Go here a lot, food is good. Service is usually good but the waitress tonight threw away all our sushi instead of boxing it! I can't believe anyone would do that. We were waiting for her to box it, but then she told us she threw it out because she thought we were done! Had at least a roll and a half left. She didn't try to rectify situation, just said she "misunderstood" and thought we were done, even though I had asked her for a box; she even asked me if one box was OK. But front desk was nice and offered me a roll to go after I told them what happened. Still wasn't as much as waitress threw away

I've been here a few times now and I've tried a few different things. I probably wouldn't have tried them again if it weren't for my husband who loves this place.
I tried their teriyaki chicken and would give that two stars, it was two pieces of very bland chicken breast drenched in teriyaki sauce, with rice and frozen vegetable medley in some translucent sauce that made them even more soggy.
Next up, sushi. I love sushi and love a nice tuna or salmon roll. Presentation here is a 5/5 but flavor is 1/5. This was not good sushi at all. I can't really pinpoint what was wrong

Tiny, minuscule, small are three words that would adequately describe the sushi at Genki Sushi, in Wilmington NC. It was a shock to see how small the portions were and the quality was ok at best! High prices, small amounts and just okay flavor. 👎👎👎
Anything and everything is an up charge! Spicy Mayo, real wasabi, sushi rice instead of soggy rice is an up charge and if you dare pay by credit card, well, that’s $3 charge. They justify that by saying gas stations charge extra for using CC! 🤷🏻♂️ Luckily, the bathroom usage was on the house - at least for now!

I never write reviews, but i need to share how awful this restaurant is. i’ve never been inside, but the food was awful. i paid $20 for 10 chewy pieces of shrimp with watered down mayo. i got two sushi rolls. one of them was the wrong order and the other was disgusting. i paid $30 in total for food that gave me food poisoning (and wasnt even worth it). do NOT eat from here.

I've been here a few times in person pre-pandemic; was a solid 4 star spot but got take out last night and wow, 5-stars on their steak! Ok, I had hibachi steak and chicken - steak cooked medium - even my wife who's not been in a steak eating kinda mood (blame pregnancy) was like, "wow, that's great steak!" Ok, that is all - of course since we didn't eat there I didn't take any pictures and didn't even think to take any until the meal was half gone - but it's the next day now and that steak has me feeling all, "man, I should get on Yelp and tell

How is this place in business? Let my start by saying no sushi is bad sushi except for this place.
I got the Philly roll, Las Vegas roll, fisherman's catch and spicy sashimi maki and paid ~$42 for it.... what a huge disappointment when I got home and opened the box. Take a look at the pics. Would you pay $42 for what I got? Grocery store sushi is better than this!!
Now I've never been here before but I was able to distinguish which rolls were which by order of elimination. My spicy sashimi maki was literally shrimp tempura wrapped in nori with rice on the outside and sesame seeds.

Our overall experience was pretty positive. The sushi selection is wide and the fish is fresh. There was no wait and our waitress was pleasant. The house specials are unique to the place, the rice consistency was just right, and the individual pieces were also wrapped tightly...they did not fall apart when I was trying to eat it. The only issue we had was the wait time for our food. Granted it was 7pm on a Saturday night. However, there was only two sushi chef and it took us around 30 minutes to get our food. We might go again on less busy place.

We love eating at Genki. It's a small restaurant but the staff is always attentive and professional. Always welcoming when you arrive and throughout our meal.
Food is delicious. We always have sushi and haven't tried their cooked foods.
We eat there mostly for lunch because I love their bento boxes. Dinner is great as well. Can be busy on weekends.
They are in the Harris Teeter shopping center at Kildaire & 10-10.
