Services
In the summer of 1969, Judson Memorial Church approached local community activist Paul Ramos to help develop the "East Village Youth Project, " informally known as the Judson Mobile Health Unit. The Church was concerned about the health conditions among the "hippies" then flocking to the East Village.
HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) Health Center quality leader awardee annually since 2015. Level 3 PCMH recognition Patient-Centered Medical Home (PPC-PCMH) from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). A federally qualified community health center (FQHC) designation by HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration).
Betances Health Center offers a full range of primary care and preventive services, as well as complementary and social services for the entire family. Betances screens for: eligibility for enrollment into New York State's affordable health insurance plans: Child Health Plus, Medicaid, Medicaid Plus or a private Qualified Health Plans (QHPs).

In addition to providing quality health care, our outreach program engages the community by providing health education, screenings and nutrition information and more. We're committed to developing community-based, patient-centered care using state-of-the-art technology coupled with comprehensive, coordinated care.
In 1992, Section 340B of the Public Health Service Act was enacted. Section 340B requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to entities like Betances Health Center at a reduced price. In combination with our various partnering pharmacies in Manhattan, Bushwick, and mail order, these savings of about 40% on brand name drugs are passed on to Betances' patients who are eligible.

UPDATE: We walked down to Delancey Street at 3 pm. There is a Covid Testing truck parked outside. What a difference. First off you can scan their form, complete it and submit it via your phone. (Take note Betances--that elevates using a dirty pen). Second, the wait to be tested was about 15 min. Third, you can get both rapid and PCR testing. You have to wait 20 min for the results of the rapid test and the PCR results will be emailed to you. All in all a pleasurable experience. The staff is professional and respectful. I needed a mask ,so i went in,and asked for one,the guy sitting there near a box of them, refused to give me one ,said I had to be a patient ,so much for health care centers worrying about the spread of Covid

By far one of the worst clinics I’ve ever had to go too. One of the nurses said there was absolutely nothing wrong with me without even checking my vitals , blood pressure or temperature first , what a JOKE . She had a big attitude , tried to dismiss me like if I was a waste of time without even getting my blood pressure or vitals first , then one of the Board of Directors OR whatever he wanted to call him self also tired to dismiss me I tried my best to be polite about the situation . Would NOT recommend this place at all !!! My doctor wouldn’t see me because I came an hour before closing

Lost my insurance right before Covid & ended up on Affinity Medicaid. Called Betances ahead of time to ask specific questions- do they have a dentist, do they accept medicaid, do they do root canals and lastly, do they offer sliding scale (since medicaid won't cover root canals) phone person says yes to all questions so I made an appointment for Friday 8/20/21. Trains were delayed so I was asked to reschedule as a walk in on that following Monday. Before leaving since decided to fill out any nessesary paper work to speed up Monday's interaction. I’m not sure how this place has 5 start reviews! Since I’m new to the area I took a look at the reviews and made an appointment. The first time I was seating in a room for over 2 hr. No one came. I called and made a fallow up appointment to get the results of the test they order. As I’m trying to make the appointment the person helping me start to have a personal conversation with someone at the center. This review is for the Bushwick location. I have been to this place three times and have never had to wait and always been the only person in the waiting room, maybe in the whole clinic! The nurses and doctors are very friendly and thorough and the entire experience is very pleasant (or as pleasant as a doctor's visit can be). They also have an online patient portal that is helpful for looking at reports and booking appointments. Again, this is for the Bushwick location, which might be too new or out of the way to have many reviews yet.

I was in a program at Betances Heath Center since January of this year, the team is excellent, before I awarded 5 stars! unfortunately I must believe that the new person in charge of my program JORGE SARCOS had a bad day or the empathy and good predisposition in the attention is not his predominant quality! Yes, the staff of Betances Medical Clinic are polite and kind to most patients. However, anyone who has been a patient here should seek medical re-examination and get second opinions elsewhere. The doctors at this clinic will repeatedly tell you that your health is fine when you are not well at all, or you are dreadfully misdiagnosed. Again, urge anyone who is a patient of this clinic to seek Medical re-examination(s) elsewhere, as a precaution and/or second, or third opinion. Also, there is a high turnover of doctors here, for reasons unknown to the public.

Took my son out of school to have his dental cleaning seeing that this health center was 1 block away. The receptionist just kept eating and whenever I asked a question as to why we were waiting so long yet we are the only ones here she had so much attitude. I notice however she was nice to the Spanish people that she knows. Very unprofessional and slow!!!!!!!!! The Staff at Betances health Center is very unprofessional and disrespectful. When you call to schedule an appointment no one seen to know how to direct your call. They will keep you on hold forever, and if they can't help you they will just hang up the phone. If you call for Healow Login Credential no one seem to know anything about healow. This place sucks. Expect to wait at least an hour to see a doctor. I come here because of my mother who really can't be sitting up for too long. Do they care? I don't think so. Every time we come we wait at least an hour and their excuse is that they are backed up. We'll whoever is in charge of scheduling should be fired. It's just a frustrating situation. Good luck!

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!... Waiting times are insane. The people up front have no clue what the people in the back are doing. Had an appointment to get my results for blood tests... Was told I owed co pays plus that day's co pay. Was told I couldn't get my results until I paid "something"... I guess the patient bill of rights doesn't apply here. Anyway, it's typical of a clinic in a low income/working class area in America today.

. Great easy access to medical treatment. Medical staff and Suppourt has always been professional over the years I've been visiting. The front desk. making appointments over the phone is horrible. Either no one picks up the phone (happens often) or they pick up and say hold on right away. Other than that they seem to be ok.

Staff, from the receptionist and administrator to the medical assistant, nurse, and nurse practitioner that I interacted with, were all extremely pleasant. Facilities were clean and the waiting area is nicely designed. I had to wait longer than expected due to the insurance verification system being down, but that was something that was out of their scope of control. In terms of what they could control, I felt they truly were doing their best to provide excellent care.
