Services
Dr. U.E. Marney founded the hospital and at that time, it was called the Veterinary Service Institute operating as Alamo Dog & Cat Hospital for large and small animals. It was a full service hospital also offering ambulance service and all grooming and pet needs. After Dr. U.E. Marney, Drs. Parker, Brown, and Culpepper operated the practice until 1971, at which time Dr. Eric Lange and Dr. Ronald Orrell took over the practice.
Your pet's health is our priority! With the examination findings, your pet's doctor will recommend treatment options or further diagnostics, all with the goal of providing you and your pet with the best possible care, and give you a full understanding of the situation. When your pet gets a fever, stomach infection, vomiting or diarrhea, or just doesn't feel well, you should bring him or her in for an exam.
Our team members are available to speak at many of the elementary schools in the area for career days. We also offer to the schools a tour of the facilities and work in conjunction with the area high school student work programs. Alamo Dog & Cat Hospital is also a proud sponsor of SA Five Diamonds Little League and various other youth programs.
We offer boarding for cat and dogs 6 months of age and older. All boarding dogs must be current on their yearly DHLPP, Rabies and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccinations. Pets are fed two times a day and are walked by our lovable staff two times a day. Boarders are fed Science Diet Sensitive Stomach dry food.
Pet insurance pays, partly or in total, for veterinary treatment of the insured person's ill or injured pet. Some policies will pay out when the pet dies, or if it is lost or stolen. As veterinary medicine is increasingly employing expensive medical techniques and drugs, and owners have higher expectations for their pets' health care and standard of living than previously, the market for pet insurance has increased.

I have been going to this location for several years. At one time I had 4 dogs that would be treated here. Over the last couple years I’ve notice a change. It’s seems the vet is more geared towards making money then treatment/health of our furry friends. Also this location has gone thru several vets over the years. Just seems impersonal & I feel that your pets best interest is not a priority. It’s time cut ties from this location & move on.

Great care. They go the extra mile to care for your pet. Nick was wonderful with my dog, took the time to explain the aftercare of my pet and prevention of other issues she was being seen for. Only downfall was the wait time.

Not enough words to express my gratitude... Because of the staff here my fur baby is alive! I called the ASPCA poison control because my dog found some rat poison. They wanted to charge $65.00 just to continue the call.same with poison control & other vets near by. I called here, not only did she give me free advice, it worked & she saved my fur baby. I cannot express my appreciation enough!! I wish I could remember the lady's name that was on the phone but I'd like to say THANK YOU! You're an Angel!! ❤

Don’t bring your sick cats here. The doctors and nurses give false and inaccurate diagnosis, then take your money and send you on your way. I would not recommend bringing your sick cats here unless you truly know the cause and are able to pin it, because the “professionals” here do not have a better guess than you probably do. Do not come here unless you want to be out of $500 and a dead beloved cat.

I had been here before and everyone has been friendly the wait time was a bid long but had to wait my fur baby YaYa
Needed to be seen. We were desperate!
YaYa had really bad yeast infection she was constantly chewing on her fur & skin til it was practically raw she’s had it before but not this bad she was getting ugly scabs that were oozing and it smelled horrible! this time she was treated by a young vet I believe her name was Emma she is very good.
She prescribed two antibiotics and I swear it started working almost immediately! TY Emma
YaYa and I will forever be grateful!

Patients are handled as quickly as possible without rushing through the Doctor exam. They are efficient while still addressing the owners concerns. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. And they are very good at diagnosing and treating your pets problems. I have been coming here since 1976 and have always been pleased with the visit. They have brought several of my pets back from the brink without excessive charges. I have moved some distance from their clinic but still go there. I trust them.
