Chef Jose Salazar Mita's Restaurant
Mita's - an award-winning downtown Cincinnati restaurant featuring inspired latin American food, tapas & ceviche by Chef Jose Salazar. Mita's, the second restaurant from James Beard Nominated, Chef Jose Salazar is named after his Colombian grandmother, his "Mita." The beautiful, 130 seat restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati at the corner of Fifth and Race streets on the ground floor of the 84.51 building.

Mita's eclectic, farm-inspired menu focuses on both the traditional and modern foods and beverages of Spain and Latin America - with tapas, ceviches, cured hams, cheeses, and large plates. The wine program emphasizes Spain and the Old World. Our staff invites you to enjoy a fun, relaxed time with friends and family or a quick tapa and sangria in our large comfortable bar/lounge area.
Services
In the tradition of the spanish style of dining, "tapas" are served in waves and meant for sharing. Our signature large format plates are served family style. Depending on how many tapas you've ordered, these dishes can be shared between 2-6 guests. This historic region in Spain is home to Tempranillo, a varietal which produces some of the world's most respected wines.

Excellent service, food and atmosphere. The selections were difficult to chose from because they were all excellent. Will definitely be back to try the paella!

I'm a fan!

Hubs and I met an old friend here for a late dinner during his team's visit to Cincy for the Chargers/Bengals game. As this a tapas restaurant, we ordered quite a few dishes to share. The server would bring approx. two tapas out at a time which helped with the pace. Here what we ordered:

1. Cheese board - cheese options were standard but given the Spanish cuisine, I felt the cheese board didn't mesh well with the everything else.

2. Patatas bravas - these fried potatoes were tasty and seasoned well. The saffron really kicked it up a notch.

3. Tostones y guacamole

I have come here for many occasions and they have never disappointed! Though I love tapas as a vegetarian I am always hesitant to go to a tapas restaurant with a group out of fear that there will not be enough things I can eat that others would enjoy. This has never been an issue at Mitas because everything is so good and there is a variety of options that there are plenty of things even none vegetarian want to share with me. I would definitely ask for recommendations as the service is always good and they will guide you in a great direction!

We really thought we would like this restaurant. The inside was beautiful and the food was good but it lacked something. I didn’t feel welcomed or that I was appreciated for my business. I felt like our server wasn’t attentive and when we were seated by the host, she seemed like she was too good to seat us. We have been to superb restaurants in this country and world, we were not impressed by Mita’s.

The food is divine! We came here for a pharmaceutical presentation and had a fixed menu. Everything was just amazing. There wasn't anything that wasn't heavenly made. The mix of flavors will blow your mind. This is one of my new favorite restaurants. The staff are knowledgeable in the cusine and culture surrounding it. Very friendly and fun atmosphere. I can't want to come back.

Really enjoyed having a double date here. My wife and I ordered 6 tapas between the 2 of us and some ice cream and felt full. We loved everything. We had the plantains and guacamole, and mixta salad to start which was very nice. Then we had the octopus and fish tacos, and lastly, the empanadas and hamburguesas.

The best thing was the octopus, which was uniquely prepared in a fun cheesy, creamy potato foamy sauce. Second favorite was the plantains and guacamole which was executed well.

Waited a month for a reservation. Our server, Danielle H, was fantastic. We tried empanadas, clams and "arroz brut". Everything was flavorful and fresh. Drinks were on point . The architecture of the place is beautiful. I love the exposed columns and that you can see the kitchen which looks so clean and everything had a place. Well done.

We have never had a bad experience here. The food is consistently top notch, great drinks and really good service. The taste, ambiance and service totally justify the price. The ceviche and shishitos are always divine, and all the shareables are awesome. One of our favorites.

Warm and cozy ambience, pretty spaced out seating, easy reservation and good service. The food was very enjoyable, they come in small servings but can still be shareable. Order their Paella right away bec it takes 45 mins to prepare but well worth the wait. Everything we ordered were good and tasty paired with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and capped off with Tres Leches sponge cake with 3 kinds of milk. Refer to my photots. Happy tummy yet again!

