Dr. Marsha Vannicelli
By providing a window to your thoughts, feelings and behavior, psychotherapy can help you learn how to take better care of yourself and how to make your life more fulfilling. Generally, when people are feeling stuck, perspective is lost. Working with a psychologist one-on-one in individual therapy, with others in a therapy group, or in couples counseling can help you see things from a new vantage point.

New options may come into view, and along with this, the possibility for making new choices. As a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 25 years experience, I understand the importance of developing resilience-to-change in order to effectively cope with major life transitions (such as loss of a loved one, divorce, retirement, medical illness, birth of a child, new job).
Services
The therapy services that I offer include individual therapy, couples counseling (for those in both traditional and non traditional relationships), and group therapy. My work in psychotherapy addresses the pain, anxiety, and depression of my clients while building on their successful adaptations and strengths to create change.
Therapy can help you gain a new perspective on difficult problems. Whether you are working with a counselor one-on-one, with your partner in couples counseling, or in a therapy group, psychotherapy can help you to feel more empowered in relationships and to alter self-defeating behaviors.

Engagement in psychotherapy or counseling can provide support and opportunities for problem solving when coping skills are overwhelmed by painful feelings of doubt, guilt, or despair. And, at times, particularly when feeling isolated, depressed, or anxious, it can be helpful just to know that someone understands and can help you make sense of what you are feeling.
Working with a skilled therapist in individual psychotherapy provides an opportunity to gain perspective on painful feelings and challenging problems that can affect your mental health. Therapy can shed light on the ways in which your life has unfolded and how this has affected the pain that you experience.
Whether what is needed is fine-tuning or a major relationship overhaul, couples therapy in the form of marriage counseling or prenuptial counseling can help partners work together to improve communication, resolve painful family issues, and maintain a well-functioning, satisfying partnership. Working with your partner in marriage counseling can be helpful when the strains of daily living cause wear and tear on your relationship.
Group psychotherapy provides a special way of learning about yourself - in particular about the ways that you relate to others and communicate your feelings that may interfere, at times, with getting your needs met. The group provides a safe, supportive place to share problems and concerns, and to learn from and with others.
