Services
Founder and CEO of Longhorn Recycling, Johnny Triesch is a San Antonio native born and raised. After attending the University of Texas at Austin where he earned his BA in Marketing, Johnny began his career in recycling. He has gained a wealth of insight over 40 years. After serving as President of Newell Recycling, Johnny utilized his knowledge and experience to begin Longhorn Recycling L.P. in 1993.
Longhorn Recycling, L.P. established in 1993 is a family owned and operated scrap metal company. With a specialization in Ferrous and Non Ferrous metals, we now accommodate electronic recycling, otherwise referred to as e-Recycling. At LHR we collect, process, recycle, and ship both ferrous and non ferrous metals.
Longhorn Recycling, LP offers commercial pickup and delivery service for large quantities of metals. We focus on time sensitive pickup and delivery of containers for your business. The process begins with one of our team members delivering an empty container to your business or job site. Once the container is filled, a team member will pick up the container and deliver it to Longhorn Recycling for processing and payment.
We believe the key to honest, respectful recycling practices begins with transparency. At Longhorn Recycling we implement business philosophies that drive customer loyalty time after time. We maintain certified scales monitored by the Texas Department of Agriculture. Owner and Founder Johnny Triesch began recycling computers & electronics in 2012.

Me and my buddy have been using Longhorn for over a year
Like the easy route to the scale and coming out
We move quickly turning cans, wire and such
Get paid quickly too
Only twice in nearly 13 months were we tied up by slow lines and a recycling center that is awesome

The process was not difficult, I hired someone to help me drop off the junk then went to the window to pick up the money. I don't know if it's everyday but free candy is also given along with the money.

The process is not difficult and the staff was friendly. I first parked in the visitor parking by mistake, but an employee instructed me where to park my vehicle and load up a basket with my items to get them weighted. I recycled some ceiling fans, dog kennels and computers.
The only thing I disliked and it's my personal opinion is no one had face masks. Some employees had masks but down in the chin. The other people dropping off items were not social distancing. Be careful if you're individuals that respect the many American lives lost to the virus if you go visit.

Had a chance to meet with the staff today. They are extremely knowledgeable and went the extra mile to spend time with me. A bit of hospitality goes a long way in making lifetime business.
This location is impeccably maintained and they do an amazing amount of business.

Seems alright but not worth it for me. The guy that helped seemed nice and cool but the lady in the office is whatever, not much communication and gave off a negative vibe to put it nicely. It's been awhile since I've gone to exchange aluminum cans, like years, but I remember the currency for them was much better before. I had a small collection and needed to get rid of them so I came here despite the negative reviews since it's nearby and wanted to give them a chance (mainly because it's close by), and end result.. I recieved a buck.. Guess I'll just have to try a different location next time
