I have been buying my kids' shoes here for almost 4 years now. Every experience has been absolutely amazing. The owner is so knowledgeable, kind and helpful. He is great with the kids. Shoe selection is awesome and he knows what he is talking about when it comes to development needs, etc. During Covid, he even text me photos of shoes and ran them outside masked and tried them on my little guy in the car. Love this family-owned business. Please support them!

Carrara's Shoes is THE best children's shoe store in the city! We've been going to Carrara's for years, and we couldn't be happier with the service and products they provide.
The owner of Carrara's is an amazingly friendly man who always greets my family and I with a smile. His warmth and sincerity make each trip a joy. His extra attention to detail, and the knowledge he and his staff have about children's shoes is second-to-none. The staff always listens to what our child's specific needs are, and never tries to up-sell us. The shoes they recommend are always spot on.

You will not get a better children’s shoe buying experience anywhere! Zero exaggeration: we walked in today at 10:11 and out 15 minutes later with shoes my 5yo loves. That included measuring him, trying on a few different pairs, selecting a pack of unique socks, and paying. 15 minutes without tears or frustration.
They have a large selection including wide and half sizes and not only one or two pairs of Velcro gym shoes like most places once you get into sizes 13 and 13.5. The prices are the same as DSW but much better quality and superior customer service. I can’t recommend this store enough

Just the best. I called ahead to see if a certain pair my daughter had tried on previously were in stock. Over the phone, we were able to compare to other shoes we had purchased there. The owner knew which ran small, which were large, and was able to help me determine the remaining in-stock size would be a perfect fit, even without my daughter's foot there to confirm it. When I hung up my husband commented, "Wow. That guy was really knowledgeable." Great experience every time.

Came to get my son's feet properly sized and find some good quality shoes for an upcoming event that will also work for the school year. Staff was attentive and helpful from the start and brought a number of options to try. Once a decision was made, they welcomed us to stay and play with the train tables as long as we wanted. Price was reasonable--and comparable to online prices--for high quality brand in a style that made both my son and me happy. We'll definitely be back!

This is the best children's shoes store I've been to in multiple cities. The shoes are very high quality and the service is top notch. I first went with my mom to buy shoes for my 24 month old and the owner brought out pair upon pair for us to choose from and gave great advice to help us choose (we were choosing without the little one trying them on!). My husband went a couple of months later to ask about how to clean them and the lady started cleaning them herself!

Wonderful store! Great experience! I buy all of my child's shoes here. The owner assists you and I have confidence he is going to show us shoes that will be comfortable, fit well, and help her walk properly. He has toys in the store to keep the kids occupied while you're purchasing them. Love this store.

Best shoe shopping experience ever! Very nice salesperson quickly measured my son’s foot and gave us a few options. My son’s foot is wide so he brought out shoes that would be comfortable for him and easy to take on and off. Prices are comparable to buying online, but there is nothing like trying the shoe on in person. Will be coming back here for sure!

They are the best- so kind and helpful. They carry a beautiful variety of children's shoes. They will even measure your child's foot (I have never been successful with doing this myself). I have brought my older child's shoes in to the store with my younger child and they confirmed that the older shoes were the correct size. Nothing purchased- just outstanding customer service.

This is the absolute best place to shop for children’s shoes. The quality is excellent and the customer service exceptional. I am 65 and my mother bought all my shoes from the family that owns the shop. I bought all my children’s shoes here and now I am buying my grandchildren’s shoes at the same place. My grandchildren live in California and Renato, the owner, even ships the shoes out to them. We are Italian and great shoes is part of our cultural heritage. We had an absolutely wonderful time getting my son sized. He’s been walking for several months but this was our first time getting his feet measured for shoes. The owner was so kind and gentle. He obviously loves his job and we felt so lucky to experience his passion for helping kids find the best shoes possible!

This is the only place we go in Chicago to get shoes for my family.. can't say enough good things. They are endlessly patient, have an incredible selection, an incredibly child friendly space with toys and a train table.

Updated---owner contacted to say the short staffing was not the norm and offered to go out of his way to assist me. Definitely reflective of the 5 star reviews from other customers. I broke my own rule of yelping while angry!


They were definitely short staffed but still felt like they should have been better prepared on a Saturday. We stood around for 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. There also did not appear to be any kind of precautions in place other than a handwritten sign limiting 4 families at a time. They always have such great service and connect with my kids so well. My 2 and 4 year olds both got a couple pair of shoes and liked walking around the store while we were there. It felt safe and clean with Covid precautions and it was easy to keep distance from another family while we were there. I definitely recommend for high quality shoes and shopping experience!

Since then, we've purchased several more pairs, and each experience has been top notch. This is THE BEST place to buy children's shoes. It's so tempting to shop on Amazon or Nordstrom Rack or DWS but they dont measure your child's foot, nor do they explain how different brands have different sizes, nor do they assess your child's feet and gait to recommend for or against certain shoes. Carrara is ALLLL of those things. They truly truly care about your child and his/her feet. They curate their shoes accordingly and their selection is perfect!!!

Out of the blue, our newly-4-year-old daughter started complaining that every pair of shoes she owns hurt her. After two brand new pairs of shoes bought online suffered the same consequence, I wanted to try on some locally.
