Fish is not local or fresh. Waitress actually told us everything comes frozen! Yes, it tasted that way. We had fish and chips, and fried clams. Will not return. Enough said!

Popped in for lunch while walking Old Bluffton. Staff was friendly and efficient. Fried pickles were among the best I've had anywhere, the "He Crab" soup was delicious and their take on shrimp and grits was savory deliciousness. Will definitely be back next time I'm in low county!

This was a great spot to stop off and have a legit seafood meal. I tried the clay chowder and had a flounder sandwich. Both were excellent. They have a rooftop bar and patio seating. We opted to stay indoors on first level because of it being a chilly December evening. This part of the town of Bluffton is very quaint.

He crab soup was nice and creamy, crab pieces shredded throughout. The grouper sandwich was good. The shrimp and grits was excellent and unique. Something you don't make at home easily. The fish basket and fries were great. You can tell the oil is fresh. The chili had a great kick. My 8 year old loved it!

This is LITERALLY….I sincerely mean LITERALLY THE WORST OLD FASHIONED IVE EVER ORDERED

Went to try happy hour. Got nachos, tacos and hush puppies. The shrimp tacos were fresh and good, the nachos supreme were average, could use some more tomatoes, lettuce and onion and some added black olives or beans would help.
The hush puppies were tasty and the honey butter was great. Beers and wines were good price. I do wish there were more vegetarian chosen on the menu.

Service and food was outstanding. Very accommodating on sides. It was a bit noisy and hard to have a conversation. We got there and were told that it would be a 45 minute wait and it was only about 20. What a pleasant surprise. When we were finished our server told us not to hurry as they didn't need the table right then.

Great place with amazing seafood and drinks. Bourbon selection was terrific. I had the scallops, clams and oysters with onion rings (fried platter). My wife had the fried fish bites with coleslaw. Everything as cooked to perfection! Excellent service. Great small town atmosphere with attention to detail. Loved the 1860 fire house door at the entrance!

Going to captain woody's is not only an evening dinner .. it is an event ! Going "upstairs" with friends is a weekend gathering. We all know we are "going to woodys"

Nestled in the Old Town of Bluffton is a yummy spot for a delightful meal. Today I opted for their Chef Salad with mounds of turkey, crispy bacon, sliced egg, red onions, diced cucumbers, as well as shredded carrots. Everything, including the lettuce, was so very fresh; it made leaving what I couldn't possibly finish behind akin to a crime! Yes, it was that good! The Crab Cake appetizer and Remoulade sauce looked delicious as well. The atmosphere is very casual, but the friendly, attentive staff take serving the customers very seriously. This establishment has a little of everything from the young to the well aged like fine wine. Host(es) to waiter(ress) are welcoming and I know they have a big smile behind their mask. FOOD WAS STUPENDOUS as my young daughter put it.

Pros: Delicious/fresh food, very quick serving, nice atmosphere, beautiful location.
Cons: I called and was told they don’t take reservations, got there and was told the wait was 1/2 hour but we waited an hour, larger groups that came after us were seated before us because they “have to seat large groups first” (yeah, because the restaurant will make more $$$ that way), and the place was very smoky for some reason?

Captain Woody's receives high praise from Yelp for its great ambiance including live music and drinks. Unfortunately, after I received my appetizer I quickly realized that's about all they have to offer. I ordered the Calamari which was underdone, fried poorly, and very bland. Then my main course was a seafood boil which left a lot more to be desired. If your looking for a spot to go out have a drink with some friends, have a good time, and listen to live music this is the spot; but, if you want to try some Carolina country seafood look elsewhere.

Food was good, pickles were extremely salty. Service was wonderful though...I was a true team effort by the staff.

We came here so many times at lest once in a month.
Im going to eat fish sandwich or fish or shrimp and grits. This is the best fish also grits I ever had in US.
Also Super good customer service and polite waiters and waitresses always.
We were satisfied every time visiting here.

Man was the food excellent here!!! The service was also top notch. I found this place on Yelp and truthfully thought it was going to be more of a dive. What a surprise. It was a nice place with great atmosphere, a rooftop bar and yummy food. What more could you ask for? Of yeah, reasonably priced as well! Will definitely go back.

