Harold's Cabin
Harold's Cabin is a reimagined corner store, cafe and restaurant concept, housed in the same building on the corner of President and Congress Streets as the original Harold's Cabin, which served the residents of Charleston's Westside neighborhood from the 1920s to the 1950s.

First opened as a snowball shop under Harold Jacobs and his parents, and then run by Harold and his wife Lillian, Harold's Cabin evolved into an iconic neighborhood grocery and lunch counter.Check out the mercantile area of Harold's Cabin, featuring some of your favorite ingredients from our menu, as well as locally sourced provisions and grocery items.
Services
Harold Jacobs, the only child of Sam and Mignonette Cohen Jacobs, was born in Charleston in 1913. Harold's grandfather, Isaac Jacobs, emigrated from Eastern Europe and settled in Charleston, running a dry goods store on King Street. Harold was raised by his parents in the St. Philip Street neighborhood, but the family later moved to Hampton Park Terrace where they opened their first shop in 1929 selling snowballs.

Salad was ok. Corn bread tasted like it was a couple days old and heated up. Don’t want to give up on this place but our meal was not good

Before the pandemic, this was a place with a great neighborhood atmosphere and pretty good comfort food. Now, the atmosphere is the same but that's all you can say. Given that every restaurant is packed nightly in this city, it's no surprise why this one is always empty. The most confusing part is that the staff doesn't seem at all embarrassed to deliver tomato soup that might be marinara sauce, spoiled chicken, or a salad that even McDonalds wouldn't serve. The quality would make sense if the restaurant was a tourist trap or a money laundering front, but neither of those seem to be the case. Yikes

I liked this place a lot more before the pandemic. Their menu has since changed, and for the worse. Gone are the comfort food and wholesome dinners. Now it’s your run of the mill bar food. The prices have gone way up (but the quality and portions went in the other direction). The service model has changed too. Now you order your food at the bar (which was about a 20 minute wait), but a server will come around and get drinks. It felt clunky and a tad bit chaotic. Don’t get me wrong - I used to love the atmosphere, vibe, and food. I still like the atmosphere, but the rest has gone south. The

Easily one of my favorite spots in Charleston. The food is tasty and the decor is very quirky cabin.
Plus if you’re lucky you might just spot Bill Murray 🤫

The food is fresh and locally sourced, and it always tastes great. I have dined here a few times, for brunch and dinner. The staff is friendly and prompt. I especially love the quirky atmosphere inside this cool spot. It's a great place to grab a beer before going to one of the Riverdogs Baseball games, too!

This hole in the wall restaurant is a MUST if you're visiting Charleston! We came here because they are pup friendly (outside seating on the rooftop) - and so glad we did! Food was out of this world and wait staff were very kind. I want to go back to try more things on the menu!

I have eaten at Harolds Cabin four times now, three being for brunch and the last time, a late impromptu dinner with friends.
I have immensely enjoyed my meals there each and every time.
The decor of the restaurant could be in a Wes Anderson movie (see picture) and I guess that is appropriate as one of the partners of the restaurant is none other than Bill Murray (who has been in just about every single one of Anderson's films). Gorgeous.
The food and drinks are equally gorgeous.
I have had some wonderful omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, mimosas and burgers (one of the best burgers I have

If you are in a Charleston you absolutely need to eat at Harold's Cabin! It is amazing! The vibe is very cozy and the staff is great. It is located off the touristy places and I loved that. The food is so goooood!!
We had the crab ravioli and the butternut linguine. Being Italians we take pasta very seriously and I must say that it was delicious. Very well done and most importantly not overcooked. I was impressed! We also had the chocolate brownie and the apple crisp and they were delicious.
Also, everything is handmade, ice cream too!! Highly suggested

Harold's cabin is delicious!! The menu is somewhat limited, but everything we had was very tasty. We tried the fried green tomato/ pimento cheese sandwich with french fries and the smashed cabin burger with green beans. And we finished off dinner with one of the desert specials - peach cobbler with blueberry ice cream.

The restaurant itself is pretty funky - cozy cabin theme. Lots to look at - a mural, mismatchd plates, lots of artwork and kitsch - and these little cubbies where people write messages / leave little trinkets. And it all works!

OMG!!!!! If you are not eating here RIGHT NOW you need to haul you fanny over here ASAP. In an effort to try everything I ordered the deviled eggs and oysters, fried chicken w/ biscuit and gravy, an heirloom tomato Bloody Mary and the baristas special coffee w/ rosemary and honey.

This has become one of our absolute favorite breakfast spots in Charleston! The staff is phenomenal and makes this place the friendliest restaurant we have been to in two years of living here. We have a Corgi who loves to accompany us places and we were able to have him here on the patio. The staff spoiled him rotten, so much so he kept trying to go back on the way home!

It is not just the pet friendly staff and amazing reception but also the incredible food that makes this place amazing. I had the omelette special and my husband had the Harold's breakfast. The omelette was one of the best

Warm and inviting especially on a cold night. Had a nice meal with my husband upstairs. We both had salad and our entrees were exactly what we expected. His shrimp gumbalia was hardy and my mushroom ravioli with kale and chick peas was savory and delicious.
Don't skip dessert! The coconut cream pie is heavenly

Popped in for breakfast and was overwhelmed with the vibe, food, and coffee. These guys are doing it right! I ordered the caprese sandwich and grace got eggs and bacon. The bacon was so smoky and thick. Can’t believe they trusted us with this bacon. Will be back for sure.

