AIRspace is a 9-month residency for QTPOC performing artists to connect and share work and resources with each other at SAFEHouse Arts, a traditionally dance-centered performing arts cooperative program based in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco.
In exchange for these services, artists are encouraged to pay a voluntary $25 registration fee AND/OR volunteer at SAFEhouse. The registration fee is not meant to cause any hardship, if you are unable to pay the registration fee, please email joe@safehousearts.org to make other arrangements.

As for volunteering, this is meant to be an opportunity for artists to take ownership of the organization and to learn the production side of a performing arts organization by being responsible for day-to-day operations. The SAFEhouse Artist Cooperative is a group of Bay Area artists that provide a safe place for local artists to make new work that is sustainable and equitable.
AIRspace was founded in1987 at the Jon Sims Center for the Arts, which was dedicated to supporting queer and trans artists of color and people living with HIV/AIDS. In 2007, after the close of the Sims Center, the program was transferred to SAFEhouse and operated as a no-frills residency for queer artists.

Gonna be a Co-oper there. Come check out our shows and join my community based performance group "the MOB" where you'll get to perform along side professional dancers and be apart flash mobs throughout The City. Look forward to seeing 👀 you there!1
