I saw Dara H. liked a picture of beef strongoff at English Ivy's on Facebook. It looked so good! So, Wanda M. and I decided to meet there one evening. We went on a weeknight and I'm glad we did. It was really busy up front in the bar area. The back area was so nice and was decorated for Christmas. Not nearly as busy and that was good!
The special they had that day was sweet and sour pork. It sounded ok, but not what either one of us wanted. I saw they had chicken velvet soup on their Facebook page. They were sold out. So, French onion soup was we ordered. It was good although I wish

This was our first visit to English Ivy's. On Friday night they have a prime rib dinner for the special. We arrived about 6pm and the place was packed. We put our name in and they told us it would be about 15-20 minutes. We didn't know it but they do take reservations. Next time I will call ahead.
I ordered the prime rib dinner.($29) It came with a salad and two sides, green beans and a baked potato. My husband ordered the chicken wrap with buffalo sauce and mac & cheese for his side.
I took awhile for our dinner to come out but like I said they were busy. My dinner came out and

Kara and I met for dinner at English Ivy's. It's been years since I was here and it brought back some great memories.
The bar area has tall top tables with 4-top tables and banquette seating in the dining area. The atmosphere is laid back with dim lighting, friendly people and loud music.
They serve both lunch and dinner with a satisfying menu with several appetizers, pizza's, signature dishes and sandwiches.
Our server was friendly, attentive and quick to take care of our needs. We ordered drinks and both had a signature dish. Kara had the hand breaded Chicken Parmesan over

I've reviewed Ivy's before and I'm still really happy this is a quick walk for me. Friends also enjoy it, and I've been coming here for brunch on Sunday's with them for years and years during the winter months when I'm in town. This past Sunday, which was also Halloween, we visited for brunch and saw they were set up for a buffet. The dining room was also closed, which wouldn't have been too big of a deal, but one of the people who comes with me has difficulty getting into hightop chairs. The only thing in the bar is hightop chairs, which made it very difficult

A group of friends and I ate here when we took a road trip to Indie from out of state. It was such a friendly and lively place.
The pork tenderloin was great! It was the classic Midwestern food that we came for. Happy hour was a great deal, the drinks were cheap and stiff.
A couple months later, I'm still thinking about this place!

Had to wait more than an hour to have our orders taken and then another hour and a half to two hours to get the food. Someone at my table never even got their food and they only ordered a grilled-cheese. Their food is expensive and bland tasting. The enviornment is nice but i dont plan on coming back in the near future.

This is really a hidden gem in the St. Joseph neighborhood. Not only is it an inclusive atmosphere, but their food is absolutely delicious and really affordable. This breaded pork tenderloin was so juicy! Sometimes you order a tenderloin and you get something dry or meat that isn't high quality. This was the exact opposite. The fries were also some of the best I've ever had. Super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. 10/10 I'll be back again.

Stopped by for lunch.
First, they are taking Covid seriously. Masks required. Tables constantly being disinfected. Don't try and sneak in without a mask.
We ordered the taco trio. Pork, steak, and chicken. The taco shells were delicious. Not super corn sweet and not dry. Perfect blend. The meats were seasoned to perfection. I can't say enough how well the meats tasted. Juicy, full of flavour, and topped with delicious cheese. The salsas on the side were perfect for a step up of spices. Hands down, these tacos were light real.
Service was incredible. Alex was on top of checking

I've been going here for years! The food is fantastic and you could not meet a greater bunch of bartenders and servers! Jeff is the best in the business and the new co-owner too. He's been there for years and truly takes care of each person that walks thru the doors! A must try if you have not been in yet!

I've been here a few times but today I took a friend who has never been. We were returning to Columbus Ohio from our vacation out west & I suggested English Ivy's. We both ordered the fish and chips and it was absolutely delicious!!! The coleslaw was amazing, the fish was crisp and delicious and the fries had a nice crispness to them as well. Only downside is that it's almost 200 miles away from us.

The food is awesome and the service is always great. My partner and I love going here at least once or twice a week. Everyone is so friendly and the food is amazing. My mom and brother came to visit us from New Mexico and she loved the food here. So far we have invited everyone we know that haven't been.

I wen to this place with a good friend. Haven’t been to this location in years. I was pleased at the stellar amount of customer service received from our waitress Ms. Violet. She was attentive, energetic and provided service with a smile. Brad and Chris provided the best Long Island beverage I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere was great and food was served piping hot. This may be one of Indy’s best kept secrets. See you soon. Great job.

Ivy's has gone through a lot of changes in the last few years. There have been a variety of owners and a variety of menus in this long time near Northside restaurant. I am hoping this last iteration STAYS! They have got it right and the food and the atmosphere make it a place I love to frequent.
Their dinner specials are good (check out Friday's Prime Rib special y'all). Their menu options are plentiful and tasty. And their giant tator tots filled with cheese and bacon are DIVINE!
The crowd is always friendly and diverse. The facility is divided into a bar area and a dining

Really good drink and food specials! Perfect spot for lunch or happy hour! Menu is small and on point and slightly above what I would call "bar food". I had their tenderloin and it was served super fast after I ordered and was tender and delicious. Their fries were also very good. I like Ivy's because it's nice and friendly and the food is consistently good. Nothing too fancy or uptight, lgbtq friendly as well.

I have wanted to come here for awhile to try a Bloody Mary, I saw it on some list of bloody Mary's of Indianapolis and thought hey, one day I'll venture. Today I did and I'm happy I made that decision. It's located on Alabama street and I decided to part in the back.
It's has dim lighting but I appreciate the vibe. I sat at the bar and was greeted right way.
I ordered a Bloody Mary, the actual reason for my whole visit, and it impressed! I liked the flavor and the vodka to mix ratio. The salad had a pickled green bean, salami and pepper jack cheese. So yummy and a solid

A great place to watch some Colts football. Unfortunately, they lost their playoff game. Thankfully, the drinks and food made the loss worthwhile! It was only an extra $1.50 to make your vodka sodas a tall and man were they tall! The wings were pretty good, but not amazing. The breaded pork tenderloin sandwich was amazing though! I would go back here once a week for this sandwich! It's not one of those embarrassingly large sandwiches, but large enough to get you full. The meat was thick and juicy with great flavor! I spent an extra $3 for a side of tater kegs. They were good, but not worth $3 for

English Ivy's is housed in a low brick building fronting on Alabama Street in the Saint Joseph neighborhood on the near north-northeast side of downtown Indianapolis. It has its own small off-street parking area in back.
It provides seating for perhaps ninety-eight individuals at a combination of booths, stools, and chairs and tables in two main dining areas, one with the bar. Large windows along the east wall allow for generous sunlight during the day and provide an attractive view of the street. The decor is appealing and the ambiance agreeable.

This place has really gone downhill under the new management. It's as if the owners decided to just buy 200 boneless, skinless chicken breasts at the warehouse club and figure out the menu later. I swear almost half the items have some kind of dry, flavorless chicken in them.
I ordered the caprese chicken sandwich and it was just a giant breast with some basil, balsamic vinegar, sun-dried tomatoes, and mayonnaise. It wouldn't have been too bad if the chicken wasn't as dry as the Sahara or if the tomatoes were actually cut up. Do you know how hard it is to cut a whole sun
