Great Lakes cold freshwater is like a refrigerator for shipwrecks. Many of them are preserved and intact. You will see wooden schooners with their masts upright and massive wooden steamers in one piece. We offer scuba diving trips and expeditions in Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Lake Superior. We run trips out of Milwaukee, WI and nearby destinations from April to June and then again from September to October.
We spend the summer months up north in Lake Huron and Lake Superior. Whether you are flying in from the coast or anywhere else in the world we have you covered. We rent CCR and bailout tanks, some OC tanks, and weights. We have sorb and tank fills including air, nitrox, and trimix available for sale.

What intrigues us about exploring Great Lakes shipwrecks is the history and mystery that surrounds them, the way the shipwrecks stay preserved in the cold water for decades and centuries, the diversity of the vessels that have traveled these waters and the chance to see it all. We are enthusiastic divers that enjoy diving anytime anywhere.
It's a very unique experience for many reasons. The Great Lakes contain 20% of the world's fresh water. Located in North America near by the Canada-United States border the Great Lakes are the largest group of fresh water lakes on Earth. The lakes are all connected into the Atlantic Ocean through the St. Lawrence River also known as the St Lawrence Seaway.
Shipwreck Explorers team is dedicated to discovering lost shipwrecks. Finding lost shipwrecks is not a simple task. It takes time, effort, and resources such as equipment and finances. We enjoy researching lost shipwrecks in a library and newspaper articles, establishing search patterns, and searching for the shipwrecks.
An "invasive species" is a plant or animal that is non-native (or alien) to an ecosystem, and whose introduction is likely to cause economic, human health, or environmental damage in that ecosystem. Once established, it is extremely difficult to control their spread. The Great Lakes have been hit economically by various invasive species, namely the sea lamprey, Quagga mussel, and zebra mussel.

For the last 4 years I've used Capt. Jitka (Shipwreck Explorers) for technical charters in Lake Huron and Lake Superior. Jitka provides excellent rebreather support and her boat is well equipped for technical diving. The Molly V has a fantastic wide rung ladder, carolina rig with equipment lines/deco station and surface supplied oxygen hung at 20' with LP inflators to plug in off-board gas in an emergency.
I am looking forward to another 2 weeks of diving in the Great Lakes this season with Jitka and deco (the dog/first mate)!

Jitka and Deco run one of the best charters I’ve had the fortune to be on. Her focus is on Great Lakes Shipwreck dive charters and fully supports technical, CCR and recreational dives across lakes Michigan, Huron and Superior. On her expedition trips to some of the more remote locations Jitka is able to support gas needs including air, Nitrox, Trimix and O2 fills. I’ve been on many of her charters and plan to be on many more.
