Dr. Pefkaros is a Board Certified member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He specializes in General Ophthalmology as well as Cataract, LASIK, and Glaucoma Surgery. He has a special interest in medical retina treatments for diabetes and macular degeneration. Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology & the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Rick is excited about our expansion into Viera and the addition of Dr. Walters to the practice. Rick has an extensive past of professional careers which include banking, lending, practice administration, and residential and commercial real estate. He grew up in Atlanta, GA, and San Juan, PR. He went to boarding high school at Tallulah Falls, GA and Berry College in Rome, GA.
A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye; cataract surgery is performed to improve vision by replacing the clouded lens with an artificial one. Cataracts affect millions of people in the United States each year. Most cataracts are the result of aging, though some form as a result of genetic factors, disease or injury.
I recently had cataract surgeries done on both eyes, Dr. Pefkaros performed the procedures. Now I have 20/20 vision! Thank you Dr. Pefkaros for giving me my vision back! No more contacts nor glasses. You are an awesome surgeon, and your staff is excellent too! Courteous, kind, patient, and very helpful.

A very personable and friendly staff that will acknowledge upon arrival. They are very thorough with the pretest. The doctors, I've seen two, are very extensive in their follow-up. They can talk to you about contact wear and glasses.

Outstanding service from staff and physicians. State of the art diagnostic equipment and testing procedures. Physicians took their time with exam and explained procedures as well as their diagnosis. Staff was friendly...caring..and professional. The Viera office was magnificent. I would highly recommend this group to anyone in need of eye care.

Awesome staff. fast friendly service. I am newly single and need to be able to clearly see any future prospects. I'm sure glad I can see clearly now. That young lady optician Julie (very cute but way too young for me) got me all fitted and seeing clearly and comfortably. I will be returning as needed as I have clearly found a home for my eyes.