Five star food but three star service this visit. I'll get the service part out of the way first--I honestly think we just had a new/inexperienced or slow or overwhelmed server. She was in absolutely no hurry even though the place was packed at lunch and the hostess kept shooting her daggers to move tables a bit faster (our whole lunch experience there was an hour and a half). Maybe just a bad day, who knows.

Just a short 15 minuets drive from Montage Palmetto Bluffs. It was worth getting out of the resort to eat lunch here. I really wanted to try oysters since I seen so many along the May River on my boating excursion.The oyster was great, very light in flavor, not as briny and plump but overall delicious. I also had the crab-cake sandwich which was bomb and fulfilling. The potato salad side was amazing! Also I saw a table of 4 and they all ordered the crab soup and I wish I tried it! I would definitely eat here again and it does have a nice local vibe.

Summary: A mostly seafood place with some salad, chicken and turkey sandwich, and burger options.

Though it looks much older due to the abundance of reclaimed brick and wood, Captain Woodys is only 12 years old. It uses those reclaimed materials to make a comfy, casual dining spot.

Omg. I've been dying to try this place out for years but never got the chance to do so until now. And let me tell you. I wish I had done it sooner!

This place is AMAZING!! We usually don't sit outside to eat but since it was busy we didn't care, the patio is so nice and cool not hot at all and very relaxing.

We started with the kicking camarones these were so good. The sauce is amazing. Fried shrimp drizzled with a ponzu sauce. Perfect match. Def recommend.

2 year update - food is not the same anymore. Sadly, the crab cakes and crab soup have minimal crab meat in it. Couldn’t even see it. You should not put them on the menu if you’re not serving crab lump. (Which was on the meal’s description) All the other sides and dishes were not that great anymore. Disappointed.

Was in town for golf and had to stop by. This is always a favorite and this trip did not disappoint. My brother and I went upstairs and enjoyed the music while having a great happy hour. The service is always good and quality of pour great. We had a shrimp basket that was great.

Woodys is always consistent. We have been there many times over the years and will continue to make this a regular stop. Highly recommend to anyone in town looking for good food, entertainment, and service.

I decided to stop in on my lunch break for a quick bite to eat. I am absolutely obsessed with Calamari, so I ordered that as my entree. It was absolutely amazing! The calamari was really fresh, and was fried to golden brown perfection in Captain Woody's batter. It came with a side of Ponzu Sauce (citrus-based sauce with a tart-tangy flavor similar to a vinaigrette). Wow! So good! It complimented my Calamari wonderfully. A++
Now, I will say- you need to get here early (like before noon) if you want to get an outdoor table during lunch hour. I arrived at about 12:04, and was informed by the

1. Blackened trigger fish, seasonal veggies, Ceasars salad, and homemade chips
2. Flounder, coleslaw, fries, and hush puppies
Service was great and food was beyond amazing! The flounder was good and seasoned and the trigger fish was blackened so might be a little spicy for some but its very delicious and no sauce is needed for either fish!

We came here looking for oysters and were not disappointed. We were seated promptly, the menu was easy to read and our order came out quickly. My husband had the shrimp and grits and it was amazing. Creamy grits with a savory gravy and the shrimp cooked perfectly. I had the fried oyster basket with coleslaw and it was just the tight size. Oysters were fresh and tasty! It satisfied my craving and we would definitely return!

Came in for a late lunch. Nice small place sitting every other table. Outdoor tented area also. Ordered the New England clam chowder. Good amount of clams and came out nice and hot. Tasted good. Then ordered the blackened grouper melt. Came open faced and also was good. Service was very good and was a nice atmosphere.

7/11/2020- I ended up here by chance since I had plans to go to HHI but the traffic was gridlocked to get on to the island. I was honestly pleasantly surprised by this place. The food and the service were excellent. There was little to no wait when we arrived around 6:30 PM on a Saturday night.

I had the shrimp and grits which is a dish I generally order at these coastal seafood establishments. This was really on par with the best I have ever had. A generous portion and full of flavor. It was simply delicious.

Also had a 1/2 dozen of the steamed oysters. It didn't say which region they were

If you're looking for a restaurant that checks the boxes, this does it.

We will be moving here soon and look forward to visiting Captain Woody's on a regular basis. We dined on the screened in patio. We had plenty of room even though it was busy. I got the trigger fish rueben, my wife had the fish n' chips, and my children had the shrimp kids meal and fish strip kids meal. Looking forward to coming back!
