Nate has been a licensed general contractor in both Washington State and Minnesota, and has worked off and on in this field for the last 25 years. He has honed his craft since his days growing up on a farm, and today blends this expertise with a deep understanding of home ownership, the housing market, and strategic approaches to home improvement.
In addition, Nate holds an MA in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota and is certified as an Aging in Place Specialist by the National Association of Home-builders. Arwen is a committed and talented member of the Team! In addition to attending seventh grade Spanish Immersion, Arwen provides administrative support for her mucho proud Daddy, who would be buried under piles of paperwork without her!

Prairie Home Improvement was built intentionally by a farm boy turned academic who chose to walk away from a career in higher education to build a company that reflects his passions and values-a company that focuses on helping families to love their homes no matter the stage of their home ownership journey.
Prairie Home Improvement helped give this successful young professional the kitchen of her dreams. This basement started as one large room but was soon transformed into an additional bedroom and bathroom, just in time for the arrival of this family's new bundle of joy. This 1920's bungalow gets a major upgrade when an unused bedroom is converted to a large, spa-like bathroom, complete with a soaker tub.

Nate did a fantastic job on our kitchen! He always let us know what was happening every step of the way.
He did a great job in coordinating the work of the counter top installation and the install of the sink.
He also did an amazing job installing the backsplash tile. We absolutely love it. Our kitchen went from drab and dreary to amazing and inspiring! It is a joy to cook in now.
He was very pleasant to work with. He even made friends with our dog who is usually very wary of new people.
I would highly recommend Nate and Prairie Home Improvement for any home remodeling project.

We are so impressed with Nate and his team from Prairie Home Improvement, and can't recommend them enough! They did a fantastic job on our lower level kitchen and bath remodel, and even as changes to the project came up or adjustments needed to be made (as what usually happens with renovations) his team helped work through them quickly and we still finished on time. We enjoyed getting his perspective and expert guidance, and are absolutely thrilled with the end result. We will definitely continue to use him on future projects, thank you Nate!

I recommend Nate Sawyer of Prairie Home Improvement for any remodeling needs you may have. My husband and I were comfortable with Nate at our first meeting. He is a great communicator and answered any and all questions promptly. His work is over and above what we could have hoped for. A long-mooted bedroom-to-bathroom remodel has come to fruition. LeVahn Brothers plumbing suggested Prairie Home Improvement for the carpentry portion of the project and I could not be happier with the results. Nate brought in three tradesmen who performed splendidly while his own work is of the highest quality. Great vision, excellent skills, first-class communication, fair pricing - what more could you want?

I worked with Nate on our basement remodel, which included a bedroom and bathroom. Nate was super easy to work with and provided us with great recommendations on how to best utilize the space. Throughout the project, he provided excellent communication around statuses and next steps and answered my (many) questions quickly.
