Melfi's
Melfi's is a grown-up, clubby, classic Italian restaurant in downtown Charleston with fresh pasta, salads, larger plates, and Roman-ish thin crust pizza. We have a long wooden bar, a variety of linen-draped dining tables, and an intimate pizza counter where guests can watch the action surrounding our two wood burning ovens. The sophisticated surroundings are the perfect setting for an intimate dinner for 2, or for a proper adults evening on the town.

I was excited to try this restaurant out, as I have heard great things. Let me begin by saying, the wait staff and manager went above and beyond to make our dining experience as pleasant as possible. I think our first mistake was to go on a Monday night and like everywhere else, they were short staffed. We had to wait around thirty minutes past our reservation time to be seated and there were empty tables in the restaurant. It was late, we were tired and hungry. The menu offers several salad choices, a few starters, three pizza choices, four pasta choices, four entrees, several desserts, and a

I made a visit to Charleston and was recommended Melfi's by several coworkers. I am so glad I managed to snag a reservation because this is one of my favorite meals I've ever had. My sister and I started with the fried zucchini and arancini appetizers. The arancini was a perfect small bite with fried cheesy goodness and I could've bathed in the sauce. The fried zucchini was perfectly seasoned and had a texture like shoestring potatoes. My one feedback for this is that it would be great if it came with an aioli dipping sauce or even that fabulous marinara sauce that the arancini came

We stood at the outdoor cocktail area, which has a nice ambiance. We had to prod the hostess for someone to come out and take our order, but I was blown away by how good the cocktails were. Unique and well-crafted!

Melfi's is definitely a fine dining restaurant and my experience was nothing but good. I really loved the food! The 'Warm Crab Bruschetta' as a starter was fantastic. The bread was so fresh and perfectly crunchy... The combination of flavors and textures was perfect. As for the main meal, I got 'Bucatini 'Cacio e Pepe'. Same! Amazing! The dessert didn't disappoint either. Service was friendly and attentive. Great place for a special occasion!

Good not great. The fish was amazing. The buccatini tasted like kraft mac and cheese which was good but definitely not worth the price. The calamari was great. The waiter was super friendly. Very fancy place and a nice experience but would not go again.

Melfis is fine dining at its best. A downtown gourmet restaurant on upper King St.
The historic site is a renovated pharmacy with a metal tin ceiling and arched windows. Known for the freshly made pasta dishes, I enjoyed the linguini and clams. Perfect.
White table clothes and a team of waiters look after your every need. Wonderful appetizers and glorious wines. What a special treat.

It's a shame. Melfi's used to be one of our go-to places in CHS. But they've now started pricing their menu like they were on Park Ave. NYC. Food is good, for sure. But $37 for a plate of pasta?? $22 for a glass of wine. Seriously? I get the whole supply chain thing, but this feels like outright greed. My wife and I, and most of our neighbors have scratched Melfi's from our list. Too bad. It used to be a great combination of food, atmosphere and value. But two drinks a piece, split a salad and two pastas....over $200?? We're out.

Melfi's is so good if you're looking for high end Italian. The brick building is charming. They have a parking lot which is great. We sat on the patio which is for walk ins and we didn't have to wait at all. We tried the stretch armstrong and loved it. Followed by cacio e pepe and paccheri and finally tiramisu (and an espresso martini). Everything was really good, especially dessert. It is quite expensive but we knew that going in. Service was really great as well.

This place is fantastic! The service is friendly and attentive, I don't think our water glasses were ever empty. We had some pizza and tiramisu, both were delicious! We didn't order wine but one of the couples next to us did and it seems that the staff is very knowledgeable. Even the other patrons were friendly. All around, a fantastic experience and we will be back many times!

We've had Melfi's on our radar for some time and finally went! Reservations are far out there so plan accordingly.

Overall it was a good experience! The menu is quite limited so that is the reason for 4 vs 5 stars. My hubby got Mrs Melfis pizza and I got the pasta dish with the ground veal. The pasta was amazing but also quite expensive. The pizza was not award winning but good quality ingredients. Lucky for my hubby that I can't eat a full bowl of pasta! If I did, he may have needed to order another pizza!

I really enjoyed this Italian spot. We had an outdoor table that was still cozy enough for friends to catch up. We all got different pasta entrees and tried a bit of everything. We had the dessert specialty, which was handmade gelato. I would come back to this place whenever I'm back in Charleston.

Absolutely perfect!! It is a bit of a wait to get a reservation but it is well worth planning ahead and getting a table. The service is unmatched. Every single thing we ate was delicious! We could not say enough good things about Melfi's from the second they opened the door for us till we left! Definitely a must visit on King Street and we will be back!!

