Services
The funeral home is an important part of any community. In addition to providing a variety of necessary services to the community such as burial services, cremation services, memorial services and celebrations of life, funeral homes also serve as resources for those grieving the loss of a loved one.
Here at Ofield Funeral Home we are proud of our family's tradition of honest, compassionate service. The Ofield family has been honored to be one of the most trusted Grand Rapids funeral homes for over 100 years. When Tim Ofield's great-great-grandfather opened his funeral home over a hundred years ago, most of the people in town knew his family personally.
When it comes time to care for a deceased loved one, you may feel overwhelmed and confused about the next steps. As one of the top funeral homes in Grand Rapids, MI, our staff members are here and ready to help. Whether you'd like a funeral or a more creative celebration of life, we can assist you to select the funeral service options that hold the most meaning for you and your family.
Obituaries act as quiet reminders of the finite nature of our lives. Yet, for those who have recently experienced the death of a family member or friend, an obituary means so much more. It is a bittersweet reminder of all we've lost, but it can also help us to remember all we enjoyed while they were alive.
G. K. Chesterton wrote, Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die. The men and women who served in the armed forces, whether during a time of war, or one of peace, are living examples of that contradiction. Each should be honored and remembered, so that our gratitude never fades.

When my soulmate of 43 years died they handled everything with respect, kindness, and went above and beyond to do everything I wanted without question. They cared and were supportive in this trying time and were wonderful and like a family toward me. They took the best care of my "Lar Bear" throughout the entire funeral and burial. Even though my gem of a husband was already with God, I and his remains were treated with the utmost respect and care. They did not try to sell me anything or influence me in any way and I got exactly what I wanted to pay. Their compassion is the best. I want to say

I had my husband moved here from another funeral home, they were able to accommodate our schedule and wishes. They were very compassionate and professional. My husband’s visitation and Celebration of life services were handled in the most wonderful way. Thank you so much for providing us with such a much more comfortable time when we needed it. You are so very appreciated! Thank you so much.

Ofield Funeral Home cremated my son Liam who was born when I was 15 weeks pregnant. They were so very kind and empathetic during a time of immense grief and did not charge us for the cremation, even when he needed to be transported to a special crematory because he was so small. I felt confident that my son would be treated with kindness, tenderness, and respect when I left him with the staff at Ofield. I especially appreciated that they used Liam's name when speaking about him and addressed myself and my husband as his parents. That kind of sensitivity is usually sorely lacking when it comes to

We have celebrated the lives of several family members with such compassion and support from Ofield and their staff. Larry has been a friend of our family for years, and Josh recently supported us through planning the burial for our dear mom. They guided us through each step of the planning and took care of the paperwork, allowing us to focus on family arrangements. They make the most difficult times of your life easier, and we never question their integrity.