Yaaaaasss to tapas. Admittedly, it is not my go-to, but I do always have a lovely experience when that is the speciality of a restaurant.
When I travel (work or pleasure) I do rely on Yelp for guidance. It didn't let me down here.
It was pretty busy when I arrived plus the bar was full but the sweet hostesses found a table for me. My waiter was just as accommodating with plenty of recommendations considering the entire menu sounded good.
Went with the chicharron (fried pork belly), tostones (fried plantains) with guac and ceviche de camarones. Reverse that order and that is what I liked

Amazing service. Amazing quality of food- the flavors were simply exquisite. All of the tapas we ordered for the table were brought out in perfect pairs. Some of the foods took me out of my traditional comfort zone and I'm so glad they did, because I found some new favorites! I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Supremely underwhelming.

We had 8:30 reservations for two (2) and arrived a few minutes early. We were seated promptly then reseated by the hostess. An older woman, who I assume was the manager, informed the hostess there was a larger party coming in after us and we were moved to make room for them. The hostess was apologetic and got us reseated fairly quickly - cool.

We ordered dessert first (PASTEL DE TRES LECHES - recommend) and three tapas (CEVICHE DE CAMARONES, TACOS DORADOS DE VEGETALES Y QUESO, and LOMO SALTADO) around 8:40. We asked for the check at 9:55pm (they closed at 10) having

Went to Mita's on a little trip to Cincinnati. It came from a recommendation from a friend. Loved the steak and the duck! The Iberico ham was a little chewy, and the portion sizes are not very large. Never received a drink refill the entire time. An ok place, but for the price, it wasn't worth it.

Great tapas style restaurant in downtown Cincinnati with interesting menu and full bar.
The food is decent but very pricey. The staff is super friendly. During my first visit I didn’t like that I was told to make my tapas selection all at once and then how many tapas to order. More than likely this is a way for the restaurant owner to turn tables faster but slow things down a bit and order a round of drinks from a very well stock bar. Then get few tapas to start. If you feel hungry after the first round order one or two more.
I have tried many tapas at Mita and would recommend ceviche de camarones

This place has an absolutely lovely atmosphere and food. The portions are great for sharing between two people. We got three plates to share and it completely satisfied us. Veggie taco, ceviche, and the mango vinaigrette salad all a wonderful explosion to our taste buds.

I wanted to wait for a few days to write this review, to make sure I wasn't suffering from "recency bias", but after thinking it over, I can confirm, that in my 35 years of being alive, this may be the best meal, top to bottom, I've ever had.

I've had better single dishes elsewhere, sure, but as a whole, everything we tasted/drank at Mita's was flawless.

It's a tapas place downtown, that upon entering, gives off a very fancy vibe, but once you sit down and begin interacting with the staff, you realize everyone is really chill, non pretentious, and ready to

Mita's was the perfect restaurant for our first meal in Cincinnati. We decided to try it as it was highly rated. When we got to the restaurant we did not have a reservation, but found two seats at the bar. The bar staff were so helpful for the food selections, and the bar tender even made me a special gin drink that wasn't even on the menu. We had the bread, mussels, empanadas, arepas, patatas bravas and the tres leches cake for desert. It was a lot of food, but well worth the splurge!

Our waiter explained the concept of combining the traditional Spanish cuisine with flavors from South

Having visited several times, we're always extremely happy with our drinks, meals, and the service. They have some amazing staples on the menu (ceviche and arepas are some of our faves) and they also switch a few things up every so often. The tapas size plates are awesome for trying a little bit of everything. For two people, we typically get 2 veggie plates, a seafood (ceviche), 2 meat plates, and a dessert, sometimes more. Most plates are evenly divisible by 2 and sometimes by 4.

Delicious on a higher level. I did takeout tonight (see photo) and was reminded of Mita's magic. Tostones and guacamole are always required but I also discovered the jicama and mango salad. How can a salad taste this good? Shrimp kebabs (pinchos de camarones) had a smoky flavor with a touch of cilantro and a delicious salsa. I can never make shrimp or kebabs like this when I grill it at home. Dessert (pastel vasco) had five elements that combined for a heavenly experience. The cake, pistachio cream, sweet goat cheese, lemon sorbet, and meringue (who knew how good meringue could be) had me
