Mac's Downeast Seafood

Definitely not the best meal. Ordered the scallops and shrimp. Questioned the cook on whether I received what i ordered. Pretty much blew me off. The girl was great unfortunately the cook was horrible in customer service and the food was extremely salty and way undercooked. KP has our vote. Praying we don't get sick.

Been here a couple of times now and I love the food and love the people and the environment. This is one of the best seafood shacks around.

I loved Macs seafood but the reviews are correct the food has changed I understand increases in cost but the seafood servings are decreased a combo plate of scallop and clams gave me second thoughts. I was asked about sweet potato fries which I said yes too I expected them to replace the regular fries . The regular fries which filled 3/4 of the plate were soggy and droopy , the sweet potato fries also were soggy as well. The seafood was okay but not crispy and not much lofty it. Even the coleslaw had a funny taste. The saving grace is that the young people doing th servicing were pleasant. Please

This used to be our favorite spot my mom and I eat out at this place when we had some extra money to have a good meal. But sad to say I'm giving this place a 1 star. They must of changed owners because it was all different faces and a different cook that didnt care how he was handling the food. And a prissy blond that snapped at my mom for refusing to give us our money back. We ordered 2 scallop dinners our favorite meal that we order. And for first time ever we could not eat the scallops they were cold and soggy and had a bad taste to them the breading would fall off the scallops cause of grease

Mac's has always been a go to for our seafood. Have always loved the large clear meat lobster roll that was packed full of sweet lobster. So when my husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday dinner, my response was just that. Much to my disappointment they are no longer jam packed full of meat, there was more bread than lobster meat. The meat was still fresh and sweet(hence the 2 stars), but not enough for what you pay.

This place is amazing! Their selection of fresh sides is awesome, stuffed mushrooms looked amazing and I'm definitely going back for them.
I placed a huge order and they quickly began to bread all the fresh seafood and fry it right in front of me!
It tasted amazing. Can't say FRESH enough!
Place was very clean and staff was nice and happy.
Will make a trip to go back there.

Convinced by reviews on reddit to go here instead of the "tourist" spots with the long lines . The signature large Clear Meat lobster roll was cold and soggy with small amount of rubbery claw meat only . The Fried Scallop was sent back because they were cold and soggy . Unapologetic they offered to make a fresh order . That next batch of scallop was just gross . Sitting in a puddle of dirty oil and barely holding on to any breading . One bite and omg soo bitter and salty . I've never in my long life had such a bad tasting piece of selfish. The Haddock chowder had no chunks of fish and undercooked

Super casual, mostly takeout. FABULOUS and FRESH seafood. Had a craving for a clear meat lobster roll and they made a terrific one! tons of variety of fresh seafood. The lobster tank was full and everyone was active. Super friendly and helpful staff. Try it you'll like it and you WILL be back regularly.

We read the reviews and decided to pop in for some seafood. The prices were fair for what we had, steamers and lobster rolls. The steamers were VERY sandy to a point that they were not enjoyable. The lobster roll was good, but they could have added a bit more meat. The restaurant could use a makeover.

We had good food here late one afternoon, good lobster stew, good lobster roll and we went away happy!

Lobster roll with lobster stew for my friend and I had the lobster salad roll with haddock chowder. So delish and fresh very small place ate outside at a pick nic table but with Maine weather it's not a problem.

Stopped for a quick seafood lunch and was very pleased. We had the haddock sandwich which was a generous portion and onion rings. They were lightly battered and cooked perfectly. Outdoor seating in the shade.

Highly recommended by friends as a great place for seafood.
On site/inside order of a lobster roll, clam dinner with onion rings came out swiftly.
Food was fresh, hot and pleasing to the eye.
We chose to sit outside at picnic tables where the attendant came out after a few minutes to ask how was our meal.
"Clams are soft + tasty; lobster sweet, it's very good"!
We'll return to Mac's Downeast Seafood.

I loved this placed when I wanted to eat a fried seafood, but recently I was disappointed as I went with my husband last Wednesday and to my dismay it was not good as before as they have a new management.
I ordered a whole belly clam dinner with sweet fried 🥔 fries.and as you look at the pictures, I cannot even see any whole belly clams at all..everything is coated but hardly see any whole belly clams. My husband call them the next day and they said that the belly clams they have is small..i just hope they tell the customers. I miss the old owner and his son as they friendly and look after

Delicious haddock sandwiches and fries. Could've done without the customer making racist jokes with the guy at the fish counter but I guess you can't have everything eh?

