In the early going, a mentor told me to look up the word "vocation." And I did. Broken down, vocation comes from a Latin root, "vocatio, " meaning summons, or to call, as in calling. I have been providing therapy for individuals and couples for over twenty-five years. It is deeply gratifying to journey with people and help them move out of their pain and suffering and into a deeper peace and freedom, a greater sense of wholeness.
Life is often unfair. At different times it throws different challenges our way. Some we can handle, some we struggle with, and some knock us down, making it hard to get up. And when it's hard to get up, therapy can help. People enter therapy for a variety of reasons. It takes courage to admit we need help, and strength and commitment to ride out the rhythms of therapy.
Marriage can be satisfying and challenging, frustrating and fun, and when couples hit rough patches they often slip into unhealthy patterns that can perpetuate the frustration, hurt, or disappointment they're feeling, leaving them alone and alienated from one another. What's happened? They have lost the fundamental attachment, the emotional connection, that helps them feel loved and valued and secure in the marriage.
Therapy provides us the opportunity for greater self-discovery and deepened understanding. The person I enjoy working with is someone who is genuinely curious about what makes them tick, why they make choices that sink their dreams or sabotage the relationships important to them; but who also want to know their strengths and talents so they can embrace and use them more effectively.
The initial hour is $150.00 and every hour thereafter is $135.00. If I am in network with your insurance company, they will establish the cost of therapy. But there will be, in most cases, a deductible or co-pay for which you, the client, are responsible. Once established, these charges are to be paid in each hour.
