Color highlights are very popular, and50th Avenue Salon loves keeping up on new color trends. We have some amazing new colors in the Paul Mitchell line that all our stylists use with great results. Color highlights give a rich dimensional look to hair that makes it so much more interesting. If you look at celebrity photographs, the almost ALL have highlights in their hair.
The layered look for long hair is one of the most popular styles right now. Shorter layers around the face and neck create a beautiful framing effect. Layers may also give you more bounce and fullness in areas where the weight of the hair would pull it straight. Long layered styles lend themselves well to both formal and casual up-do's because the layers create wispy tendrils around the face and neck.
Although bob hair styles can look good on almost anyone, it's best to choose your bob haircut based on your face and hair texture. Straight hair works very well in a bob style and length. I walked in with a project: Go from black box dye to light blonde with minimal damage. Shelby was able to lift my hair to a light golden blonde, which is way lighter than I thought would be possible! It looks so pretty! and the best part is my hair still feels so healthy and soft. Even the price for the service was very reasonable! I am so glad I chose 50th avenue Salon.

I haven't actually been here for their beauty services, since my hair breaks off and falls out if I even think about doing anything harsher than a gentle wash or run a brush through it. I can't even blow dry it.
But I highly recommend the LMT who works out of this salon, she gets her hair done here, and she looks fantastic, so I feel qualified to write a review.

It was nice and they were great. I took my 6yr old in for his 1st hair cut ever! They were a friendly place to go and the people who work there is like a big family. They knew everyone who came in by name do they must be regular customers which is nice to see. My son is autistic and he usually freaks out about anything that has to do with touching his head, and he just sat there and had no problem at all letting s lady he didn't know cut his hair, and it was long and curly and pretty much had dreadlocks because he wouldn't let me brush his hair any more so it was time! Such a fantastic experience here today with the lovely Connie. It's so hard to find a salon in this neighborhood that isn't wildly expensive. Other places in this vicinity are literally 3 times the price.
At 50th you're not paying extra for midcentury modern decor and plants hanging in macrame holders.
Connie was extremely experienced (27 years at this salon!), timely and listened to what I wanted. She was also a lot of fun to talk to and down to earth.
I wish I could give this place an extra star.

Shelby is amazing! My young son has a LOT of anxiety when getting his hair cut. I called her ahead of time to ask if she would even be willing to cut his hair after explaining how he reacted at a couple of kid salons in the past. She welcomed us in:) Shelby calmly explained everything to my kiddo and gave him paper to cut to help distract him. He wouldn't get in the chair, so she cut his hair while he sat on a cushion on the floor. I was visiting town for business and wanted a blowout. I found 50th Ave Salon on Yelp and was able to book an appt for the next day at the ideal time for me. Rebecca washed, blew out, and curled my hair all in about 45 minutes and did a FABULOUS job! My hair lasted for the entire 3 days I was here for business, and all for $25 (+ tip). Highly recommended!

Rebecca gave me a great haircut. I have long hair and I wanted some layering around my face and long bangs. She took the time to show me the length (when dry) and was happy to cut it shorter when I asked. I was very pleased and for sure will be back.
Also, the location is great, there is parking and the vibe in the salon is chill. They carry a lot of product, which I appreciate. They even had some cute jewerly.
I'm not the one to give reviews, but I was so happy with my experience at this business. I thought I'd recommend to others.

I have been a loyal customer of Connie at 50th Ave Salon for the past 15 or so years. I have great hair and I think a lot of people think I am naturally blessed but Connie and I know it is all her. People constantly ask me if my strawberry blond hair color is real and where I get my hair done. I tell them all about Connie. But I can not believe the amount of people who say that is too far to drive. If you want beautiful hair you need to seek out a skilled professional and they are hard to come by. I current drive from St. Johns every 6 weeks to see her and would not consider seeing anyone else

I've been coming to 50th Avenue Salon since 2004 for manicures, pedicures, and later haircuts. I adore Maggie (the nail tech), my first experience with the salon. She makes you feel like you're the only customer she's ever had. She remembers the colors you prefer, the length you like, and if you prettify your nails, what kinds of nail art you like.
