Services
Kadampa Meditation Center North Carolina exists to provide everybody in the NC area with the opportunity to learn about and practice Buddha's teachings. To fulfill this aim we have created a peaceful city sanctuary located in Dilworth. Based on the books of the modern day Buddhist teacher, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, we present Buddha's teachings in an accessible manner that can easily be integrated into busy modern life.
Guru Yoga and Mandala offering retreat combines two of the four great preliminary guides that we need to practice if we want to gain mahamudra realizations - the quick path to enlightenment. In this course Gen Norden will guide you in techniques for cultivating inspired and joyful states of mind, and teach you how to bring these minds into your daily life situations.
By participating in them we can improve our wisdom and Dharma experience and use Dharma to solve our daily problems. We can become our own protector by protecting ourselves from danger and suffering, and our own doctor by curing our mental pain with Dharma medicine. We shall be able to set a good example for others to follow and help others by giving teachings and advice.
This Sunday series is based on several of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's books, including Eight Steps to Happiness, How to Transform Your Life, the Mirror of Dharma, Universal Compassion, Joyful Path of Good Fortune, Advice from the Heart of Atisha. These texts are modern commentaries on ancient Buddhist scriptures manuals that provide practical advice for daily living.
Eight Steps to Happiness is a commentary on a famous ancient Buddhist scripture - "Eight Verses of Training the Mind". This inspiring book reveals essential methods for transforming all life's difficulties into spiritual insights and for developing universal love and compassion, the source of true happiness for both self and others.

Attended class the first time there today, 10-11am session, love the teaching. It was clear, practical, and easy to follow. The place and people were welcoming. More importantly, my teenage kid likes it, so I'll return for sure with my kids. I highly recommend this place to everyone who want to learn about Buddhist teaching and Meditation.

Attended all day meditation. When I arrived, the woman greeting people treated me like I was growing an extra head. Unfriendly does not begin to describe it. She said that the meditation doesn't begin for another 30 minutes so I ran to Fresh Market for a boxed meal for later.
You can only sit crossed legged on the floor, they do have some walking meditations interspersed into it but I'm over 60. I can't sit there in agony for hours on end. I left after 6 hours.

Kadampa Buddhism is an accessible form of Buddhism for English speaking people. We are blessed to have Gen Tilopa who became a monk in Scotland and immigrated to the U.S. The center is a welcoming place where one can learn the tenets of Buddhism and also how to meditate. To improve one's outlook on life will be the end result.

I came in the door almost 3 years ago and have not left. There is a peacefulness in this place that is so physically and mentally calming yet energizing in a very positive way. I found you can't change your life with one or two or ten sessions or classes. It takes practicing the teachings everyday outside the center to make those changes. Even just 5 minutes a day. I found it takes getting involved and genuinely being interested in not only changing your life, but those closest to you and then those not so close. Come visit and experience the teachings.

Wednesday night they have a 6 week Intro to meditation class. It's a bit long but very insightful and informative. Definitely recommended for beginners. Eric is great at answering questions and making you feel comfortable. Its not an easy task to keep you mind at ease and focused but this is a great place to start.

This is a Buddhist center but if you just want to learn how to meditate, they have a 6 week course for $5 per session on Wednesday evenings. They continuously run these lessons and you can drop in any time. I went to several sessions and they were very helpful, unobtrusive and full of useful techniques. Eric who taught the classes over the summer while the principal instructor was away is awesome. He has a very calming approach and is patient with students questions.
The introductory lessons are not strictly Buddhist so if you are just curious about meditation and want to learn ways to relax