As stated in my Leon's review, we thought it was odd for a restaurant to send us to another restaurant for drinks while we wait for our table. However we were glad they did. Our experience at Melfi's was awesome. I love the music, jazzy blues with a big band feel. There is a gentleman who opens the door for you and it feels like you've stepped back in time. We sat at the bar and had a few cocktails, before we knew it an hour had passed.
I would absolutely visit again to actually dine in. The staff was wonderful, I liked the look of the bartenders with "old school" aprons on and the manager/owner

In a word...wow. Service? Excellent...Food? Delicious. Atmosphere? Unrivaled. I've been in Charleston for 2 whole days and this is the best of the best. Do yourself a favor and stop by Melfi's to see Ricky and Jay. You wont regret it.

PS They do charge for the "still" water lol

Melfi's is located in a small brick building with welcoming emerald doors on upper King St. Charleston locals know how unusual it is for any restaurant in downtown Charleston to offer free parking, and that's just one of the fantastic qualities Melfi's has to offer.

Upon entering Melfi's, one is greeted by warm and welcoming tones, plush leather textures, and a luxurious ambience seemingly plucked off the streets of NYC and relocated in little Charleston, SC.

The menu is simply fantastic. The tuna crudo is an excellent choice of appetizer, as it offers complex flavors and

Melfi's is the Italian concept for the ownership that has 2 restaurants directly across the street. Their Instagram photos looked great, so made this a stop to break up all the southern food I was eating.

Very classy looking dining area, but was whisked into the covered patio area where our reservation was. Other than the occasional , nice set up on the side

From previously looking at photos and menu, knew right away to begin with the Stretch Armstrong pizza. While vacationing in Rome, didn't eat pizza, but this one is excellent. The cheese is fresh, with a lot of moisture, and slightly

This was maybe our favorite dinner during our trip to Charleston. We were trying to not have every meal seafood based and searched for Italian and found out about Melfi's. So glad we did!
We started with the spicy Caesar salad and loved it. It's a little hard to eat with the full lettuce leaves and small plates, but the flavor is amazing.
I got the Mrs. Melfi's pie, and my husband got the pacherri. No exaggeration that his pasta was one of the best pastas I've had. I loved the duck ragu. It was just amazing and the pasta itself was wonderful too.
My pizza was delicious and

Went for my wife's birthday. She ordered the "Mrs. Melfi's pie" and I ordered the Mafalde Pasta. The food was amazing, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Portion sizes were right on the money. They bring out some freshly baked bread with olive oil.
The service is top notch! I felt like I was at a 5-star dining experience with the amount of attention we received. The serve knew the menu thoroughly, answered all of our questions and offered suggestions to popular choices and different dining experiences.

As a pasta connoisseur, I'm very picky on my Italian food. I've lived out east eating at all the best New Jersey and New York City Italian spots as well as eating my way through Italy a few times. So trust me, I don't give out 5 stars for any type of basic Olive Garden type spots.

This place is delicious for many reasons, not just because their food is tasty. The ambiance, which as a millennial I care about a lot, was perfect. The restaurant is modern yet feels like your old school Italian spot. They have bar seats looking into the kitchen which really makes this dinner feel interactive

After hearing about this restaurant from multiple friends and colleagues I decided to pay them a visit when I was stopping by the Charleston area. Right off the bat, the atmosphere and ambience of this restaurant is incredible. I loved sitting on the comfortable leather seating and feeling like I was a cast member in Goodfellas. Our waiter was incredible and the restaurant has a lively atmosphere and reminds me of my Saturday night pasta runs in New York City.

To start, my friend and I decided to share the warm crab bruschetta which quite honestly was my favorite part of this meal. The anchovy

The place is cozy and accommodating. If I were single, I would be happy to be there for a first date - perfect lighting, delicious food, and no one rushes you out. Stretch Armstrong Pizza blew me away. The ingredients are so fresh the pizza felt so effortless yet so significant. The actually put the burratta on the pizza AFTER the pull the pizza out of the oven... and it melts into place. I mean.. come ON! Wagyu Beef Carpaccio - RIDICULOUS. My mouth is watering as I type.
The entire menu appealed to me. I have only been once - which is typically not enough for me to write a review - but I promise

I was sadly disappointed in Melfi's. It was highly recommended by others, yet the food and service were subpar.

Our server seemed to despise our job and having to wait our table of 3. We were so easy, yet minor things like ordering another glass of wine seemed a chore.

My Mrs. Melfi's pie was mediocre. Appetizers lacked notable flavor or presentation.

I won't be back.

Great food, cool atmosphere, and great service! We decided to Uber down to dinner although they do have free valet. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation so we grabbed two seats at the bar and ordered a 1/2 liter of Pinot Nero wine. It was similar to a Pinot Noir but it was the perfect amount as it gave us each a glass and a half of wine. We then got seated and our waiter took over with great service. It was our first time in so he gave us the rundown on everything and make some really good menu suggestions. We started with the Arancini and Prosciutto & Burrata plate. Both were very tasty
