How do I know if my family or loved ones need intervention services? If you have a loved one that needs substance use treatment but do not know how to navigate the territory, I can help. There are many models and theories on what works and what doesn't when it comes to interventions. An intervention is a meeting with family, friends, and others to have an open discussion regarding your loved one's substance use or abuse.
The purpose of a professional evaluation is to determine if a substance use problem exists and if so, how severe it is. A substance abuse evaluation is a method that is used to identify the extent of someone's use, misuse, and abuse of alcohol and other drugs. You will be given several standardized questionnaires (Cage Aid-4, SASSI-4, DAST-10) and a biopsychosocial assessment.
A SAP is a professional that has been qualified through an approved national training program to evaluate safety sensitive employees who have violated a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol program regulation. A qualified SAP completes an evaluation process and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare so that an employee meets requirements for the potential return to duty.
