Cathy R. Cook, Attorneys at Law is a full service family law firm, meaning we handle all aspects of family relationships. These are termination of marriage, child custody and support for parents, married and not, spousal support, post-divorce matters, grandparent and other relatives' visitation, step-parent adoption, premarital agreements, and civil protection domestic violence cases.
Since the Supreme Court has recognized same-sex marriage, are we married if we had a church ceremony, but no legal marriage?. No. Ohio no longer allows common-law marriage, which permitted couples to hold themselves out as married without legally marrying. If you want your marriage recognized by the state, you must have a legal marriage performed.
Child support is based on a formula that considers each parent's gross income, child care expenses and health insurance costs. The parent who has the children the majority of the time generally receives child support. If the parents share equal time, the parent who makes more generally pays child support.

What words comes to mind when I think about Cathy and her team? Heart, stamina, tough. I had a long divorce process over the months of Covid. It was extremely complex and contentious. Cathy guided me through things I didn’t even understand until we went to trial. She had our facts and documents ready and prepared and she came to trial with all the heart, stamina and strength as if she were fighting for her own family. And when you’re going through this ugly process isn’t that really what you need? She is frank and will never tell you what you want to hear but will rather tell you what you

This firm deserves more than a 5-star rating. Prior to working with Cathy, my case was at a total standstill for over a year. Cathy took on my extremely difficult case and since then things have been moving forward.
During our calls/meetings Cathy took the time to listen to my concerns, answered all my questions and provided meaningful feedback. The entire legal team is incredibly responsive, and they go above and beyond to help you. Cathy is always very well prepared for court and presents the information well.
The billing practices at this firm is incredibly reasonable. Attorneys and paralegals

Top shelf attorney. Cathy and her team assisted me through a long, complex divorce process with expertise and true professionalism beyond what I could have expected.
The most important thing to know is that Cathy is dynamite in the courtroom! A force to be reckoned with, and this is the place where you really get to see her shine.
She is also supported by a first-rate legal team who she counts on wherever possible so that you don't end up paying more costly attorney fees for the work that a paralegal or office manager could be doing. This was evident all the way through, and I saw instance after

Cathy Cook’s office provides efficient and excellent service. Her associate attonrey, Ethan Arenstein, is very direct, knowledgeable, and does a great job of setting expectations. Ethan does a great job of remembering the details of your case and uses billed hours very effectively. The firm is very responsive to their clients.
The retaining price is higher than other firms, however, the billing of hours is extremely fair which is what matters most. They will not nickel and dime you for questions that may arise and will charge you maybe for 10 minutes for several email exchanges. Tasks are delegated

I contacted this office in seek of counsel to represent myself in a multi state child support case. I am not from Ohio and after searching and reading reviews I decided to reach out to Cathy's office. The legal assistant was extremely friendly and very helpful. She scheduled a consultation for 1pm today. Cathy whom I'd read such glowing reviews about was rude, abrasive and just overall unprofessional. She repeatedly cut me off and had the audacity to tell me that I was "unprepared." I am consulting you in order to decide whether or not to pay you to complete a service, I am not asking for a favor

My husband and I retained Cathy Cook to represent us in a custody case. Cathy has worked very closely with us. She is very straight forward and tells you how it is. That is what we love about her and her staff. She gets straight to the point of the issues. She returns your call and email quickly and put your mind at ease. I would highly recommend using her services to anyone that is going through a hard custody case.

Cathy is a great attorney. While she commands an hourly rate on the high side, she bills you very gently in my opinion. She portions a lot of the workload to her paralegal Scott (he is great also) which saves you money. I emailed her a ton and was always billed extremely fair. Cathy is very blunt and straight to the point. Do not be sensitive, this is a great trait to have in an attorney. She isn't being mean she is providing you with the responses you need. You are getting truthful answers with no B.S. YOU WANT THIS FROM YOUR ATTORNEY!!
Even though she can be blunt, Cathy and her staff are very

I have been working with Cathy and her team for over a year now through a difficult divorce and custody situation, and I have been impressed every step of the way. As others have pointed out, Cathy is a straight shooter and won't sugar coat things in order to try to make you feel better. At first this is a little surprising, but you quickly come to realize that it is the best way. She is honest and forthright, and this includes the way she assists her clients financially by allowing the various members of her team (who are also highly skilled!) to handle any of the tasks they are trained to do

Cathy Cook is an outstanding attorney and I would highly recommend her to anyone who may be in need of legal counsel. I have been working with Cathy for 11 months now and my experience thus far has been extremely positive. I agree with several client reviews that Cathy is very professional, knowledgeable and hard-working. Her communication is straight forward with no emotional game playing which I appreciate. Cathy is very efficient with her time and her billing is fair and reasonable. When I went to trial, Cathy was a strong confident litigator who was well prepared to present my case. Cathy truly

When I first began the process of divorce in 2007, I had initially retained a Cincinnati divorce attorney who turned out to be a very big and costly mistake. His approach to my case was a "Wait and see" attitude, and things were going nowhere. I began to seek referrals from people who had been through the process, and Cathy's name came up time and time again. I fired the original attorney, hired Cathy Cook, and never looked back.
Cathy is a well-respected no nonsense attorney who gives it to you straight and sugar coats nothing. She and her team are diligent about returning phone calls, emails