Almost don't want to review it, so it remains a little undiscovered...but I can't. This place is awesome - super cozy and homey. They had a live band too.

I came in after a workout looking for fuel. I got takeout thinking I would grab and go...ended up sitting at the bar, enjoying a beer, while waiting for my food.

The food came and I decided to eat at the bar since people were so friendly (awesome bartender and nice regulars at the bar). Also there was no way I was making it home without digging into this food, let's be real.

I got the venison chili which was very hearty, cheesy

Love this place! What a cozy and welcoming coffee shop. They made me their signature drink The Jackalope. It has espresso, ginger beer, basil, honey and was delicious.

I also picked up a Kombucha that's local and has turmeric. It's delicious.

That barista was super kind and accommodating. The kicker is the decor! Super chill, like someone's awesome basement you would hang out in.

We had such a great meal here! We were seated upstairs and it was empty on a Saturday night. The ambiance is cool and the service was great.

The only surprise is that i was let down by the Forage Board. It was one of the main reasons I wanted to eat here, and I just wasn't feeling it.

But let me tell you what i was feeling: everything else! The cocktail menu is limited but it was good. The hush puppies were great and the truffle fries were even better! They are a definite must order. I loved my chicken sandwich, but did not like the field peas I chose as a side. They needed more seasoning

Harold's Cabin specializes in a veggie-driven menu, most of which they get from their very own rooftop garden. The atmosphere is cozy and casual and the decor is spot-on for making it feel like you're in someone's family cabin. It's very easy to feel right at home at Harold's Cabin, especially when someone places a plate of hush puppies in front of you.

I've mostly had shared apps at Harold's Cabin and my favorites are the hush puppies (duh) and the smashed fries. The hush puppies are enormous and they're served with a miso carrot puree, scallion, crispy

Relaxing atmosphere with excellent comfort food and good portions. Came here with my family and there was something for everyone. Chicken biscuits with grave was excellent and huge portion. Banana bread french toast wonderful and large portion. The only problem was my 16 year old son was not filled up by the burger with an egg on it...go figure lol. I had the Farmers salad with grilled chicken and their "house" margarita. Both unique and excellent!

We stopped by Saturday night for cocktails, as we had dinner reservations nearby. The small bar is perfect for this occasion, as others were doing the same. A small cocktail menu was enough for us to enjoy, but it was the friendly engaging service by Drew that really impressed. He was busy, yet always took time to chat with us about drinks, food, and Charleston. We enjoyed our stop here, as having never been before. But we will be back to enjoy the food here. Harold's Cabin is one cool neighborhood place and we loved it.

Plain and simple, I'm in love with this place! Their forage board is not only unique but incredibly delicious and I know that herbivores and carnivores alike will love it. The vegetables are local, often from their own garden, and freshly prepared for their forage board (only available for dinner). Some call it "vegetarian charcuterie" which is a perfect description for this board.

Something else that keeps me coming back is their bison burger. My favorite of all burgers and they don't let me down here. With onion jam, pickled green tomato, sharp cheddar, and Smokey bbq sauce

Modern rustic glamping environs inside a deceptively unassuming suburban corner house makes for a hip spot for brunch feasting.
Inside, you walk into a transformed cabin interior that's equal parts Restoration Hardware and Urban Outfitters, Tom Waits's gruff melodic howl oozing its way from the ceiling.
Menu is fun and lively and an barista "cocktail" menu opens up new creative ways to explore the possibilities of espresso, like popular Jackalope, an espresso and ginger beer mashup.
Staff is very chill, friendly and the hangout and chow down vibes are welcoming. I almost expected Twin Peaks

Met some friends here for brunch.

They dont take reservations.

They only had 1 table for 6 but don't be fooled they have additional tables upstairs. We had originally 8 people lucky enough 2 of them were not able to make it at the last minute.

The beverages were delightfully well made. They had a Blonde Bloody Mary made with heirloom tomatoes. Looked delicious. I didn't try it. I really liked the sweetness of the Rock and Rye. I had the chai latte extra dirty. Never noticed the doible expresso vodka shots so I guess that's a good thing.

My food was amazing. The biscuit

Dropped in here for a quick snack and meetup with friends, which was cool since I've been wanting to check the place out for some time.

We all sat at the bar and had a really good time, as the bartender was super cool and friendly. She was jazzin' up a drink by burning some cinnamon sticks for iced coffee. So, I ended up having to order that as well. [insert "When Harry meet Sally" line here].

Words might not be enough, so you might need to scroll on down to the food pictures. Anyway, the hush-puppies were Amaze-balls! And the beignets were great and fluffy with a delicious

If you haven't looked at Harold's Cabin website yet to get a history of the building, location, and Harold himself, please do so now before proceeding, and definitely before visiting for the first time. You'll have a much better appreciation for what they've done here ... go ahead ... I'll wait ...

Now that we're up to speed, Harold's Cabin is amazing! The renovations that they've done inside and out have turned this place in to an automatic Charleston classic. They have a rooftop garden, where they source most of their vegetation from, and the freshness
