My wife and I love Curry Leaf. It's our favorite Indian restaurant. No other compares to it. We always order the biryani and butter chicken with vegetable samosa and we are never disappointed. This time we tried dosa with potato as well, and it just made everything better. Plus we always have great customer service.

The food was only kind of ok and over priced for what it was. There was also a roach problem. One was right on our table nestled into the napkins.
I'm not usually one to write a negative review but this was a pretty bad experience for me and my partner.
The staff weren't rude but also weren't polite. From our perspective, they just seemed to be existing while waiting for closing time.
It was pretty clear there was a good reason it was empty with only a couple people other than us who came in and they only ordered take out.

This will be a 2 part review, one for takeout and one will be dine-in.
Take out: my brother ordered a whole bunch of dishes, paneer curry, fried onions, buttered chicken (which they forgot but he did get it the next day), and garlic naan. The portions were small but the food was delicious.
Dine-in: they have a buffet and I'm sure you can also order through their menu. There were gloves you have to put on as you take what you like. They had buttered chicken, paneer curry, fried bitter melons, tandoori chicken, chicken curry, naan, biryani, etc to name a few. My brother said they change the

Without claiming to be a cultural expert, I HAVE dined in Indian restaurants and I know I can judge the quality of food if not it’s authenticity; this said, the food is OK but not more than that. I would have given them a 3-star review hadn’t been for the undisclosed COVID-19 surcharge. Not really sure what that was all about? Service was so-so... I will definitely not go back there. There are better Indian restaurants in the area for sure...

Wow! We've been told to come here since moving to GR about 18 months ago and dragged our feet. I really wish we hadn't. Everything was delicious! If you haven't had this restaurants food yet and even slightly like Indian cuisine, you gotta get over to this spot!
Vegetable samosa was a highlight and the Vindaloo was fabulous. Gonna keep coming back for the Bullet naan and Tomato Dalcha.
Have to say I was really skeptical to come here at first, because I typically find Indian takeout to lose something in transport; but it was very well arranged and easy to recreate once we got

This place used to have the best Indian food in town. The last 3 time I have gone it has just been pretty awful. Watered down sauces and flavorless rubbery chicken. It's pretty clear that the cooking staff and new owner have just given up.
I will probably just start eating at Indian Masala. It isn't quite as good as Curry Leaf used to be, but it is a damn sight better that Curry Leaf now.

We stopped in on Valentine's Day and were delighted by the food at this restaurant. We were welcomed and seated right away, the service was respectful and answered questions about the food. I had the Pakoda Vegetable appetizer and Tandoori chicken, we also had Chicken Tikka garlic naan, chicken curry. Delicious and filling. Good atmosphere, service and food. Mango shakes and Indian tea were delicious also!

It never looked like much, kind of a hall in the wall. This place used to serve the best Indian food in Grand Rapids. I don't know what happened, but this is not the same restaurant AT ALL. Beware if you loved this restaurant before, because the dishes are not the same even though they keep the same names as the previous owner/chef.
So sad to see...I recommend Indian Masala now, on 28th street. Fantastic food.

This place used to serve the best Indian food in town, until they were sold and bought by new owners in fall of 2019. Ever since, the quality of the food has dropped consistently; the manager who hails from my home state in India used to be hands on in the kitchen and overall experience, now he has quit recently, and there is a marked decline in the taste and quality of dishes that tasted excellent before.
They have started adding too much oil and baking soda to everything causing discomfort after eating (no matter how little you eat). If they intend to retain the reputation built so far, they

When you first see Curry Leaf, you're probably wondering if you're at the right place because the exterior looks like a diner. Don't worry; you're at the right place. Curry Leaf is way better than it looks and it's actually my favorite Indian restaurant in Grand Rapids.
Whenever I eat at an Indian restaurant, I want to eat everything! I don't want just butter chicken, curry, or tikka malasa, I want it all! This is why I always go to Curry Leaf for their lunch buffets. You can sample many dishes and they offer a wide variety of options. This includes vegetarian, dishes

Service, as is typical with Indian restaurants, is lacking. They seem annoyed to have customers. And whereas other restaurants, whether a typical American restaurant (say, Denny's) or other Indian buffets in the area (say, Pal's Indian Cuisine) let guests stay past "closing" time, these folks were sure to let us know that they were closing at 2:30. Alright, fine, we didn't come in last minute and had had plenty of time to eat.
But then there's the food. As I said, we didn't come in last minute. Closer to 1:00. So with an hour and a half before the place closed

I ordered the food via Yelp/GrubHub so I can't comment on the restaurant itself. However, the ease of ordering online and picking up at the restaurant was great. By the time I got there the order was ready and waiting, before the estimate that GrubHub gave me. I was pleasantly surprised.
The food was top notch. I got Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan bread and both were extremely delicious. Portion size was very good and the prices felt very reasonable. I'd return if I'm ever in the area again.

Curry Leaf is by a long shot my favorite Indian restaurant in the GR area. It's a newer addition to the South Asian food scene in this city (its only been around for about two years) and it's inside a old remodeled diner. I thought it was going to look jank and weird inside, but they actually pulled it off on the inside. It looks and feels like a proper Indian restaurant, just with some 1950s-style diner windows. I'm all for it.
The food is excellent, and has me coming back for more and more, which is a challenge, being on the literal opposite end of the city for me. I usually stop

I would give zero stars if I could. 'Uncourteous' is the word for the person who was the 'host'. Yelp and Google maps said the location is open till 3:30 but they mentioned they close at 3. Now we were there at 2:48 and he was rude enough to just simply say 'NO, you won't be able to FINISH your food by 3'.
I have always known that the restaurants take the last order by their closing time and not when the patrons are able to finish, just didn't make sense. To top it all, he didn't even apologize once!!!

In a city criticized for its lack of diversity, Curry Leaf is a breath of fresh air in a food scene desperately needing a little edge and spice. Curry Leaf is a larger Indian restaurant with really, really good Indian food. Actually, even after traveling to India, dining in top Indian restaurants in NYC, DC, and Seattle, Curry Leaf delivers the BEST Indian food I've had.
