I only called to find out if they do pre-insurance inspections. I got told "don't come today I dont have time". I said no problem would tomorrow morning work better. Rudely got told "I don't know I'll fit you in when I have time". Completely unprofessional (coming from someone who works customer service for a car dealership) and is willing to travel from Haverhill to Peabody to give you my business. A very no-nonsense, honest and knowledgeable repair shop. Larry and his staff will actually take the time to explain what's wrong with your car and walk you into the service area to show you what the problem is. From there, he will give you options for the repair, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each option. Price isn't that bad either. We had a problem with the air conditioner in 2021 and the repair was about 400 dollars cheaper than the quoted estimate. What mechanic does that? Other problems we had fixed here were about the same or less than what the dealership

Had new breaks done here recently and they started to squeak very loudly within a month on an almost daily basis. this shop definitely charges A LOT for labor compared to other local shops. unfortunately the owner seems like a giant narcissist and is not willing to take any constructive criticism on his yelp page into consideration, he instead deflects the criticism and tries to counter-argue the reviewer in a personal way, often including personal information that should not be on here. i suggest that if you want to start having a better business you take your customers concerns and criticisms

Larry and his team are great! My father was a mechanic so I know a good and HONEST one when I find one. I will drive over a half hour to go here only as they are that good. Will never tell you that you need something done to make money. Larry found the reason for the steering problem I had that no one else could as soon as he drove the car. That is when I was hooked.

I'm a new customer to their business and wish I found them years ago. Every time I go in Linda fits me right in, and Larry calls me soon after telling me what needs to be done and the cost which is always reasonable. As soon as you give the ok they get right on it. They're speedy, have great prices, and really know what they're doing. I never have to bring my car back for the same issue, they get it right the first time!

My usual mechanic is no longer in business and i had to find a new place. Ive been coming here for a little while and everyone is wonderful!! Larry the owner his son the recepionist Linda and all the others. They know what they are doing snd make sure that your satisfied with the work done. Also very fair pricing

My Subaru Outback had several lights go off on the dash. Linda made my appointment and helped to set my expectations. Larry called me to explain what work was needed so that I could make an accurate decision.
The car was repaired promptly. When I picked up my car, Larry showed me the failed part and explained in more detail what the problem was. He answered my questions, which made me very comfortable with his professionalism. I will continue to return there for my automotive needs.

They definitely take their money over maintaining valuable relationships. They are over priced to begin with but we thought we a friend and after Larry insisted on giving us a break on the guardian install, he completely took it back and said his son told him he couldn't do it. LIES!!!
After that, having to still come in to have the system serviced he was completely silent and wouldn't even acknowledge us like we werent there.
I would HIGHLY consider taking your business elsewhere!!!!!!

These guys are the best. Have my 03 Yukon running like new. Tires radiator thermostat tire rods brakes and even a new ignition. I would not recommend anyone else but Larry and the boys. They are first class and get the job done right the first time.

Just finished getting screwed by larry and his mechanic scott, brought my wifes car in leaking antifreeze. told them where it was leaking and that the heat would get hot for about a minute then would cool down then get hot again. Also told them anything over $400.00 to call first. Well I got the call alright ,your car is done we flushed and tested the system and put on a $120.00 hose the bill is $560.00, Ok fine I go and pay the bill then pick up the car after they close, now theres no leak but also NO heat at all. Went back the next morning to ask some ???s like ok if I have intermittent heat

I have been doing business with these guys since they were on Lowell Street at the Shell Station. These guys are always up to date on the newest technology, service bulletins, and failure trends on common makes and models. This can save you a TON OF TIME AND MONEY, as well as aggravation in the long run if you have local corner shops and chain stores trying to fix your car. This training and experience doesn't come cheap up front on your bill, which is no different than the stereotypical costs of dealing with the car dealerships. I just finished having this company service the Gaurdian Interlock System for the last two years. I would never ever recommend "Larry" ever to do business with. He charged extra money to install the device when a set fee was advertised. He has signs all over the shop telling you his rules and how he is not responsible etc. Obnoxious to say the least. His expertise is total BS on what will set off the device and his self righteiousness is beyond belief. Additionally never ever sign up for Gaurdian! The device is antiqated technology that takes forever to "Warm" up. I mean FOREVER

Larry is a hot head... and the alcolhol mornitering sysem program they have is a joke... and if you have a coupon for the first month free its not they charge you at the end of your four weeks......... and make you sign a contract for one price than charge you another.... and make sure you show up well before they close or they wont take you..... horriable..

As a single mother of 2, having moved to Peabody 7 years ago, Rte 1 Auto was the closest to my home & the business appeared "busy & trustworthy". Lots of $$ & years later, I find out I've paid (dearly) for services that I never received !! If you frequent this business with any kind of regularity you will surely notice that none of LARRY RUBENSTEIN'S employees/assistants last more than 6 weeks !! If there were 10 stars, I'd give it to them! Outstanding service, very fair rates (lower than I expected!), friendly and helpful staff, and a large, clean facility. Easy to find just south of 114 on Route 1 (southbound). My Subaru needed a LOT of work, and the dealership basically told me it wasn't worth fixing it, and to trade it in for a new car. I didn't want the payments, excise, insurance, etc...I found the place by accident, and I'll never take my car anywhere else. They have a computer setup for email reminders for scheduled maintenance, which I really appreciate.

I cannot recommend this place enough. As a chick with basically zero knowledge of anything automotive, I am always terrified when I need something fixed on my car because A. I know it is probably going to cost me an arm and a leg, and B. I am afraid of being taken advantage of and ripped off.
