Phamaly Theatre
Phamaly Theatre Company's mission is to be a creative home for theatre artists with disabilities; to model a disability-affirmative theatrical process; and to upend conventional narratives by transforming individuals, audiences, and the world. Phamaly Theatre Company strives to create a world in which disability and the differences within the human condition are celebrated and the theatre experience is accessible and welcoming to all.

In 1989, PHAMALy (Physically Handicapped Amateur Musical Actors League) was founded by five students from the Boettcher School in Denver, all living with disabilities, who had grown frustrated with the lack of theatrical opportunities for people living with disabilities. In 1990 PHAMALy produced its first show - Guys and Dolls.

Originally created as the Physically Handicapped Amateur Musical Actors League, PHAMALy was founded in Denver by 5 individuals with disabilities who were graduates of the Boettcher School - Kathleen Traylor, Gregg Vigil, Teri Wagner (formerly Westerman), Kevin Ahl, and Rick Britton. Phamaly produces its first show at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) beginning a longstanding community partnership between the two organizations.

I love what Phamaly Theatre Company is doing to show the abilities of diverse people! I saw their production of Harvey at the Olin Hotel last year and was blown away! As a person with a disability and a Bachelors degree in theatre, I think my opinion counts a lot. Go see a show!

I have seen a few performances and they are riveting and moving beyond "normal theater". Seeing Caberet through the cast's eyes was haunting when you think about who the Nazis targeted first.
Annie was similar.
I was so emotional for both shows and I love being pushed out of comfort zone and really thinking about the plight of the characters.

A laudable and impressive company that was easily in the top 3 of several theatres I visited this summer while traveling around the country. I particularly appreciated how Phamaly stays true to its mission of casting actors and theatre professionals with some sort of disability, but does not emphasize those challenges, instead finding ways to bring out the best of each individual as it relates to the performance at hand. It seems like Phamaly has increased its programming over the last few years, and it's clear that they maintain high and committed artistic integrity, so they are definitely

What a moving insightful experience I had attending Phamaly's currently running show The elephant Man. The acting is always superb and the writing gave this historical account a warmth to these characters I hadn't known of before. Bravo to Phamaly for another great production.

From the first moment of seeing who Phamaly is I have been awe inspired. I was introduced to Phamaly by Christopher Simmons. After his accident while in the Marine Corps, rendered him a quadriplegic, he was thrilled to find a place to start the next chapter in his life. He loved stand up comedy and then finding Phamaly and having a stage gave him new life. We lost Christopher in 2000, but Phamaly has always stayed close to my heart.
See the Elephant Man yesterday just reminded me why. Phamaly has a knack for choosing the right play and within minutes of the start you don't see the physical
