychologist, I have consulted with her on cases, and found her to be exceptional. Highly recommend.