Love this place! Sweetest crabmeat in town!. These guys work hard and it shows!. I go here at least once a week either to pick up crab meat , lobster rolls , lobster dinner , or any one of their delicious seafood dishes. I've never had anything i didn't like here. Very informal ..pick up or eat outside,weather permitting!

This place is very good. I rarely give 5 but the clam chowder is the real thing. It ain't gravy folks, it's chowder and Mac does it right. Scallops are divine, lobster roll is perfection and the oysters wonderful. Some good people taking care of you too. Must try!

That hit the spot! Super fresh, friendly service, good prices and right next to Gifford's ice cream. Nice outdoor and indoor space.
I had the fish sandwich. Really nice piece of fried haddock with fixins and a nice soft bun! Nothin too fancy just tasty seafood done well! I don't go for fried seafood all that often but Macs will be on my radar for when I'm up this way!

We were looking for a place to eat, found this small place in auburn me, Wao just delish
My husband order the stew lobster which is a quart of lobster of course he added more to a pint, it was just fresh delicious meat!!!
I ordered the lobster roll & clam chowder, hands down, their chowder is simple no corn starch, all you taste is the clams, lots of lobster in my roll. Service excellent from the girl who takes the order to the owner himself.This is a for sure must come back whenever in this neck of the woods. Prices are not high, cause quality is excellent

You will NOT REGRET IT.... Absolutely phenomenal.... food couldn't be any more delicious .... had the lobster roll fish soup combo with a seafood cake , onion rings and cole slaw.... don't bother take any additional flavorings lie salt pepper or any sauces it's not necessary the food is just DELICIOUS, FLAVORFUL , FRESH & affordable ... I also love the laid back atmosphere ... Mac's assistant was awesome a sweet young lady friendly and helpful .... in town for three days ... I'll be returning tomorrow ...the onion rings were so flaky and flavorful ..... ENJOY.....

This is what I considered a real Maine lobster pound style eatery. Not pretentious, outdoor seating and friendly staff. The food is good for this type of joint. A quick lunch bite and snack. Fast service and easy location. The lobster roll I ordered is on a toasted big bun with a scoop of lobster meat mixed with mayo, the chowder we had was not creamy but lots of clam meat and not a whole lotta potato which is good. I wished they had baked clams but most of the stuff is fried. It was decent with a small menu. Yes and the price is decent.

Mac's is a little place with a few tables inside and plenty of space to eat outside when the weather is good.

Service is fast and the food is fresh. The lobster rolls are excellent and priced fairly.

Seafood doesn't get much better than Mac's!

Forget the tourist traps along the coast. Time and time again tat I have eaten lobster, the best places are the little divey looking places inland. Its more than a lobster paradise. Fresh clams, haddock, salmon, crabcakes. You can choose from plenty of options from the great lobster rolls to burgers to fish sandwiches or plates. They have fresh made soups, hand cut fries, fresh battered onion rings. There is a huge tank of lobsters and a refrigerated case of all the different fresh fish, and de-shelled lobster meat. The will steam and clean the lobster for take out or you can buy the live lobster

For my first Maine lobster roll, this place made it everything I thought it would be and more. It was delicious! I went back twice (after trying other places in Maine) and this place is it!!

Located in a small town about 40 min from Portland, I didn't know what to expect. I figured I would give it a shot though. The place is located in a small shack that offers carry out/counter service. There is limited seating but this was no issue for me while there as it was not crowded. I got the lobster salad roll and the lobster chowder. So simple and SO delicious. The buttery warm roll was perfect

This place was super amazing! My first time here and I got the large Haddock sandwich for $8. It was fantastic and they didn't skimp on anything, it comes with tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. The portion was a good size too! They sell fresh raw seafood, have a lobster tank, and I literally saw a fisherman come and deliver fresh fish while I was waiting for my order. I added a side of coke slaw which was also good. This is classic Maine seafood, but I have never as it this good so many miles from our coast...
