Working with Gloria helped me to gain so much insight into how I relate to myself, my children and my husband. She has a true understanding of the intricacies of human relationships, and provided such thoughtful guidance and wisdom. I believe all clients deserve to be treated based on what is unique and special to them and their situation.
Our relationships give us the joys and sorrows and everything in between that we take with us through our lives. Relationships can nurture us or deplete us, fill us with gratitude or make us feel empty with longing. Sometimes we get stuck in feelings like anxiety, depression, or anger and those all affect our relationships.
Gloria has a rare blend of wisdom, directness, no-nonsense pragmatism, humor, gentleness and sincere compassion. I felt a true sense of connection and understanding from her very early on, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about me. One of the greatest benefits of therapy is that it can change the nature and pattern of how we attach to the significant others in our lives.
There are many approaches to couples work. Among them are Emotionally Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, The Gottman Method and more. All these and others are useful to producing change and improvement depending on the individuals, the specific issues and the clinician's abilities. Personally, I've found there is no "one size fits all" method for couples work.
Gloria has been a wonderful help to my well being and a guide in moving me from darkness to light. Truly, she has helped me with my family relations and I feel better about my own self worth. Most of us want to live long lives, but how many are really equipped to deal well with the challenges of advancing age?
