Leslie Hemedes
My name is Dr. Leslie Hemedes, PsyD (PSY29620). I am a California licensed clinical psychologist offering compassionate in person therapy to individuals and couples living in the San Francisco East Bay Area, and telehealth to all California residents. Over the last 11 years, I have worked with diverse populations in a broad range of settings.

In my practice, I have a strong interest in working with concerns related to Women's Health & Relationships. As a psychotherapist, I use a strength-based relational approach that emphasizes collaboration and openness. During our time together, we will explore and better understand how early experiences, significant relationships, genetics, and the social surround have impacted your ability to feel productive, satisfied, motivated, and fulfilled.
Services
I was born in Los Angeles, CA, and spent the majority of my upbringing in Sacramento, CA. Both of my parents immigrated from the Philippines before I was born. Having two parents that assimilated to the United States allowed me to develop a strong multicultural lens when engaging within my relationships.
I went to grad school and worked at George Washington University Hospital with Dr. Hemedes. She is a fantastic clinician - she is so warm, caring, and has an incredible sense of humor. She makes you feel safe and at ease. I fully trust her clinical judgment and recommend her very highly. Sometimes, all we need is a safe space that allows us to feel open when sharing our most precious emotions.
Dr. Hemedes is a complex and compassionate therapist. I had the honor of sitting with Leslie in a weekly consultation group at my previous place of employment. She often demonstrated an ability to uplift the seen and unseen parts of a person, especially in consideration of their different mental, emotional, physical, and environmental contexts.
I approach therapy in collaborative and comprehensive way. I lean in with respectful curiosity and warmth. My hope is that I provide a space that encourages safety and openness. I believe that our identity is influenced by our genetic make-up, significant relationships, life experiences, & culture.

Before meeting Leslie, I had never done therapy before. It has always been something I wanted to do and something I was interested in but never found the time or courage to follow through with. Growing up, therapy wasn't always something that was positively stigmatized, so it was easy to find excuses to not go. There were things I needed help working through, however, and I knew I wouldn't be able to continue to take it on myself.
I found me asking myself the same questions in different ways and always coming to the same conclusions. I'm not saying that I was tormented by these questions/answers

I also have witnessed her creative lean to incorporate multiple modalities into very caring human interactions. All while having a uniquely relaxed

When I met Leslie for the first time, I was struck by how easy it was to get to know her. Her relatable personality has a way of making you feel like you’ve known her for all of your life. As a trusted colleague, I respect her knowledge of the field, and capacity to use her natural gifts to promote encouragement, strength, and tools when working with clients. Leslie is well versed in providing both in person and telehealth therapy. I wholeheartedly recommend Leslie if you, or a close family/friend are looking for emotional support in any capacity.
