Stopped in for lunch with my parents in the winter. At the time, they were allowing dine in so long as you had proof of vaccination (a picture on your phone was good enough). The lunch menu was a bit limited but we pretty much got a little of everything, and everything we had was good. The tostones were crunchy and savory, the plantains were sweet. We got both the pulled chicken and the pulled pork, both were juicy and rich, brightened by fresh cilantro, diced onion, and queso. The staff was friendly, and the entire vibe was a bit hipster. But totally clean and socially distant. Their logo is pretty

Have eaten here several times including the last two nights. I swear this gets better every time. Just finished the pork with plantains and yuca and could eat two full servings, sad it’s gone. Every bite so flavorful and amazing. They seemed short staffed tonight, two people making to go orders and serving several people inside. The staff were calm and cool, very helpful. I just moved two blocks away and will be here often, but it’s certainly worth a drive. My wife loves the chicken, arepa, and the Colombian dogs are also great.

This place is an absolute gem! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but my personal favorites are the braised pulled pork, arepa criolla, yuca frita, and sweet plantains. The cilantro aioli sauce is extremely addictive so it's not a bad idea to add a half pint of it if you are getting a large order.

I love this place so much. The menu is small, but everything on it is delicious.
I usually get (for dinner) either the pork or the roasted veggies with plantains and arepas (don't miss the arepas!), but my favorite meal here is actually breakfast. I recommend the aborrojado with an extra egg (and a caffe con leche, of course).
They have a gorgeous garden to sit in when it's warm. Now that it's chilly, it's the only restaurant I'm currently eating indoors in. (They have a vaccine mandate.) And I LOVE that they regularly provide free meals for any neighbors who need them

Wow. This place is amazing! We ordered a whole bunch of vegan stuff and it was all so delicious. The flavors are excellent; everything is clearly made with love, attention to detail, and quality ingredients. The service was genuine and friendly, outside seating was perfect, and our fam of three loved everything! Cafe Racer does a lot of good for the community too. Thank you for creating this space and for making such yummy food. We can't wait to come back!

Fresh, flavorful food and some of the friendliest service you can find anywhere continue to make Cafe Racer a Seward neighborhood favorite. While their indoor dining remains closed as of this posting, they have ample outdoor table space including a side garden area which is a great spot for dining al fresco.
Cafe Racer’s breakfast and lunch menu features a variety of vegetarian options including the omelettes, white corn masa cakes, and a traditional breakfast with eggs and a sweet potato hash. Carnivores will be satisfied by a side order of the kielbasa which is subtly spiced and full of rich

Unexpected gem! Food was awesome. Menu is a bit different which is why we wanted to try this place. It's only 5 mins from the UofMN Fairview Hospital so was perfect place to go while waiting for a patient there. It's in a residential neighborhood that's quiet. Due to covid they only have outdoor seating right now, but there's a canopy type garden that looks almost enchanting for additional seating. Cocktail selection is good, I wasn't familiar with any of the beers but I was given a great recommendation. We only had interaction with one person who takes your order inside and then bring tour food

Still on that never ending journey to one-up the last breakfast sandwich I enjoyed. Time to get a bit more adventurous. I had a real craving for arepa and discovered a place I had been meaning to check out had an arepa breakfast sammie!
This place is right in the middle of a Minneapolis residential neighborhood and specializes in Latin American cuisine. Their arepas specifically are fantastic. They are deep fried cornmeal-dough cakes that are subtlety sweet and melt in your mouth.
What I ordered:
Egg, Cheese, and Kielbasa sandwich ~ over hard egg, queso cotija, kielbasa, and banana peppers

This place makes the most delicious foods. I always order the pulled pork arepas with the green hot sauce they make (seriously so good) and a side of fried plantains. Super cute small place with a lovely little patio for warm times. Used to live in the neighborhood and visit frequently, but still will make the drive for this yummy nosh.

The portions are pretty small but the food is really good! I had their braised pulled pork with a side of arepas and plantains. The arepas are sweet with a hint of savory and the plantains are sweet and kinda caramelized. Both very good. The pork itself was OK, and I wish there was more sauce on it so it wasn't as dry. Overall still really good food and I'd go back! Minneapolis is so cool because of all the different types of food you can get. I'm a huge fan of arepas now

I first came here for the free lunch they do once a month. This is such a kindness on their part and I applaud them for it. Almost everything on the menu is gluten free, the only exception is a hotdog bun. Everything I have tried from here has been delicious. They make a version of fries with gravy that is delightful, yucca fries with a gluten free gravy topped with pulled pork. The arepas that come with many dishes can be either sweet or savory I love them with their homemade hot sauce (verde) my favorite item by far is their jambalaya it's incredibly flavorful. They often have unusual and

I can't believe I've let this place escape my notice for so long. Or, I can believe it because I was eating low carb and this is definitely not low carb. But, so delicious. Wow. I had the Chicken and rice with Yucca and Plantains. So perfectly done. I was going to share a pic of my flourless chocolate cake too, but I ate it too fast because it's was so damn good. When I need another carb load, I'll be back. 20% off from Groupon+ too.

What a wonderful little hidden gem in southeast Minneapolis. It is a small cafe with just a few tables, however I came with a large group and they were happy to push most of the tables together for us.
It was a Saturday afternoon and they were having Happy Hour so all drinks were half off! I got an amazing sangria for just $4. Yes please! They also had other mixed drinks, beer, and wine options.
The food menu seemed small, and I believe it was a special happy hour menu, but everyone found something that they liked. I chose the Roasted Chicken with Arepas and Rice n beans. The chicken was good

Arepas, tapas, and yuca-goodness!
Great brunch spot with a wide variety of menu options. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options as well.
I would highly recommend Cafe Racer's Yuca Cheese Curds, made with their house-made aioli. They also make their own green hot sauce if you're looking for a little extra heat to any dish.
Drinks: good coffee, limited selection of wine and canned local beer.
Quick service and great staff in a quaint location with lots of natural light!
I'd recommend parties of 4 or less.

Girls day out lunch here was fantastic. We had great service - when asked for recommendations our server was ready with a few specifics & explained the ingredients some in our party of 3 were not familiar with :).
The food was delicious and aesthetically pleasing, too.
I appreciated that their coffee cups were small because it allows you to drink the whole cup while it is still hot and our server was also attentive to refills throughout the meal.
Obviously being January, we sat indoors, but on our way out noticed the patio area which looks like it would be wonderful in the warmer seasons
