Michael C. Mapes, Esq. is a product of Northern California and the Sierra Nevada foothills. He was born and raised in Nevada County and married his high school sweetheart. His legal experience has previously included complex litigation and transactional matters for some of the most sophisticated firms in the state of California and Nevada.
Nelly Sang joined Mapes Legal, P.C. in 2020 as our Workers' Compensation Attorney in Nevada County, CA. In her 13+ years of practice, she has worked in litigation, as well as speechwriting and policy development. Nelly has been a licensed attorney since 2007 when she began her legal career in Criminal Defense as a public defender in Oregon.

We recently consulted with Michael about relieving an easement on our newly purchased property. He gave us a few options of how to deal with this, told us up front what his fees would be if we chose to hire him and also gave advice for what (possibly) we could do ourselves. Now that's unheard of for a lawyer, right? We highly recommend this gentleman.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this law firm and had a very mixed experience. Initially looking to have my estate docs reviewed and updated, I had a call with Mike on 1/20/21. He gave me pricing which seemed very reasonable and I was upfront with him about my terminal cancer and the need to get this work done as soon as possible. On 2/2/21 I dropped off my documents in person and dealt with Alexis on a grant deed. Both she and Mike were very helpful. I asked Alexis when they would be able to begin working on my estate docs and she indicated it would happen in the next few days.

Very nice & honest. I know that sounds odd with all the cliches about lawyers but Mr. Mapes spoke in a tone that was understandable, concise & clear. His office is located in the beautiful Post Office building. He also has a sense of humor and is very well versed regarding topics pertaining to the law.
