Services
Dr. Moody McCall purchased San Pablo Animal Hospital in 1989 as a solo practice when the previous doctor retired. The hospital was originally housed in a converted house near the intersection of Atlantic Blvd. The hospital now has room for additional veterinary services, boarding, grooming, a pharmacy, surgery suite, retail items, a play area for your children, fenced areas for your pets, and room for an additional doctor.
Full payment is expected when services are rendered. We accept personal checks, cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and CareCredit. Returned checks are subject to a service charge. We recommend that all clients schedule an appointment prior to coming to San Pablo Animal Hospital. If your pet is over the age of 7, he or she must have a blood profile prior to the surgical procedure.
In 2005, San Pablo Animal Hospital became intensely involved with service dogs when Dr. McCall's family decided to become puppy raisers for Canine Companions for Independence. The McCalls have successfully raised many puppies for CCI, which places "exceptional dogs with exceptional people" free of charge.
San Pablo Animal Hospital provides a full spectrum of veterinary services for your pet, including an in-house laboratory, pet pharmacy, surgery, ultrasound, digital X-ray, boarding, bathing, and grooming, as well as carries a complete line of pet food and other pet products available at the hospital and in our online store.
At San Pablo Animal Hospital, your pet's wellbeing and happiness is our main concern when you are away. Because we are a veterinary hospital, we are capable of responding quickly should an emergency arise. Our experienced staff can safely and reliably administer any medications that are needed. We provide a safe and secure environment for your pet.

I have two vets, this one and No More Homeless Pets. I use NMHP more as they are cheaper. We recently adopted a new fur baby and needed him to been seen ASAP as he had an issue with one of his eyes. NMHP didn't have an appt until Nov so I brought him here. They were able to get me an appt same day I called (which was great). Front desk was ok - I agree with some of the comments about the receptionists not acknowledging you right away. They will look at you, not greet you, go back to what they were doing and only when done will they greet you and ask how they can help. Waited 10-15 min after our

Hands down the worst vet experience.
Genuinely disgusted with the vet technician and Dr. McCall Sr during our last visit.
Will not be returning due to incompetence and lack of remorse for screaming and yelling at our dog behind closed doors.
The dog is 1 year old and all previous vet visits have been unaccompanied by us due to “COVID-19 Restrictions” not allowing visitors inside the building with their animals.
It’s clear his previous visits have been unsuccessful yet the staff decides to not adapt their approach of handling the animal; see incompetence above.

Dr Chase McCall was EXCEPTIONAL not only in his medical skills but also his people skills. I was very worried to have my 11 yr old French bulldog put under anesthesia because it can be a problem for dogs that don’t have a snout. I love my dog and was probably a terrible pain in the neck! He communicated with me from beginning to end and was wonderful. The entire team at San Pablo Animal Hospital are incredibly caring people. I would never go anywhere else for care of my dog. 💕

We've been bringing our dogs there for years. They are always polite, professional and personable. Not only have they taken care of our dogs over the years, they have assisted with their medical needs, grooming and even handling their last days with compassion and care.
We have recommended them to several of our friends and family members and will continue to do so.

The front desk was overly occupied talking. I stood in front of someone for a couple of minutes before being greeted. The vet was nice and attentive. When leaving the front desk staff asked was i ready and didnt speak anymore until saying "k, have a good one" as she went back to talking with her front desk staff. The customer service here lacks a lot. You shouldnt stick your nose up when people come in. The only reason they received 2 stars is the vet was awesome that we met.
